SOL non-league crossover
WILLIAM TENNENT 51, PENNRIDGE 48
The Lady Rams served early notice that they were not going to make life easy for a Panther squad that brought a five-game winning streak into the contest. They battled the Panthers to an 18-18 tie after one quarter and took a 32-31 lead into halftime.
Pennridge still led 42-40 heading into the final quarter when – sparked by five points from Hannah Wong – they rallied for the come-from-behind win.
Key players: Avery Kocur’s 23-point effort led the Panthers and included 17 points in the first half. Halie Staub added 10 points, Megan Volz had nine, and Hannah Wong, seven points.
For the Lady Rams, Sam Murphy connected on four 3s and finished with 16 points. Julia Lenox also came up big with 12 points.
William Tennent coach Laura Whitney:
–The game: “Gutsy win tonight. Credit to Pennridge and Coach Rapp. His girls were well prepared and outplayed us for the majority of the game. We were already shorthanded, but we struggled to find our offensive rhythm the whole night. Even our defensive effort wasn’t great at times. Their girls made plays and shot the ball really well.
“It wasn’t a pretty game, but we’re happy to come out with the win. Our girls were a bit frustrated the whole game, but I’m really proud of the way they dug deep and found a way to win.
“I think tonight’s game was good for us. We haven’t played in a lot of close tight games lately and the fact that they were able to fight through the adversity and stick together and find a way to win speaks volumes about this group of girls.”
–Dramatic ending: “The game was tied, and we came up with a big defensive stop with about 15 seconds left. (Halie)Staub got the rebound and did a great job of pushing the ball and found Hannah (Wong) filling the lane ahead for the go-ahead layup.
“Pennridge called a timeout with 8.5 seconds left. We got a five-second call on the possession out of the timeout, which was huge. After that it was about being strong with the ball and knocking down free throws to seal the game.”
Pennridge coach Jason Rapp:
–The game: “I was really proud of the way our girls battled a really talented Tennent team tonight. It was a tie game with under a minute, and they made nice play on a missed shot for an easy layup, and we ran out of time.
“Looking forward to Friday night so we can build on the effort tonight.”
–Props: “Kudos to Jules Lenox who played her best game of the year. Megan Moylan hit some big 3s to keep us close, and Sam Murphy also hit four threes tonight. Maddie Lapp did a nice job running the offense and getting us organized
“Give credit to Avery Kocur who killed us in the first half and made a huge three in the fourth.”

the Redskins, who led 7-4 after one quarter, seized control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Ghosts 18-2 to go into halftime with a 25-6 advantage on their way to the win. Ashlyn Duffy’s eight points led a balanced Redskins attack in the half.
By the numbers: Nicole Trespalacios and Camryn Rodriguez led the Redskins with 11 points each. Trespalacios, who scored nine of her points after halftime, also had four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Ashlyn Duffy added eight points – all in the second quarter. She also had five rebounds. Hayley Kolk led the ‘Skins with six rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals.
For the Ghosts, Ryane Rogers had nine points, Aniyah Williams, eight points, and Nora Luskin, seven points.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher:
–Key players: “We were off to a sluggish start in the first quarter until Camryn Rodriguez checked in. Camryn immediately put her stamp on the game by knocking down a three-point shot and causing havoc for Abington on the defensive end. Cam was on top of her defensive assignments and the assignments of her teammates. Camryn consistently disrupted passing lanes and led us in deflections. Each of our coaches felt as though the game turned in our favor when Camryn entered the game. We outscored Abington in the second quarter 18-2 and Camryn was in the middle of that run.”
–Freshmen deliver: “It seems as though each game a different player raises their play to help put their stamp on the game. The fact that we have several players we can lean on game to game is a luxury. While someone different shines brighter each game, there has been one player who has been the most consistent over our 13 games, and that player is 
freshman Nicole Trespalacios. Tonight, Nicole was asked to defend Aniyah Williams, who has been a catalyst for the Abington team. Nicole, along with help from her teammates, did an excellent job on the defensive end. This is not the first significant defensive assignment the coaches have placed upon the freshman. Nicole is at the top of every statistical category on the team and leads us in offensive rebounds and total rebounds.
“Nicole is joined by another freshman, Brynn Klukososki, who has also played a huge role for our team. Brynn is one of our leaders in defensive rebounding and has the length to alter shots near the basket. Thrusting such significant minutes on such young athletes could be detrimental when you consider the role social media plays in this era of instant gratification. The Neshaminy program is fortunate to have these two players and others in the class of 2029 who are being made aware there is no way to skip the step of adversity and growth of being a high school player.”
–The game: “This was the second game in a row we held our opponent to six points in the first half, which included only one field goal in the first half of both games. In the second quarter we had some excellent ball movement against their zone and were also able to capitalize when Abington extended their defense in an effort to cause turnovers.”
–Props: “We were fortunate to have a large crowd tonight with many grade school and middle school athletes joining us for Youth Night.
“We appreciate the support of our young fans and were happy to have their added support tonight.”
Abington coach Allison Lawson:
–The game: “We came out flat and struggled to execute offensively in the first half, which is why we only scored six points. I was proud of how our team responded after halftime. We played with much better energy and focus, and it showed as we scored 27 points in the second half. That response says a lot about our resilience and growth.”

