ABINGTON 3, SOUDERTON 3
The Indians – thanks to goals by Kylie Heath and Paige Torchio – found themselves on top 2-0 at halftime only to watch the Ghosts score three unanswered goals in the second half.
Gabbie Nolan sent Jamie Gosselin through on a diagonal pass, and Gosselin converted the pass into the Ghosts’ first goal. The other two goals, according to coach Rick Tompkins, were picture perfect.
“Rachel Hanzelik served a free kick from behind the Indians’ defense, and Gabbie Nolan finished it calmly,” he said. “Then Mary Gene Mugnier made a fantastic run from her right back position deep into Souderton territory.
“She crossed the ball just past the last defender to a waiting Emily Valleras, who slotted the ball into the net.”
With six minutes remaining in regulation, the Indians were awarded a penalty kick, and captain Siobhan McKenna made it count, finding the left corner of the net.
Twenty minutes of overtime could not determine a winner, and the two teams settled for a 0-0 tie.
The Ghosts are 4-7-1 overall while the Indians are 4-5-1.

The Golden Bears actually got off to a slow start in the game, falling behind 1-0 when Rose Sedgwick scored at the 10:42 mark after a corner kick. The Bears countered with a goal of their own eight minutes later when Brianna Byard turned a Christina Kane cross into a goal.
