Non-league
NORTH PENN 4, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3
Laura Albert scored a pair of goals in the final 3:26, propelling the Knights to the dramatic come-from-behind win.
Certainly no one saw this ending coming when the Knights – who dominated the game statistically – took a 2-0 lead into the fourth quarter. That’s when the Indians made things very interesting, proving that a two-goal lead was anything but secure as they reeled off three straight goals in a six-minute span.
Keiley Lyons ignited the Indians with a goal two minutes into the quarter, and two-and-a-half minutes later, Kate Horan turned a pass from Brynn Bogle into the tying goal.
Megan Reichenbach’s unassisted goal with 7:06 remaining gave the Indians a 3-2 lead.
But Albert was not about to let the game slip away, turning a pass from Kylie Barwis during corner play into the equalizer. With just over a minute remaining, Barwis connected on a penalty stroke to give the lead and the win.
Albert finished with a hat trick, Barwis had a pair of assists, and Paige Shearer also scored a goal.

North Penn coach Shannon McCracken on the game: “(We) allowed Council Rock North to come back in the fourth quarter but were able to convert a penalty corner and penalty stroke in the final three-and-a-half minutes to secure the SOL crossover win. Credit to Council Rock North for being efficient in the circle in the fourth quarter and not giving up.
“(We) held a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter and statistically held an advantage – shots and penalty corners, but a late surge by Council Rock North and some defensive mishaps led to a close game.”
–Props: “Senior midfielder/captain Laura Albert came up big for the Knights, converting a penalty corner (assist Kylie Barwis) and penalty stroke in the final minutes to put North Penn on top. Junior forward Kylie Barwis had an excellent day on the attack moving the ball up the field and creating offensive opportunities for the Knights while sophomore Devon Crowley had a strong day in the midfield.”
Council Rock North coach Jules Singer: “I am very proud of how the girls played. Although it wasn’t a win, we played consistent hockey and came up from a 2-0 deficit.”
–Props: “Our defense really stepped up today. Julia, Keiley, Sierra, Addie, and Cara were rock solid in the back. Kailyn Smith stepped up and hustled on both the defensive and attack fronts. Shoutout to Keiley, Kate, Brynn, Morgan, and Megan for their grittiness in the attack circle. Izzy Teitelman played a new position today and really held her own. Although it wasn’t a win, the girls fought hard, and I am proud of the way they played.”

Wissahickon coach Lee Ann Marchesi on the game: “It was a good start to a busy week. We are finding ways to build off of each other’s energy and play consistent, fundamental field hockey.”
New Hope-Solebury coach Gwen Smith: “Wissahickon scored in the first quarter, and we answered back in the first, so that was really good. They’re obviously a good team – they had a lot of pressure, and we got a little disorganized on defense.
“But it was a good game to see what we could do. I thought our defense did a really nice job and our goalie. We just had a couple of breakdowns, and they took advantage of it.”
Up next: Wissahickon (6-2-1, 4-1-0 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Wednesday in a non-league contest. New Hope-Solebury (8-1, 6-0) will host Central Bucks West in a non-league game Wednesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 4, NESHAMINY 1
In a battle of division leaders, Neshaminy – after controlling play in the opening quarter – broke a scoreless tie when Kasey Rieger found the cage early in the second quarter. The Redskins took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Bucks evened the score when Aida Ieurbino turned a pass from Heidi Schoenleber during corner play early in the second half. Just over a minute later, Claire Demmer (Calista Boos assist) scored the go-ahead goal.
The Bucks added a pair of goals – one each from Boos and Emily Taylor – in the fourth quarter for the 4-1 final.
Scoring Summary
1st quarter – No score
2nd quarter
Kasey Rieger (N) 10:24 (1-0)

4th quarter

Emily Taylor (CBW) from Aida Ierubino 4:00 (4-1)
CB West coach Lori Ierubino: “A great win against a speedy, physical Neshaminy team. West did a nice job of staying poised – even after an early goal against – to systematically set up scoring opportunities and control the pace of the game. We started a little flat, getting beat to the ball by an aggressive Neshaminy team.
“After they scored, there was a positive shift in our team’s effort, and it paid off. I was super proud of our entire defensive team and our quick restarts on offense led by Calista Boos.”
Neshaminy coach Jamie Pinto: “We played hard tonight, and even though we lost, the girls should be proud of how they played. We were prepared; we practiced hard and knew what we needed to do against a strong West team.
“Defensively, we did a nice job stepping to the ball and keeping the ball out of the center of the field. The goals we gave up were on corners and a stroke. Offensively, our forwards did a nice job cutting back to the ball, and our mids worked hard up and down the field. This was a tough loss, but nothing to hang our heads about— we will continue to work hard and play together as a team as the season goes on.”
Up next: Central Bucks West (7-2, 5-0 SOL) will travel to New Hope-Solebury for a non-league game Wednesday, and Neshaminy (7-2, 5-0) will be on the road at Wissahickon for a non-league game Wednesday.

