SOL Patriot Division
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, PENNSBURY 1
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead three minutes into the game when Abby Anderer found the cage.
It took the Indians just three minutes to even the score on a goal by Keiley Lyons goal, and then, with one second remaining in the quarter, Kailyn Smith scored to give the Indians a lead they would not lose..
It was a one-goal game until the fourth quarter when the Indians added goals by Morgan Owens and Bryn Bogle.
With the win, the Indians up their record to 3-1 in league play, good for second place in the Patriot Division standings.
Scoring Summary
1st quarter
Abby Anderer (P) from Abby Iacona 12:16 (1-0)
Keiley Lyons (CRN) from Taylor Dahms 9:06 (1-1)
Kailyn Smith (CRN) 0:01 (2-1)
2nd quarter – No score
3rd quarter – No score
4th quarter
Morgan Owens (CRN) from Kailyn Smith 13:03 (3-1)
Brynn Bogle (CRN) 10:03 (4-1)
CR North coach Jules Singer on the win: “It is always fun and competitive playing Pennsbury. Traci and her coaching staff have really done a great job coaching them, and they always bring the energy, and we knew that going into the game.
“Pennsbury got on the board first and capitalized on an opportunity in front of the cage. We knew we had to come back and not play on our heels, and Keiley scored on a corner that really helped us gain confidence back. The real momentum shifter for us was the last-second goal from Kailyn. We focus on grittiness and finishing in the circle, and that was an awesome goal to end the first half.
“For the next quarter, the keeper on Pennsbury was lights out, and there was a lot of play in the middle of the field. It wasn’t until the last quarter two minutes in – we got our opportunity where Morgan Owens scored on a tip from Kailyn Smith. Pennsbury took some really nice shots, but our goalie Cara Moriarty played awesome in cage and stopped five scoring opportunities. With 10 minutes left, Brynn scored off of a corner rebound. Overall, it was a great game, and I’m really proud of the girls for getting it done”
Up next: Council Rock North (3-2, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman, and Pennsbury (3-2, 2-2) will host Council Rock South Wednesday (7 pm).

The Pennsbury Falcons, coming off of a hard fought battle against Neshaminy on Thursday, traveled to CR North for another league match up. This highly anticipated standoff is always a great game filled with highs and lows and everything in between. Today the lows outweighed the highs for PHS.
The orange and black jumped out on fire and connected in the opening three minutes to take the lead 1-0.
“The passing series up the field was beautifully executed. Many players had a hand in getting that ball up to the circle, and to finish, Abby Iacona sent a pass to Abby Anderer out wide, and Anderer just finished with strength,” explained head coach, Traci Curtis. “It was really well done and exactly what we had worked on for weeks.
“What is funny is that is exactly what Neshaminy did to us a few days earlier. It felt good to be on the other side of that play in the opening minutes this time.”
CR North didn’t flinch. Three minutes later they tallied their first goal to tie it up, giving PHS no time at all to really enjoy the slim lead.
“One thing about Rock is you can never let down for one second,” said Curtis. “They will come at you extra hard if they even sniff a lull.”
And that is exactly what happened. With about nine seconds left in the first quarter, CRN gained possession outside of their offensive circle and worked their way right through the Falcon defense to take the lead 2-1 at the buzzer.
“That was a dagger in the heart moment,” Curtis admitted. “We were tied 1-1 and could have taken that into the next quarter, but then in a split second, we found ourselves down by one. It should have never happened at all. We mismanaged the clock and flubbed a free hit and should have been better in that moment.”
The second and third quarters were scoreless, however Council Rock kept knocking on the Falcons’ door with repeated penalty corners.
“Our defense was exhausted and managed to stop a tirade of corners, but they just were not working well together today for some reason. The unit seemed ‘off’ as a whole,” Curtis said. “Unfortunately, we could not get our offense going enough to have solid opportunities. Some of those connections after that opening play seemed to just dissipate.”
It remained a 2-1 game going into the fourth quarter, and now it was a battle of who was able to dig the deepest. North solidified their stance on digging deep by scoring their third goal two minutes into the final quarter. Down 3-1, Pennsbury had a lot of work to do, but the job got even more difficult when CRN added another goal three minutes later to make it 4-1 with ten minutes left in the game.
“There was still plenty of time, but we just could not get our act together today,” Curtis said. “I will not put all of the responsibility on the players. We as coaches needed to dig deeper as well. We seemed to run out of strategies and ideas. We should have used our timeout, and we didn’t and that could have been helpful and that was our mistake.
“There were many bright spots in the mess today and we cannot forget that. Anderer connecting to score a goal was one of them. She did really well up front communicating, guiding, and helping to create offense. Angelina Kenney is a huge spark of speed, stepping to the ball, and energy that never seems to fade. Her defensive fire helps us out tremendously in so many moments. We made some great passing choices up the line that worked really well and we applied many things that we talked about coming off our loss last week.
“Jules does an incredible job with her team ,and it’s always a great game between us. Kudos to her girls who fought hard, never let down, and came at us with heart and skill that outdid us. Sierra Kim in the backfield is a super smart player who really took advantage of some key moments and helped her team earn that win. North had four different players score, which is also a key to success.”
The two teams will meet again later in the season for another great battle. Pennsbury will get to work as they prepare to play the other Rock – CR South – on Wednesday night at Falcon Field.