UPPER DUBLIN 50, PENNSBURY 37
The Cardinals, who led 14-8 after one quarter, put some distance between themselves and the Falcons with a 19-6 second quarter to go into halftime with a 33-14 lead. Tamia Clark’s nine points led the Cards in the second quarter, and her 14 points led the Cards in the first half.
Key players: Tamia Clark turned in another glittering performance, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot. Emilia Coleman had three 3s and contributed 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Megan Ngo had nine assists, five points and four steals.
For the Falcons, Sammie Haws led the way with nine points, and Shea Quenzer had eight.
Upper Dublin coach Morgan Funsten:
–The game: “Pennsbury likes to be very deliberate on offense, so we tried to speed them up with our pressure, and we were able to turn them over a decent amount in the first half. But I thought overall they handled our pressure really well. We shot the ball well, especially in the first half – we shot 12-for-18, so we shot 67 percent from the floor in the first half. We only had 18 shot attempts, but we shot the ball well.
“I thought they were more physical than us, and I thought they wanted the ball more than us, whether it was loose balls or whatever, so that’s not something that our girls were very happy about after the game.
That’s something we want to work on.
“In the third quarter, we went on a great run, and we got up by 27, and it looked like we were able to put them away, but a lot of credit to them – they just kept fighting, and we just went through the motions for a little bit in the second half.”
–Consistency a key: “One of our goals is to become a consistent team. I thought we played two really consistent games last week. Sometimes we look like the best team in the world, and then, for whatever reason, we can’t sustain it, but it’s certainly something our girls are going to try to work at, and it’s a lot of credit to Pennsbury. They played hard all night and certainly gave us some stuff that we need to work on as a team.
“We have a big one against CB East on Friday and then Audenried on Saturday. A good result for the week, certainly a game that we have some areas we need to address, and we’re excited about having a good practice tomorrow.”
–Props: “Tamia Clark was great again. She had 19 points, and she was 3-for-4 from 3-point range, so she continues to shoot the ball and score the ball in a variety of ways.
“Megan (Ngo) only took three shots, but she had nine assists, five deflections and four steals, and she was all over the place.
“Emelia Coleman had 15 points and six rebounds, so it was good to see her shoot the ball well again. We did a lot of good things.”
Pennsbury coach Frank Sciolla:
–Tip of the hat to UD: “Upper Dublin is such a fun team to watch. They move the ball really well, and they seem to generally enjoy playing together. They put five people on the floor at all times that can score and shoot. Tonight, they shot 6-for-7 from 3 in the first half, and that was a big piece. And they have good shooters, so it’s not a surprise. We were 2-for-14 from 3 in the first half. When the game was still in question, we had a difficult time making shots and they must be credited for that. Their size and length is a special challenge for us, but all things considered, it was a great night for us.”
–Props: “Playing without Joley (Hohman) and Emily (Panero) against a team that pressures non-stop is tough. Starting four sophomores against their experience is normally a recipe for disaster, but Bella Stewart gave us good minutes
“Alyssa Thomas was incredible. She was doubled the entire game and often was tripled. And that was the right move by them, but she handled it like a senior. Shea Quenzer continues to give us amazing minutes. She accepts hard coaching, and she gets better from it. She is going to be a really big piece for us down the stretch. Hopefully we get healthy fast because we have a big week ahead.”

The Owls led 14-9 after one quarter and added to that lead in the second to go into halftime with a 27-15 lead. Mischa Ellzy scored all 12 of her points in the opening half to lead the Owls.
The Hatters battled but could not make up the ground they lost.
Key players: Sydney Daut was a force at both ends of the court, leading the Owls with 13 points while also dominating the backboards with 12 rebounds. Mischa Ellzy added 12 points while Grace McShane had 11 points.
For the Hatters, Angelica Visceglia led the way with 15 points while Izzie Allen added 10.
Bensalem coach Steve Johnson:
–The game: “Credit to Hatboro Horsham who came out to play from the tap. They were aggressive defensively, and Izzie Allen is a monster down low. She made it very tough for us to score down low, but credit to our own big, Sydney Daut, who had a great performance herself, notching 13 points and 15 rebounds. I haven’t seen a rebounding effort like that in quite some time. We’re at the point in the season where we have to realize nothing is promised. We have to continue to value practice time and come to get better.”
Hatboro-Horsham associate head coach Nicole Miletto:
–The game: “We knew tonight was going to be a tough game for us. Bensalem is a great squad, and they have a lot of nice players that can hit shots from anywhere. We prepared as best we could and we were happy to get one of our starters, senior Madison Duggan, back after a couple of weeks. She is quick and really gives us boost on defense.
“Junior Ang Visceglia got us started hitting some big shots for us. After senior Izzie Allen went down in the first half, we looked like we were going to fold. The girls kept their heads up and just continued to fight. We made mistakes and missed shots, but they never gave up, and that is what we have been taking about all season to just go out and fight no matter the outcome – just give all you got. They did that tonight.
“Izzie came back in the second half and sparked us. Sophomore Sarah Gleason was solid as always on defense as well as junior Madison Siegfried. We even started to box out and rebound, an area where we struggle. Senior Mia Fisher and junior Cora Saxer hit the boards for us in the second half. Although it’s a loss we’ll take the progress.”