PENNSBURY 2, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
(Article submitted by Pennsbury field hockey)
The Pennsbury Falcons took to the road to face Central Bucks East for a matchup that has been historically a tight battle.
The Falcons and Patriots have gone back and forth since 2021, swapping wins every other year, and this year it was their turn to come out on top. The Patriots took control right away, possessing the ball from the start and attempting to put PHS on their heels.
“It was another Monday game, which worries our staff a bit regarding mental preparedness and our girls’ ability to lock in after the weekend,” coach Traci Curtis said. “The beginning was making me a little nervous when we couldn’t seem to hold onto possession, but they were ready today and did a great job of focusing on the task at hand.”
East seemed to be in control of the game for most of the first fifteen minutes, but with three minutes left in the first quarter, the orange and black found their groove. A beautiful passing sequence started the ball upfield, and after a feed from fellow sophomore Ava Pinto, Abby Iacona found herself entering the circle alone with a 1v1 against the goalie.
“Iacona handled the breakaway with patience and skill,” Curtis said. “She finished beautifully by taking the ball right, moving the keeper, and shooting opposite post to the left side and just placed it right on the money.
“That whole play from start to finish was so well done. So many players touched the ball and really put it all together as a unit. It was definitely a spark that rippled through our team and set us afire at just the right time.”
The Pennsbury flame flickered a little when two minutes later with 47 seconds left in the first quarter, East decided they weren’t going to go out without a huge fight and tallied their first goal to tie it 1-1 going into the second.
“It is something we need to work on – those big moments when the clock is ticking down, and we just have to hold for a little bit longer,” Curtis said.
Curtis’ team made sure that didn’t happen again for the rest of the game.
The second quarter was scoreless as the Patriots and Falcons fought back and forth with possession, penalty corners, and shots. At halftime, the score remained locked at 1-1. Halfway through the third quarter, PHS seemed to be knocking on East’s door pretty frequently but just not finishing…until sophomore Regan Rodriguez did great work in front of the goalie with stick down and hunger for the cage. Rodriguez collected a rebound and shot it past the keeper to put the Falcons on top 2-1. “Regan is working hard and finding her place in the mix,” Curtis said. “We are so happy with her connection and ability to make good decisions on and off the ball.”
The fourth quarter was more of the fast-paced back and forth, but neither team found the back of the cage again. The Falcons fought to the end to hold East at bay.
“We managed the clock better, dug deeper than ever, used our time out to gather ourselves, and were better strategically today,” explained Curtis. “Everyone worked well together. Liv Coen, Abby Anderer, Abby Iacona, Ava Pinto, Ryan Burdette, Ava Jordan, Angelina Kenney, and Regan Rodriguez took responsibility for their jobs on offense (forwards and mids).
“Defensively, Cailyn Reilly led the backfield along with strong contributions from Avalee Shumski, Payton Worth, Ayla Alon, and Jacqueline Sullivan.”
The goalies at both ends had great games -Pennsbury’s Abby McCole had more shots to deny as the Patriots hit on target 13 times as compared to Pennsbury’s 5, proving that it is quality over quantity.
“This was a much-needed victory for us mentally and a great way to set the tone for another three-game week,” said Curtis.
Pennsbury (5-3, 2-3 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin on Wednesday and then continue their away stint at Springfield Township on Friday. Central Bucks East (2-6-2, 2-3-0) will be on the road at Upper Moreland for a non-league game Wednesday.

Late in the first quarter, Harmon used a pass from sophomore Annabelle Deacon to send the Hatters into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The third quarter belonged to Harmon and the Hatters. Alaina D’Angelo scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the quarter, and then it was Harmon connecting on back-to-back goals in a 29-second span to give the young Hatters their final margin of victory.

