Non-league
SOUDERTON 4, GWYNEDD MERCY 0
Lex Yanchunas had herself a day, connecting for a hat trick to lead the Indians to the non-league win.
The sophomore forward ignited the Indians’ attack with a goal midway through the opening quarter, using a Tatum Andrews assist. Just over two minutes later, Yanchunas scored her second goal, this time with assists from Andrews and Ava Jones.
Souderton’s 2-0 lead stood until early in the third quarter when Andrews – who also had a hand in three goals – scored with an assist from Julia Blair.
Yanchunas completed her hat trick three minutes into the fourth quarter with an assist from Hannah Cornes.
“Lex scored from the left side three times on balls that were just a couple of yards off the goal line,” Souderton coach Sue Casciato said. “We’ve struggled to finish from that area all year, so her success is certainly a step in the right direction.”
Souderton’s dominance in the game is underscored by their advantage in shots (21-7). The Indians also had a 7-5 edge in penalty corners.

first game of the season.”
Scoring Summary
OT
Mollie Reilly (B) from Giuliana Pasquarella
Bensalem coach Gary Kubik on the win: “Tennent has surely made strides over this season. After playing a full sixty minutes, with the score locked on zero, the two teams set out for overtime. It was Bensalem’s first overtime game over the past two years.”
—The game-winner: “It didn’t take long into overtime when senior Giuliana Pasquarella sent a beautiful ball into the circle where sophomore Mollie Reilly tipped it home. It was a grand celebration, and a great way to finish the senior’s home final game. But what a way to end it!
Celebrating the seniors: “Bensalem celebrated captains Giuliana Pasquarella, Haley Groves, and Erin Lendzinski along with goaltenders Brianna Swanson and Emily Adams. They were celebrated alongside of Casey Bush, Olivia Cervantes, Maggie McLaughlin, McKenna White, Paige Schiefer, and Shrina Patel. These 11 seniors, no doubt, will tackle the world like they tackle on the field hockey field. At the beginning of the season I asked for strong, independent young women and ,boy, did I get them! Go off and conquer the world! You’re going to be missed!”
Up next: Bensalem (7-10, 2-7 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy Tuesday, and William Tennent (2-13-1, 2-6-1) will be on the road at New Hope-Solebury Tuesday.
