NORTH PENN 20, PENNSBURY 0
Football teams making the trip to Pennsbury know one thing with complete certainty – points will not be easy to come by. Add North Penn to the long list of teams that struggled to find any kind of offensive rhythm against the Falcons. Especially in the first half.
The Knights had the only points on the board at halftime – seven points for a touchdown that took just one play (a TD run by Matt Pownall) and covered nine yards after Nate Sheffield blocked a Falcon punt.
The Falcons, meanwhile, never seriously threatened in the half.
“It was a bad first half,” said Knights’ coach Dick Beck, whose team took that 7-0 lead into halftime.
The Knights opened the second half with a 75-yard scoring drive that was capped when Rylei Gray – on a halfback pass – connected with a wide open Sal Colella for a 37-yard touchdown strike and a 13-0 North Penn lead.
Later in the second half, quarterback Matt Bucksar dropped back to pass, realized he didn’t have any open receivers and dashed 24 yards to the Falcons’ 32. Several plays later, Bucksar raced into the end zone on a 10-yard touchdown run that gave the Knights their final margin of victory.
“I thought Mason Franek made a huge catch on our sideline on fourth down to keep the chains moving,” Beck said. “I also thought our front seven had their best day.
“Christian Barnes has been a game-changer for us since he’s been in the starting lineup (at defensive end). He’s really been causing havoc.”
Included in the Knights’ front seven in addition to Barnes were Aiden Ashley, Jacob Garrett, Lucas Oropeza, Nate Sheffield, Marselis Kimbur and Darin Burner.
The Falcons’ best chance to get on the scoreboard came in the second half after blocking a North Penn punt, but the try for a 35-yard field goal sailed wide.
Up next: North Penn (6-2, 3-2 SOL) will host Central Bucks West on Friday, and Pennsbury (0-8, 0-5) will travel to Abington Friday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 41, WILLIAM TENENT 18
The Hatters won for the second time in as many weeks Friday, opening up a 20-12 halftime lead and then putting the game out of reach in the second half.
A pair of Hatters surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark. Ty Teasley led the way with 10 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns while Nathan Gockley had 13 carries for 117 yards and one touchdown.
A recap of the game would show that the two teams exchanged first-quarter touchdowns. Gavin Mensch scored on a 30-yard run to give Tennent a 6-0 lead, and then it was Teasley scoring on a four-yard run, and after a successful PAT, the Hatters led 7-6.
In the second quarter, Teegan Stanfield scored a touchdown for the Panthers, but the Hatters answered with back-to-back TDs to go into halftime with a 20-12 advantage. The first was a five-yard run by Gockley, and then it was Teasley with an 87-yard touchdown run.
A six-yard Thomas Gartland touchdown sent the Hatters into the final quarter with a 27-12 advantage. Gartland had three carries for 56 yards.
Quarterback Brendan Heaphy scored on a four-yard touchdown run to put the Hatters on top 34-12, but the Panthers answered with a TD. An eight-yard touchdown pass from Heaphy to Miller gave the Hatters their final margin of victory, 41-18.
“The O-line and D-lines were great,” Hatters’ coach Tom Butts said.
Comprising the Hatters offensive line were Landon Mitchell, Dominic Grandinetti, Shane Maloney, Nathan Wislowski and Michael Randa.
“Randa had a great game coming off injury,” Butts said.
Heaphy threw for 55 yards and a touchdown and also had four carries for 22 yards and a TD.
Up next: Hatboro-Horsham (2-6, 2-1 SOL) will host Wissahickon for next Friday’s Homecoming game, and William Tennent (1-7, 0-3) will host Springfield Twp on Friday.
