CB West notched a win in SOL field hockey action Friday. Wissahickon/Quakertown battled to a tie.

WISSAHICKON 1, QUAKERTOWN 1 (OT)
In a classic battle befitting the Liberty Division’s top two squads, the Panthers and Trojans both scored a first-quarter goal, but it was hardly a preview of things to come as neither found the cage again through three evenly played quarters and an overtime period.
“This was a game to see as it was a hard-fought battle by both teams,” Quakertown coach MacKenzie Moser said.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard first with 6:30 remaining in the opening quarter when Paige Longacre scored with a Sunny Draper assist.
“Our goal came from a strong execution of a corner where Sunday Draper took the shot and Paige Longacre redirected the ball into the back of the cage,” Moser said.
It took the Trojans less than two minutes to answer with Kayla Pak turning a Carly Lehman pass into the equalizer, a goal that marked the end of the scoring for both sides.
The goalkeepers from both squads turned in stellar outings with Quakertown’s Anna Haberle recording 15 saves while Wissahickon’s Ava Fell had 14.
“Every player on the field gave it their all tonight especially our goalkeeper, Anna Haberle, who had multiple great saves even through strongly executed defensive corners sending hard shots at her,” Moser said. “This was an extremely well-played game of hockey despite the dreary weather.”
Wissahickon (9-1-1, 9-0-1 SOL) will travel to Springfield Twp on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game, and Quakertown (10-1-1, 9-0-1) will be on the road at New Hope-Solebury on Tuesday (6 p.m.).

Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 7, ABINGTON 0
Aide Ierubino had assists on five her team’s seven goals while teammate Mimi Duffy connected for a hat trick to lead the visiting Bucks to Friday’s non-league win.
“All elements were aligned,” West coach David DeAngelis said. “The pitch at Abington was superb and fast – it is as close to Astroturf as you can get for high school field hockey, and a light game-time mist helped to keep all student-athletes comfortable. This was suitable for how our team plays – fast and attacking.
“Throughout the match, we were able to maintain crisp passing sequences and ball movement. It was a complete team effort as all lines and all student-athletes made contributions.”
Nina Mayro’s goal with an Aide Ierubino assist with six minutes remaining in the first quarter marked the beginning of a 4-0 West tear to close out the half.
Duffy (Ierubino assist) scored less than a minute into the second quarter, and two minutes later, Duffy and Ierubino teamed up for another goal and a 3-0 West lead. Emily Taylor scored with time expired in the half during corner play, also using an Ierubino assist.
Duffy (Ierubino assist) and Lily Cosner (Lucy Damsker assist) scored third-quarter goals, and Damsker closed out the scoring with a goal early in the fourth quarter, using a Cosner assist.
“We look forward to the weekend – rest and recover,” DeAngelis said. “We team up and collaborate with our sister school (CB East) and co-host the CB East & West Field Hockey Clinic on War Memorial Field on Sunday.
Central Bucks West (11-1, 9-1 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Tuesday at 7 p.m., and Abington (4-6, 3-5) will be on the road at William Tennent on Tuesday.