SOUDERTON 1, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (OT)
Don’t be fooled by the score.
The Indians dominated play during regulation in Monday’s game. That dominance is underscored by the fact that – for the game – they had 19 shots and 12 penalty corners, but they had absolutely nothing to show for it on the scoreboard at the end of regulation.
East goalie Camryn Puhalla certainly had a whole lot to do with that, turning away 17 of 18 shots she faced. The Patriots, meanwhile, managed just three shots and two corners.
The Indians won it when Tatum Andrews turned a crossing pass from Ava Jones into a goal with 2:45 remaining in overtime.
There’s something about the recent Souderton-CB East contests. This is their third 1-0 game with East winning both last year, but Souderton finishing on top Monday.
Scoring Summary
1st quarter – No score
2nd quarter – No score
3rd quarter – No score
4th quarter – No score
OT – Tatum Andrews (S) from Ava Jones 2:45 (1-0)
Souderton coach Sue Casciato on the game: “We just are struggling to score goals. We’re right there. I don’t know what it is. We spend so much time in practice, working in the offensive circle. I think every game other that Methacton we have been way high in shots.
“We did start very slow today. East came out with way more energy than we did. Middle of the second quarter or close to halftime, we started to get untracked, which has pretty much also been our MO – we play a very slow, kind of sloppy first half and then we come to life the second half. It took us 67 ½ minutes to score.
“Their goalie (Camryn Puhalla) was fabulous today. Julia Blair took a reverse chip that went off the top cross bar. There were six (shots) up the in air where she made saves. You’re standing on the sidelines saying ‘Oh, that’s in,’ and all of a sudden, her hand comes over and stops the ball. When we played Carroll the other night, their goalie was fabulous, but we can’t keep using the excuse that the other team’s goalie is fabulous. At some point, we have to put the ball in.”
–The game-winner: “By that point we were seven-and-a-half minutes into overtime, and both teams were not moving up and down the field too quickly. Ava (Jones) took the ball down the right side, crossed it to Tatum (Andrews), who was in stride and scored. It was a nice goal.”
–Props: “Definitely in overtime, Hannah Fuente, who was playing a mid position, saved us because literally out of everybody on the field, she probably was the person still running. A couple of times they broke through, and she came back from the mid position to defend them below the 20. She did that several times.”
CB East coach Emma Rosenthal on the game: “Souderton’s a great team- aggressive and well coached. I encouraged us to leave today with our heads held high. Our defense played great and forced overtime, and once we got into overtime, I really felt like we controlled the 7v7. But with the golden goal, all it takes is that one breakaway.”
–Props: “Camryn Puhalla played her heart out in goal today with 18 saves. A few of those saves were really incredible. She kept us in it today. Props to the whole defensive unit and especially the defensive corner unit. They were really a rock today.”
Up next: Souderton (5-2, 3-1 SOL) will travel to North Penn Wednesday, and Central Bucks East (2-4-1, 2-2) will host Central Bucks West Wednesday (7 pm).

The Bucks led 2-0 at halftime and added two goals in both the third and fourth quarters.
The Bucks took 21 shots on goal to just one for CB South. South goalie Brianna Lucas was credited with 15 saves.

4th quarter
Aida Ierubino (CBW) from Calista Boos 2:55 (5-0)
Calista Boos (CBW) from Laney Hall 6:16 (6-0)
CB West coach Lori Ierubino on the game: “We finally had all our players available to play and we were successful when we used our passing game to capitalize on our speed. CB South did a very nice job of breaking up our corners and we were fortunate to be able to score on field (of play) goals. We have a busy week ahead with three more games and we are looking to improve our connections as a team with each game.”
–The scoring: “In the second quarter, Aida scored an unassisted shot after carrying the ball across the circle for the first goal. Then Heidi Schoenleber redirected a corner shot from Aida. In the third quarter, Aida scored the third goal on a corner shot with an assist from Heidi, and then Aida scored after driving in the circle on a reverse. In the fourth quarter, Aida scored on a breakaway after Calista Boos threaded the needle beautifully, splitting the defense. Calista Boos closed out the scoring off a pass from Laney Hall.”
CB South coach Kelli Chioffe says: “CB West is a very strong well coached team. The positives in this game were that we played really strong the first quarter, not allowing CBW to score. We also never gave up even though they were bombarding us with shots in the circle. We will continue to work on our passing and possession game.”

WISSAHICKON 4, QUAKERTOWN 1
