NESHAMINY 1, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0
It took three quarters and most of the fourth for either team to find the cage, but Kasey Rieger broke a scoreless tie with just over five minutes remaining in regulation, connecting on a goal that turned out to be the game-winner. Claire Saloky had the assist.
The win was the sixth without a loss for the Redskins in division play.
Scoring Summary
First Quarter – No score
Second Quarter – No score
Third Quarter – No score
Fourth Quarter
Kasey Rieger (N) from Claire Saloky 5:18
Neshaminy coach Jamie Pinto on the game: “We had to make some adjustments due to injuries— we were able to work together and step up tonight. We were able to control the ball in our offensive end for most of the game. We caused 17 corners but were only able to capitalize on one. I’m proud of the way we played tonight and were able to adjust when we needed to— this was a good way to start off the second half our season.”
–Props: “Forwards Mia Brooks and Kasey Rieger did a great job cutting back and generating offense. Paige Comer and Ava Arbakov hustled at mid, and defensively Alayna Roscoe and Taylor Tenaglia did a nice job stepping up.”
Council Rock South coach Kelly Cappellano on the game: “I honestly think it was an evenly matched game in the field. Both teams had chances to score and played good defense. Maria Freeman was able to stop their top scorer and Carly Conetta stopped multiple corner plays in a row. The only difference is that they were able to capitalize (on a quick corner shot) and we did not.”
Up next: Neshaminy (9-3, 6-0 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Monday (7 pm), and Council Rock South (4-5-3, 3-3-0) will host Pennridge in a non-league game Monday (7 pm).

Kailyn Smith stole the spotlight in Thursday’s win, scoring three goals and assisting on another in a standout performance.
Smith scored an unassisted goal six minutes into the contest, a goal that would turn out to be the game-winner. Her second goal later in the opening quarter was assisted by Payton Helsman.
Late in the second quarter, Smith scored with an Izzy Teitelman assist, and she put the finishing touches on a big game when she set up Ashley Kim’s goal in the fourth quarter for the 4-0 final.

Council Rock North coach Jules Singer on the win: “Shoutout to Kailyn Smith for the hat trick and the assist and Ashley Kim for the goal.”
Bensalem coach Gary Kubik on the game: “We continue to play segments of games and not a whole complete game. There were times today where we competed, played hard, communicated well, and there were other times where we looked out of sync and disorganized. We had two good quarters today, and we have to build on that. So, it is with this season. Each game we try to raise our competitiveness and play a whole game. We’re getting there. Play as a unit and compete, that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Up next: Council Rock North (7-6, 5-1 SOL) will travel to Unionville Friday for a non-league contest, and Bensalem (4-8, 1-5) will travel to Pennsbury Tuesday for a 7 pm contest.

PENNSBURY 10, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
(Article submitted by Pennsbury field hockey)
The Falcons kept their win streak alive on their home turf with a victory over Truman yesterday.
Scoring in every quarter, PHS connected ten times and held their opponent to zero to shut out the Tigers 10-0.
“The Truman goalie played an awesome game, denying a majority of our 36 shots on goal,” said PHS head coach Traci Curtis. “It is inspiring to watch their players play with heart and a never-give-up attitude.
“I always walk away from our games against them with a smile, not because of our victory, but because of the raw determination of the Truman team that is more real than many of us can admit to having. The coaches are doing a great job helping the team grow and progress in the sport. It’s so nice to see.”
Abby Iacona kicked off the scoring for the black and orange with a beautiful shot on goal during a penalty corner in the first quarter – assisted by inserter Ava Jordan. Rylee Askey notched two consecutive goals to finish out the first 15 minutes, sending PHS into the second quarter up 3-0.
Olivia Coen was the lone scorer in the second quarter with great reaction and pressuring the goalie’s pads. Abby Anderer earned the assist for that goal putting the Falcons up 4-0 going into the half.
Pennsbury tallied three goals in the third quarter, lighting up the scoreboard 7-0. Liv Coen was not slowing down on attack as she assisted one and scored one during that time. Allison Goldfarb scored on a beautiful finish, batting the ball out of the air into the cage with authority (assisted by Coen)! Delaney Jones added an unassisted, strong, hard shot past the keeper, and Coen used her awesome reverse stick lifting skills to work it around the goalie while fighting in front of the cage.
The Falcons, once again, scored three goals in the final quarter to finish out the game winning 10-0. Ella Bray, Ryan Burdette, and Ava Jordan were the goal scorers with Liv Coen assisting two of the three.
“We were very pleased with the effort in the attacking circle to finish,” Curtis said. “Any opportunity we get to be successful and gain confidence in that space is great for us as a whole.
“This is the height of intensity for the season as we prepare to enter back into league play over the final few weeks. We have a lot of work to do and plan to take our momentum and double down.”
The Falcons (9-3, 3-3 SOL) will travel to Quakertown on Monday to kick off the week. Harry S Truman (0-11, 0-6) will host Bristol in a non-league game Monday.

SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (OT)
On the heels of perhaps their best performance of the season in a win over Quakertown Tuesday, the Indians appeared to be on their way to a win in regulation over a pesky South squad. The Titans, however, had other ideas and knotted the score with 40 seconds remaining on a goal by Erin Kelly.
With one minute and 54 seconds separating both teams from a tie, Tatum Andrews scored an unassisted goal from the top of the circle to propel the Indians to the hard-fought win.
During regulation, the two teams exchanged goals with the Indians twice taking a lead only to see the Titans battle back.
The two teams battled to a scoreless halftime tie, and less than a minute into the second half, Gianna Radcliffe found the cage after back-to-back-to-back saves by South goalie Nora McQueen. Ten minutes later, South’s Tessa Walls scored with an assist from Erin Kelly, and it was deadlocked heading into the fourth quarter.
Ava Jones turned a Julia Blair pass during corner play into a goal early in the fourth quarter, a lead that disappeared when Kelly connected on the rebound of a goalie save of a shot by Ella Haag during corner play.
The Indians held an advantage in shots (12-9) while the Titans had the edge in corners (11-4). McQueen was credited with eight saves.

Souderton coach Sue Casiato on the game: “We were lucky to escape with a win today. CB South always gives us a good game, and today was no different. We struggled all day to find the energy level we had for the Quakertown game a few days ago. Every time we managed to convert in our circle, South struck back.
“They scored on a corner (to tie it at the end of regulation), and obviously, they were sky high coming into overtime. We were just flat all day. We were really lucky to escape with a win, which would have been so disappointing after playing so well Tuesday and then not to be able to back it up with a win today.”
–The game-winner: “Tatum had a reverse sweep from the top left part of the circle. She came off the field and said, ‘I’ve never done that before,’ which she hasn’t. She got a pretty good shot off with a lot pace and good direction.”
Central Bucks South coach Kelli Chioffe on the game: “Our coaching staff is so proud of this Titan team. They played well together today. At the start of the game, I gave them a quote to ponder, telling them that successful teams play unselfish, play together and play hard. Well, that is exactly what they did today. They fought hard against a very strong Souderton team.
“Souderton had some really great lifts that they sent down into our half of the field. Our defense stayed composed and kept them out of our circle as much as we could. Holding them from scoring until the third quarter was really fantastic for us.
“Kudos to Souderton for finishing the game by scoring with less than two minutes to go in the period. (Tatum Andrews) dribbled in and shot what looked like a chip into the goal cage.”
–The scoring: “Tessa Walls got us on the scoreboard with a beautifully executed lift on corner play.
“When Erin Kelly scored on an Ella Haag assist on corner play with less than a minute to go in regulation, we were so thrilled. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but we played with composure.”
–Props: “Sophia Kraft had a defensive save, and our defensive backs – Kelly Hemsley and Ella Haag – really played superior today.
“(Tessa Walls) is no nonsense. When she receives the ball, she either passes it to her teammate, to open space or onto goal. She has a great vision on the field. She is also a great lacrosse player and is fantastic at sending the ball to where she wants it to go.
“Midfielder Avery Tyler also did a great job of getting through the double teaming efforts of Souderton. Our offense composed of Kaeli VanDerSluis, Erin Kelly, Ella Marchesi and Carrie Williams capitalized in the circle today. We have been having some difficulty scoring lately but were able to get some crucial shots off today.
“Shoutout to our freshman goalkeeper, Nora McQueen, for saving eight shots on the goal today.”
Up next: Souderton (9-3, 4-2 SOL) will travel to Pennridge Tuesday for a 7 pm game, and Central Bucks South (5-7-1, 1-5-0) will be on the road at Central Bucks East Tuesday for a 3:15 p.m. game.