The Tropea twins were double trouble for the Lady Panthers.
The siblings combined for 43 points and 22 rebounds while leading their team to the win in Tuesday’s crossover game. Jules led all scorers with 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds while Gabby had a double-double of her own with 19 points and 12 rebounds. .
The Titans, who led 14-8 after one quarter, took a 30-17 lead into halftime and led the rest of the way.
Key players: Gabby Tropea led the Titans with 24 points while twin sister Gabby Tropea added 19. Rylie DiCesare contributed seven points.
For the Lady Panthers, three players finished in double figures. Maya Simmons led the way with 15 points while Isabella Brown and Paige Powell both had 11 points. Powell also had six rebounds.
Central Bucks South coach Beth Mattern:
–The game: “I was really happy with our team effort and play tonight. We came out to start the game strong with a 3 by Riley Campbell. Cheltenham is very athletic and talented, and we needed our best tonight to get the win. Jules and Gabby Tropea played really strong offensively while Anna Granito and Rylie DiCesare continue to play great basketball all around.”

The night belonged to Ava Culler, whose 34-point performance not only propelled the visiting Spartans to the hard-fought win but also vaulted the senior standout over the 1,000-point milestone. She is the first Springfield female to reach that elusive milestone since Molly Dugan did it in 2017. Culler entered Tuesday’s game needing 29 points.
Fans might have had an idea this game was going to be a wild one after a high octane first quarter that saw the Bucks – behind 10 points from Scarlett Baumgardner – outscore their visitors 24-23. Culler’s 16 points led the Spartans.
The Spartans outscored the Bucks 17-10 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 40-34 advantage. Culler had eight points in the quarter – 24 in the half while MK Garry accounted of eight points.
Springfield Twp took a 52-44 lead into the final quarter when the Bucks came roaring back, but the Spartans would not be denied.
Key players: Ava Culler’s 34-point performance stole the spotlight. Teammate Julia Guicheteau added 10 points, Garry had eight and Caitlin Lewis, seven points.
The Bucks were led by the 18-point effort of Audra Lawson, who buried four 3-pointers and was a catalyst in the Bucks’ comeback attempt with 10 fourth-quarter points. Scarlett Baumgardner added 15 points while Marleigh Mallon added 10 and Erinn McCusker had nine on three 3-pointers. All told, the Bucks had 10 3s in the game.
Springfield Twp coach Dave Giordano:
–The game: “We had a very dramatic and highly entertaining game tonight at CB West. We had a few plots within the actual game. One was a return game against West. They came to us early in the season, and we were lucky to start fast in that game, and it ended with a convincing win. This time we knew it would be different. They have been playing very well under coach Sydney Ott, and we were well aware that they were going to come with their ‘A’ game. A game side story is that Sydney had been my one of my assistants for the last few years, and she was hired this season at West. She is already making some positive changes to the program.
“The second subplot is that our center, Ava Culler, was within range of 1,000 career points. She needed 29 before the start of tonight’s game. I guess Ava and I were not on the same page of the possible timing of this, thinking that our next game at home would be her preferred date. I knew things were not going as planned when she decided to score 16 in the first quarter of the game, which turned into the strong three-point shooting of West and Ava putting the team on her back and deciding she wanted to get the thousand tonight.
“At halftime, she had 24, and the third part of the story was that I had no backup plan for her to get the thousand this evening. I have to thank the CB staff, athletic director, coaches and referees as I tried to coach a game and scramble around to see if we could give some kind of congratulatory moment for Ava. Mid-third quarter Ava was lucky enough to sink a foul shot and achieve her goal.
“Now my last issue was trying to keep the team focused enough that we could possibly win the game against West. And with some timely foul shooting and some good ball handling by Julia Guicheteau, Caitlin Lewis, Keira Brandon and MK Garry, we were lucky enough to get out of there with a win. Again, thanks to CB West coaches, game staff and athletic director for their help and cooperation in having us enjoy not only a good win but a nice celebration for our 1000-point scorer.”

