It was a rough night for the Suburban One League as all three SOL football teams lost in Friday’s district semifinals.

CLASS 6A
#1-3 GARNET VALLEY 28, #1-7 PENNRIDGE 20
The Rams took a 14-7 lead into halftime, and things looked promising, but the Jaguars scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a lead they would not lose.
Garnet Valley led 7-0 after one quarter, but the Rams erased that deficit in a hurry in the second. Zak Kantor took it in from one yard out to knot the score, and Kyle Schetter’s five-yard touchdown run midway through the quarter sent the Rams into halftime with a seven-point lead.
In the opening half, the Rams held a 188-129 advantage in total yards. They had 15 first downs to just seven for the Jaguars.
Matt Lassik’s 41-yard touchdown run knotted the score early in the third quarter, and the Jaguars took the lead on Danny Guy’s 92-yard punt return. That lead grew to 28-14 before the Rams – who were without senior standout Nick Tarburton (disciplinary reasons) – scored a touchdown to pull to within eight when Kantor hooked up with Cooper Chaikin for a 30-yard TD.
That’s as close as the Rams would get.
Pennridge (10-3, 5-1 SOL) will host Quakertown in a Thanksgiving Day game that appeared to be very much in jeopardy. Game time is 10:15 a.m.

#1-4 COATESVILLE 42, #1-8 PENNSBURY 2
Forget the fact that the Red Raiders are the district’s fourth seed. Coatesville is the pick of many to win the District One 6A title, and on Friday, the Red Raiders certainly looked the part, rolling to a mercy rule win.
The Red Raiders put 14 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter and upped that lead to 21-0 on a Ricky Ortega touchdown pass. The Falcons were on the move, but momentum swung completely in Coatesville’s favor when Aaron Young came up with an interception and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown and a 28-0 halftime lead.
In the half, Ortega threw for 109 yards and ran for 75 more, accounting for 184 of Coatesville’s 260 yards of total offense.
When Ortega took it in from 20 yards out early in the third quarter, the Raiders led 35-0, and the mercy rule went into effect.
Ortega finished with more than 300 yards of offense and four touchdowns – 127 on the ground and 178 in the air.
Pennsbury closed out a successful season with a 10-3 record overall. They were 5-1 in the SOL National Conference.

CLASS 5A
#1-1 SPRINGFIELD-DELCO 17, #1-5 UPPER DUBLIN 6
The Flying Cardinals hung tough in Friday’s district semifinal, limiting the top-seeded Cougars to just 17 points, but their offense never could get untracked against a stalwart Springfield defense.
Ja’Den Mackenzie’s 13-yard touchdown run put the Cougars on the scoreboard midway through the first quarter. A field goal sent the Cougars into halftime with a 10-0 lead.
The Cardinals had a chance to get themselves back in the game in the third quarter, but a drive stalled in the red zone. Their field goal attempt was no good, and the score remained 10-0. The Cougars made it a 17-0 game when Kyle Long caught a 17-yard touchdown pass with 3:33 remaining in the contest.
Upper Dublin answered with its best drive of the night and trimmed the Cougars’ lead to 17-6 when Julian Gimbel hooked up with Jack Jamison for a touchdown. That’s as close as the Cardinals would get.
Upper Dublin closed out its season with an 8-4 overall record. They were 4-2 in SOL play.