The Knights were looking to rebound after back-to-back 4-2 losses to Wissahickon and then Plymouth Whitemarsh. Tuesday’s loss to PW in a game North Penn led 2-0 early was especially disappointing but bounce back the Knights did in Thursday’s first game of the second go-round in division play.
Laura Albert – who is having herself quite a senior season – led the Knights with two goals and an assist. She connected for her first goal in the first quarter, and in the second quarter, Albert assisted on a goal by Ashleigh Barwis that sent the Knights into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Albert scored her second goal – this one with a Kylie Barwis assist – in the final minute of the third quarter for the 3-0 final.

North Penn coach Shannon McCracken on the win: “We had a little bit of a rough go-around in our crossover games with PW and Wissahickon against two good teams (both 4-2 losses), but I thought both games were evenly matched games. I thought we kind of needed to have a little bit of a gut check, so this was a really great bounce back for us to come in tonight, play strong and get back to some of the things we do well, which is using the entire team – passing, moving off the ball, thinking about making smart passes, communicating on the field.
“We were doing the things well we needed to do tonight, and we scored on two penalty corners, which is great. They were well executed.”
–Props: “Midfielders Laura Albert and Ashleigh Barwis had strong games in the center by stopping many of CB East’s transitions on their attack and then distributed the ball well to our attack. Midfielder Devon Crowley and forward Kylie Barwis kept possession of the ball on the right and attacked with creativity and speed.”

Aida Ierubino scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Bucks to the shutout win in Thursday’s first game in the second round of Colonial Division play.
The Bucks scored a goal in each of the four quarters, and it was Claire Demmer turning a pass from Ierubino into a goal on a penalty corner three minutes into the game.
Demmer returned the favor in the second quarter, setting up Ierubino’s first goal that sent the Bucks into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
In the opening minute of the second half, Ierubino scored again – this time with an assist from Zola Morelli, and Ierubino’s unassisted goal in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring.
West’s Eve Damsker was credited with a defensive save.
With the win, the Bucks upped their record to 6-0 and hold a two-game lead in the standings over Souderton and North Penn.

