Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Charise Halteman:
–The game: “Despite a slow start and North Penn scoring the first goal of the game early in the first quarter (11:54), we continued to work hard and put pressure on North Penn’s defense. Gracie Kerns scored the first goal with a hard shot from the top of the circle with 4:09 remaining in the first quarter to tie the game.
“At the 8:20 mark of the second quarter, Sophie Kerns attacked on an aggressive angle and entered the circle unchallenged and was able to score on a hard shot. Quinn Burns scored on a rebound in front of the goalkeeper during a corner play in the third quarter (9:18) which opened up the game. We scored three more goals in a three-minute span in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Julz Scherzer (11:53) and Kayleigh Boland (11:02) both had nice finishes pulling around the goalkeeper. Reese Smith scored the final goal of the game off a great deflection with 8:56 remaining.
“The team made some great adjustments throughout the game and it was great to win on a day when we were raising awareness for pediatric cancer, a cause that hits close to home.”

Bensalem coach Gary Kubik:
–The goals: “The scoring was started off by senior Mollie Reilly with an assist from Homecoming Court participant Tierney Sayers within the first four minutes. Just 17 seconds later, junior Kylie Blank scored her first of three on the day unassisted. Blank stole the pushback after the Reilly goal and went straight down the middle of the field.
“Mollie Reilly got on the board again in the second quarter with an assist from sophomore Homecoming Princess Leah Vorgity with 6:34 left in the second quarter. Vorgity then got her eighth goal of the year with a pass from the aforementioned Blank. Veronica Lennon scored her third goal in a four-game span. Lennon was moved around a little bit and just adds to the offense every time she comes up. Today’s goal was just from a scramble out in front of the Jenkintown cage. Lennon deposited the ball top left-hand corner late in the third quarter.
“Kylie Blank received her second goal of the day with 9:05 remaining in the final frame with a pass from another Homecoming Court participant, Anjali Guda. It was Guda’s first point of the year, but she has been playing tremendously from the back midfield position. Finally, the pair hooked up again with just 15 seconds remaining, Guda to Blank, to give the Owls a 7-0 victory. It was Blank’s third goal of the game along with an assist, her seventh goal off the season to go along with eight assists.
“ The shutout was a combined effort from junior Hailey Fricke and freshman Gabby Thompson. It was also helped by a superb defense of Abby Cheung, Veronica Lennon, Lexi Hartman, Reagan Colgan, Addie Walsh, and Chloe Smith. Four of the six midfielders that were used today were shut out from the scoring but were integral in connecting the offense to the defense. Those players were Emma Welsford, Reese Sayers, Paige Dando, and the final Homecoming Princess, freshman Paige Pressler. What a great day to be an Owl! Happy Homecoming!”