The Indians raced out of the gate to a 24-0 lead after one quarter over the visiting Panthers. Lauren Smith led the charge, scoring all 14 of her points in the first quarter.
By halftime, the Indians had buried seven 3-pointers and had an insurmountable lead on their way to the win.
Key players: Lauren Smith’s 14 points – which included a pair of 3s – led the Indians. Ella Carroll also connected on a pair from beyond the arc and finished with 10 points. Brynn Rodgers and Alexa Bondra both had seven points.
Alexa Seneca’s six points led the Panthers.
Council Rock North coach Jack Kelly:
–The game: “After a couple of tough losses, tonight was a great team win vs. Quakertown. We were really proud of the start our girls got out to, and we did an especially good job of passing the ball in transition and making the extra pass in the halfcourt. We had good inside-out movement offensively. Defensively, I thought we did a nice job of guarding the ball. Overall, it was a strong team effort on both ends of the floor, and we’re proud of how the girls competed and played for one another.”

In a contest that featured more defense than offense, it was the Golden Hawks opening up a 13-7 lead after one quarter. That was followed by a second quarter that saw each team manage just two points.
In the third quarter, the Hawks – sparked by eight points from Emerson Gunther – seized control of the game with a 17-point quarter that gave Rock South a 32-19 lead on their way to the win.
Key players: Seniors Gillian Martin and Emerson Gunther led the Golden Hawks with 11 points each. Bella Hettler had a big game under the boards with 12 rebounds.
For PW, Kenna Winand had seven points, and Eliza Meersman had 10 rebounds.
Council Rock South coach Steve Polinsky:
–The game: “We were locked in defensively the whole game. The girls talked and helped each other with all the screens and back screens.
“Our senior leadership was excellent with Emerson Gunther, Gillian Martin and Bella Hettler leading the way in all facets of the game. Emerson and Gillian had 11 points each in the win, both of them hit some big 3s tonight.
“While Ruby Bross was held scoreless, she really handled PW’s pressure and had a great floor game.
“Bella Hettler and Anabelle Kushch had a solid game controlling the boards for us.
“Tonight was a total team effort after the second game of a back-to-back, plus playing against PW tonight was really tough.”
–Props: “Noelle Lamb, sophomore, had an excellent game and hit some big shots when PW was making a run. Proud of Noelle because she shows up and works really hard. The future is very bright for her.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Dan Dougherty:
–The game: “That gym just seems to be a house of horrors for us (not sure if we’ve ever won in that gym). Our team just couldn’t score tonight. Every missed shot just seemed to suck all our energy out. We were only down six at halftime, but it felt like 26. We have to move on quickly – we play a very good Souderton team Thursday night.”

Maddie Nenstiel was on fire in Souderton’s convincing crossover win over the visiting Lions. The freshman buried four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points. She began her offensive onslaught early, scoring five points in the first quarter and then torched the Lions for 10 points – with two 3s – in the second quarter.
Behind Nenstiel’s 15 first-half points, the Indians led 30-22. They put the game out of reach with a 19-9 third-quarter surge. Nenstiel had six points, and Kiera Fadden added five, and the Indians led 49-31 heading into the final quarter.
All told, the Indians buried 11 3-pointers with six players contributing from beyond the arc. Rae Wallace and Madison Bealer both had two 3s.
Key players: Maddie Nestiel stole the spotlight with 27 points. Kiera Fadden added nine points, and Madison Bealer had eight.
For the Lions, Mollie Martin led the way with 15 points – eight in the first half. Sydney Santora added nine.

While Brown lit up the net for 17 first-half points, Debro added 16 as the Knights opened up an insurmountable lead.

Maura Jacob stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals, leading the Trojans to the crossover win.
Katelyn Thomson added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Kai Potter had a team-high 15 rebounds.
“We didn’t get off to the start we wanted, but the girls stuck together and battled through to earn the win. Credit to the Harry S. Truman team, they pushed us the entire way and never quit,” said Wissahickon coach Kathie Sims.

Four East players had 13 points or more in Monday’s non-league crossover win. Natalie Berndt jumpstarted the Patriots with nine points on three 3s in the first quarter, propelling East to an 18-7 lead. At halftime, the Patriots led 38-21 on their way to the win. Jess Lockwood’s 11 points led the Patriots in the half, Haley Moran had 12 points, and Berndt added 11.
The Patriots once again shared the basket, assisting on 20 baskets.
Key players: Jess Lockwood led the Patriots with 19 points (two 3-pointers), seven rebounds, four steals and seven assists. Natalie Berndt added 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, and Haley Moran contributed 14 points (two 3-pointers). Payton Wiliams finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.