QUAKERTOWN 2, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0
With three teams -including Quakertown and PW – boasting identical 4-1 records atop the division standings, Thursday’s opening game of the second go-round loomed large.
For two quarters, neither team could find the net, and the game was scoreless heading into halftime.
Two minutes into the second half, Paige Longacre scored on a ball off the goalie’s pads, and Sunny Draper added an insurance goal late in the fourth as the Panthers earned the important win.
Scoring Summary
First Quarter – No Score
Second Quarter – No Score
Third Quarter
Paige Longacre (Q) 12:59
Fourth Quarter
Sunny Draper (Q) 3:27
Quakertown coach MacKenzie Moser on the game: “Today’s game was a battle, and we all came to play. First two quarters there was a lot of back and forth, but during the third and fourth quarters, we were able to capitalize.
“We moved as one unit today, supporting each other from the back defense to middle line of midfielders and all the way up to the offensive line. Every player showed up today to play and that’s what contributed to a successful win for us.”
–The scoring: “Paige Longacre got us on the board with a rebound and lift over the goalie to hit the back of the cage with 12:59 left in the third. Sunnay Draper put a second one in during the fourth with a solid drive to the back of the cage with 3:27 left in the game.”
–Props: “I have to hand some props to my defense today as they were a powerful force today. PW had multiple corners on us, and our defense stood strong. Our goalie, Darcy Baxter, was agile in the cage today, serving up many strong clears and great saves. Our center defender, Ember Retter, had multiple clears out wide, strong stops and just overall phenomenal play back there to help us out.”
–A good start in division play: “Today was huge for us. We needed to bounce back after a loss to Souderton – which was another hard battled game. This win helped us to regain confidence in our play.
“PW is a skilled team, and we knew today was going to be a competitive one. PW held tight coverage, and we knew we had to step to every ball, cut off their passes as they transferred and make every opportunity count in front of their goal cage. We have been talking about unity and keeping the connection between all players a must. They moved together, supporting one another whenever necessary. It was a team effort today, with all hands on deck.
“They have been putting in the work at every practice, so to take a loss after a hard fought battle against Souderton and kind of wipe it off and then go in to another difficult game is challenging. We definitely needed this to give the team a little confidence boost and get back on our grind. We have had some hard matchups the last two weeks, so it’s nice to see hard-earned and well-played successes like this one, especially against division teams.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Charise Halteman on the game: “We played a strong game against Quakertown but couldn’t find a way to put the ball in the back of the cage despite many scoring opportunities.”
Up next: Quakertown (10-2, 5-1 SOL) will host Pennsbury in a non-league game Monday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (8-4, 4-2) will host Wissahickon Tuesday in another key division battle.

Abington coach Janine Larr on the game: “We were really happy with how the team came out and played today. We have been working hard in practice and feel they really executed some things we have been working on in today’s game. We were happy our offense was able to get things going early this game after a slow start against CB South on Monday. Everyone played a part in getting the win today and we hope to carry this momentum into our upcoming games.”
–The scoring: “Junior forward Maeve Link scored the first goal of the game off an assist by senior defensive back Sophia Afflisio during corner play in the first quarter at the 6:29 mark. The game remained at 1-0 until less than one second remained in the second quarter when junior forward Brooke Dougherty scored off a beautiful pass from sophomore forward Addison Harrington to put Abington up 2-0 at the half. Link then added a security goal in the third quarter on a stroke that put Abington up 3-0. That score stood until the end of the game.”
–Props: “Maeve Link played a big hand in the win today. She helped spark the offense with a great goal in the first quarter. She was key in intercepting the ball on the field and getting it up into Hatboro’s circle for offensive opportunities.
“Junior forward Brooke Dougherty also played a key role for Abington. Brooke has been working hard and has been finding the back of the net for us in games. Her speed and hustle on the field also helps create a lot of offensive opportunities for us in the circle.
“Sophomore center-mid Carly Hughes also made some key plays in the midfield. She was huge in not letting Hatboro get many hits down the field. She helped keep the ball on Hatboro’s end of the field throughout the game, which helped set the tone and pace of the game.
“Sophomore goalie Keely Gallagher did a great job of setting up the shutout in the first three quarters of play while senior goalie Caitlin Murcar maintained it in the fourth quarter.”

Upper Moreland coach Pam Remmey on the game: “We played tough throughout this second time league matchup. William Tennent came ready to play and was very physical. We had chances in the circle, but just could not find the back of the net.
“We kept thinking we would score, but it never happened. Then on a breakdown on defense, William Tennent was able to score with 10 minutes left in the game. Then they scored another with five minutes left to put the game out of reach.
“This was a tough loss. We were missing three starters with illness and others were fighting through feeling sick during the game. It was pouring down rain most of the games, the calls were not going our way, and we did not have the home field advantage. But no excuses, because it just wasn’t our day. We will have to rebound quickly from this one with a home game tomorrow.”
–Props: “Melissa Torpey was feisty in the circle and Ella Gould was relentless putting the ball into the circle for scoring chances. Izzy Duncan, Bridget Hess and Savannah Anderson played well at mids, pushing the ball up the field.
