The Trojans once again came out of the gate strong, opening up a quick 3-0 lead and forcing Contestoga to call a timeout. The Trojans led 3-1 after one quarter and added to that lead with a four-goal second quarter to go into halftime with a commanding 7-2 advantage..jpg)
Conestoga found its rhythm in the third quarter, scoring four goals to make it an 8-6 game heading into the final period. Both teams scored a goal apiece in a hard fought fourth quarter, giving the Trojans a win in their final home game of the season.
The win avenged Wissahickon’s only home loss of the season – a 5-4 loss to Conestoga on April 17.
Wissahickon was led on attack by senior Jackson Intrieri, who had one goal and four assists in a five-point night. Dean Wolfe continued to come up big on attack with four goals. Kyle Lehman had two goals and one assist, and Brody Myers had two goals. Matt Fritz won 13 of 19 faceoffs, and standout goalie Scott Pfeiffer finished with 11 saves.
The defense was led by Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Ethan Glass, Joey Connolly, EJ Schreiner and Darren Schank.
Wissahickon (17-5, 9-0 SOL) will face La Salle in the opening round of the PIAA 3A Tournament on Tuesday.