Mackenzie Harmon (HH) 7:25 (4-0)

Hatboro-Horsham assistant coach Nicole Miletto on the game: “We came out in the first quarter and kept the ball in their end and put some pressure on them. Sophomore Annabelle Deacon fed sophomore Mackenzie Harmon for her first of three goals.
“Cheltenham tightened up their defense in the second quarter and battled. They have some nice athletes and made some good plays but couldn’t generate much.”
–The second half: “The second half we got our momentum back and put three more goals on the board. Freshman Alaina D’Angelo got an unassisted goal and Kenzie added two more in the third, one assisted by Madeline Lee who again had a nice game on the defensive end.”
–Props: “Sophomores Norah Haber and Anabelle Deacon had solid games and were close to scoring a couple of times. The girls did the little things today, and it paid off. They aren’t used to playing on grass, but you wouldn’t know it today. It’s a nice way to start the week where we have three games for the second week in a row.”

UPPER DUBLIN 0, UPPER MORELAND 0 (OT)
In a contest that featured a whole lot of defense, neither team could find the cage in four quarters and an overtime period.
UM coach Pam Remmey on the game: “(It was a) very exciting game that went to overtime. This was a big step for the Bears’ program, ending in a scoreless tie with a team like Upper Dublin that has a history of being in the playoffs. Although this wasn’t a team win – we look at it as a ‘team success.’
“We still need to get less corners defensively, but we are discussing that and working on that every day in practice. I was happy we were able to keep Upper Dublin off the scoreboard but wish we could’ve forced more offensive corners to put a goal in.
“Here we are about halfway through the season, and we are really coming together as a team – not only the starters, but several players off the bench that get quality time and are a part of our success! After the game, our captains commented that everything we’ve been working on in practice and in the offseason is starting to come together and allowing us to compete in these higher-level games.”
–Getting defensive: “Our defense played together and communicated so well today! I don’t always stay calm, but our defense played very calm in our own circle, communicating and getting the ball out. Our goalie, Addi Hurley, had another tremendous game with 13 saves and no goals allowed.
“Kelly Bates and Izzy Duncan led our defensive unit, including Mac Reilly, Hannah Gardner and Addi Gans making her first varsity start this season.
–Props: “Both teams had scoring chances. Ella Gould played well at both forward and mid, while Olivia Torres, Kyleigh Convey, Charleis Fayall and Melisa Torpey had several breakaways and awesome passing to move the ball up the field.”
Up next: Upper Dublin (2-6-1, 2-3-0 SOL) will host Pennsbury on Wednesday in a non-league game, and Upper Moreland (5-4-1, 3-3) will host Central Bucks East Wednesday.

ABINGTON 2, WILLIAM TENNENT 0
Maeve Link scored a first-quarter goal that stood as the game-winner, and Janice Coonahan added an insurance goal in the fourth quarter.
Senior goalie Caitlin Murcar recorded four saves in the first three quarters while sophomore goalie Keely Gallagher stepped in and recorded three saves in the fourth quarter to preserve the shutout.
Scoring Summary
1st quarter – No score
2nd quarter
Maeve Link (A) from Natalie Neumann 5:36 (1-0)
3rd quarter – No score
4th quarter
Janice Coonahan (A) from Gwen Judge 1:09 (2-0)
Abington coach Janine Larr: “The girls were excited to come into this game after a win Friday. They were hoping to come out and get another win, and they did just that. We did a great job of getting the ball down in Tennent’s circle, but we were struggling to convert on our corners today. The girls never gave up though and found other opportunities to score and secure the win. I am really proud of them, and everyone stepped up and contributed to get this win.”
–Offensive props: “Maeve Link was a huge presence on the offensive end, particularly in the first half. She was heavily involved in almost every offensive play throughout the game today and did a great job getting the ball down the field and in scoring position for Abington. She has a beautiful shot on cage, and we needed that early in the game to get an offensive spark going.
“Janice Coonahan also worked hard on the offensive end. She showed a lot of hustle and heart all game, and her goal showed her desire and ability to put the ball in the net.
“Junior forward Brooke Dougherty also played a key role by helping get the ball up the field and into Tennent’s circle. Brooke does a great job of bringing the ball down the field and crossing it in the circle to help set up shots or create corner opportunities.”
–More props: “Sophomore mid Morgan Gillette had another great game for us on the defensive end. She made it difficult for Tennent to get the ball down the field and was instrumental in helping prevent a lot of offensive opportunities for Tennent. Senior defensive back Sophia Afflisio had an amazing game as well on the back line. I don’t think she allowed the ball to get past her at any point during the game.
“Our mid line of Carly Hughes, Danika D’Angelo, and Natalie Neumann also really stepped up on the defensive end. They made a lot of key plays to help keep the ball out of our circle the majority of the game.”
