SOL National Conference
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3
The Indians survived a wild finish, scoring a pair of goals in the final five minutes to eke out the come-from-behind win in Monday’s thriller between the neighboring rivals. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Indians, who won five straight games to open the season.
“It’s awesome to get back in the win column and extremely well deserved,” North coach Jules Singer said. “The girls worked extremely hard today.
“South always plays a great game, and they are very well coached. It was really a great team win.”
Early on, goals were hard to come by for both sides. Brynn Bogle gave the Indians a 1-0 lead when she scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the contest. Late in the second quarter, Mia Shink scored the equalizer with an assist from Ava Leonetti, sending the two teams into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
Charlotte Ondria (Sierra Kim assist) scored with 50 seconds remaining in the third quarter to send the Indians into the final quarter with a 2-1 lead.
It took the Golden Hawks less than a minute to erase that lead when Annagrace McKinney scored the equalizer. With 7:35 remaining in regulation, the Golden Hawks took their first lead when Schink turned a pass from McKinney into a goal, prompting Singer to call a quick timeout.
The Indians responded.
Maddy Mela scored an unassisted goal to knot the score with 4:37 remaining, and just when it looked as though overtime was inevitable, Bogle (Mela assist) scored her second goal of the day, giving Rock North a 4-3 lead with 1:28 remaining. That score stood until the final whistle.
“Our passing really helped us today,” Singer said. “The last six minutes of the game, the girls dug deep and were hungry to get the win. I am incredibly proud of the win.”
The Indians’ coach had plenty of praise to go around after Monday’s win.
“Shout out to Maddy Mela, Brynn Bogle and Charlotte Ondria on the goals and Sierra Kim and Kailyn Smith for their ball movement,” Singer said. “Kaitlyn McCoy for her awesome defensive save and Lily King for holding the defense down.”
For the Golden Hawks, who fell to Pennridge 2-1 in overtime last Thursday, it was their second one-goal game in as many outings.
“We had two tough losses in a row, losing in the last few minutes of a game,” Rock South coach Kelly Mason said. “I think at this point of the season this is a big life lesson for my team. We had moments of intensity and life, but we have to remain consistent through the whole game. You have to have the grit to win close games at the end, and we lacked that as a whole today.
“We had a good showing from our freshman Mia Schink with two goals. I like the offense we generated at times today and our corners were much better, but we have to be thorough on both sides of the ball through four quarters.”
Council Rock North (6-5, 4-5 SOL) will host Central Bucks East on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and Council Rock South (3-8, 3-7) will host Souderton on Tuesday.

The Cardinals struggled to find their offense against the Lady Panthers, and Cheltenham goalie Finn Boyle had a whole lot to do with that, turning in a 26-save performance.
UD got on the scoreboard four minutes into the second half and scored three second-half goals.
“We had a rough time adjusting to the grass at Cheltenham,” UD coach Emily Town said. “Their goalie played great and came up with a lot of saves. One of their players also had a defensive save.”
Early in the second half, senior Rayla Kratchman found the cage with a goal that stood as the game-winner. With one second remaining in the third quarter, junior Jenny Oh scored with an assist from Junior Ellison Kullman.
In the fourth quarter, freshman Mia Guagliardo scored with an assist from Aviva Kuznits.
“Freshman Mia Guagliardo and junior Jenny Oh really stepped up big today,” Town said.

LOWER MORELAND 1, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0
It was a beautiful night for field hockey and Lower Moreland’s “Stick it to Cancer” game. The Lions earned a win under the lights on a special night that honored senior Bri Rocha’s mother, who recently lost her courageous battle against cancer, and former longtime Lower Moreland field hockey coach Carol Lusignea, who passed away last November also from cancer.
“It’s been a tough week for our Lower Moreland field hockey family, so we’re rallying around our teammates, and coming away with a win was so nice,” LM coach Janet Lutter said. “What made it even more special was how many students, friends and family came to support the cause.”
As for the game, junior Skylar Lowry scored the only goal off a pass from Jess Pachman. Lowry also had a defensive save on the Vikings’ only shot to keep the shutout intact.
“All around, it was a great team win,” Lutter said.
Lower Moreland (6-6, 4-6 SOL) will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.
