SOL National Conference
WILLIAM TENNENT 38, BENSALEM 26
The Panthers earned a much-needed win, but it was anything but easy. They trailed by two at the end of one quarter but rallied to go on top 17-14 at halftime. They outscored the Owls 21-13 in the second half.
“This was our sixth game in 12 days with four of those games as back-to-backs, so fatigue definitely played a factor,” coach Laura Whitney said. “We had tired legs and weren’t able to get any lift on our shots, which resulted in shooting 7-for-21 from the line and going 1-for-7 from the three-point line.
“As a team, we only made three shots from outside the lane. Fortunately, we had good ball movement against their zone and made some great cuts off the ball for layups. It’s tough at this point in the season when girls are playing banged up, and we head into our third straight week of three games. It’s a grueling season, especially when every night it’s a tough game, but we have to grind it out and stay mentally tough.”
Haley Crossley led the Panthers with 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Brianna Broccardi had 12 points and six rebounds, and Emma Stanfield added seven points and five steals.
Alayna McSeed led the Owls with seven points, and Haley Keenan had six.
“They have played excellent defensive basketball three of the last four games they have played, the problem is scoring,” Bensalem coach Don Bogan. “They have managed to limit their turnovers against pressure, but the shooting percentage is below 40 percent from the field, and we’re shooting below 50 percent from the foul line.
“I have a great group of players who are coming to practice and are working hard each practice to correct the problems on offense. I am very proud of their hard work as a team. They attend practice every day with a positive attitude. It will just be a matter of time before we put everything together.”
After Saturday’s win, William Tennent was the 25th seed in the District One 6A power rankings.
William Tennent (8-7, 1-6 SOL) will host Harry S Truman in a non-league game on Tuesday, and Bensalem (3-10, 0-6) will travel to Neshaminy on Tuesday.

ABINGTON 83, DOVER 47
Rajah Fink is an All-American nominee, and in Saturday’s game against the Ghosts at Boyertown High School, the Dover senior lived up to her billing, scoring a game-high 29 points.
While Dover may have had the best player on Saturday, the Ghosts had a much better team. They didn’t rely on one person but instead received contributions up and down their lineup on their way to the no-doubt-about-it win.
“I think they are better than we made them look,” coach Dan Marsh said. “We played well today.”
Abington opened up 25-6 lead after one quarter and went on to outscore Dover in each of the four quarters.
Senior Sam Brusha led the Ghosts with 18 points – which included four 3-pointers – to go along with seven rebounds. Jordyn Allen added 14 points, seven assists and three steals. Kassondra Brown collected a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks. The trio did most of the damage for the Ghosts in the first quarter. Brown had eight points in the frame, Allen added seven and Brusha had six on a pair of threes.

WEST CHESTER EAST 48, WISSAHICKON 44
The Trojans trailed 23-15 at halftime of Saturday’s non-league game but used an 18-12 third-quarter burst to trim the gap.
“They’re a lot taller and long, and their speed is deceiving, so we really couldn’t go into our full court trapping defense,” coach Rodney Cline said. “They were up by eight points at the half. We couldn’t knock down shots, and they were knocking down everything. (Marissa) McDonald was hitting 24-foot threes. She hit four of them, and that was tough.
“We came out the second half, and we came back. We took the lead by two, so our fight was there. We came back and fought. It was back and forth and back and forth. The knocked down some key shots, and then we had to foul. They made their free throws and that was the game. It’s a game we needed to win, but the girls fought. It was a fun game to coach. The staff and I are really proud of our girls.”
Victoria Selverian (14 points) and Brianna Tilghman (10 points) led a balanced Trojan attack. Sydney Ott added seven points.
Wissahickon (6-7, 6-2 SOL) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday.

They edged their hosts by one in the fourth quarter but never could make up the ground they lost.
Burke led the Bucks – who are without Diane Nicholson (injury) – with 19 points, which included five 3-pointers. Izzy Treon added seven and Kaili Carey had six points on a pair of threes.
