SOL non-league crossover

Bensalem 56, Upper Moreland 18

The outcome was never in question.

Bensalem came out quickly and never looked back in dominating Upper Moreland by a 56-18 count in Saturday’s SOL crossover matchup.

The Owls also closed the game in strong fashion, outscoring the Bears 15-3 in the fourth quarter.

Key players: Grace McShane scored 9 of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter to help spark the Owls to a 14-2 lead after one period. Falyn Savage scored 9 for Bensalem, and Kaleaya Wingate scored all 8 of her points in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Sheila Mangin led the Golden Bears with 8 points.

Bensalem coach Steve Johnson:

—On the win: “This was a nice bounce-back win for us. Our girls played four complete quarters. We’re looking forward to a division test on Tuesday vs Neshaminy.”

Up next: Bensalem will host Neshaminy on Tuesday, and Upper Moreland will travel to Abington for a nonleague game Monday.

Great Valley 49, Council Rock North 39

The Indians – sparked by four points from both Lauren Smith and Alexa Bondra – led 13-10 after one quarter. The visiting Patriots outscored the Indians 12-7 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 22-20 advantage.

A strong third quarter swung the momentum as Great Valley turned a 2-point halftime lead into a 12-point advantage after the third quarter, handing Council Rock North a 49-39 defeat in Saturday’s nonleague matchup.

Key players: Lauren Smith led the Indians with 12 points, including a pair of three-point field goals. Alexa Bondra had eight.

Up next: Council Rock North will be on the road at Harry S Truman Tuesday.

Boyertown 52, Pennridge 38

The visiting Lady Rams buried eight 3-pointers in Saturday’s non-league road game, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Bears, who took a 14-11 lead after one quarter and went into halftime with a 26-18 advantage on their way to the win.

Madison Lapp scored 14 points – which included three 3s – to lead the Rams. Megan Moylan also buried three 3-pointers and scored 13 points.

Up next: Pennridge will host Central Bucks West on Tuesday.

The Knights fell behind early and spent the rest of the game playing catchup. They never could get over the hump, falling to visiting Dallastown in a non-league contest Saturday.

Paityn Debro’s 17 points led the Knights. Mehya Godhania added eight points and Lily Brown had seven.
