NORTH PENN 58, WILLIAM TENNENT 52
The Knights celebrated Senior Night with a win that brought a welcome end to a 12-game skid. The win avenged a 39-24 loss to the Panthers in the initial meeting between the two teams.
“It was Senior Night, and I’m just happy for our seniors that we won and for our whole team,” coach Maggie deMarteleire said.
The Knights – who surpassed the 50-point mark for just the second time this season – opened up a 21-12 lead after one quarter but then scored just three points in the second period. As a result, Tennent took a 25-24 lead into halftime.
North Penn led 35-34 heading into the final quarter. Freshman Alli Lindsay delivered several big plays in the frame.
“William Tennent was up by four in the third quarter, and Alli Lindsay made a big steal and scored a bucket,” deMarteleire said. “Somehow she ended up with the ball again and hit Alayna Faison in transition with a beautiful pass and she scored. That kind of switched the momentum back to us again.
“Jenny Hulmes was hot – she had four threes tonight. We had eight threes as a team.”
Bri Hewlett led the Knights with 13 points while Hulmes and Lindsay both added 12 points.
Tennent’s Haley Crossley led all scorers with 28 points. Emma Stanfield added 10 and Brianna Broccardi had nine.
North Penn (5-12, 1-8, SOL) will host Episcopal Academy on Saturday in a non-league game at noon, and William Tennent (9-8, 1-7) will travel to New Hope-Solebury on Saturday for non-league contest at 4:30 p.m.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 43, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 31
Haley Meinel had herself quite a week for the Titans.
On Sunday, the senior standout scored 17 points and earned Player of the Game honors in South’s win over St. Basil Academy. Meinel scored 31 in the Titans’ big win over Pennridge Tuesday, and she capped the week with a 21-point effort to lead the Titans to an important win over the Bucks.
“She’s had a great week for herself,” coach Beth Mattern said. “This is her fourth year on varsity, she’s a senior, she’s going to college next year – I think she appreciates and recognizes the high school experience.
“We’ve been very successful since she’s been a part of the program, and now it’s her time to shine. She’s always been in someone’s shadow. She’s just worked so hard, and she’s a player who every year has gotten better, and she’s gotten better because she’s put the time in. Things are just flowing for her. She’s put herself in a good position to score some points for us.”
Meinel’s eight first-quarter points propelled the Titans to an early 14-10 lead. Maddie Burke all but matched that with seven points in the frame but scored just three the rest of the way.
Meinel added seven points in the second quarter and Mackenzie Ehresman had five, and the Titans took a 28-18 lead into halftime. They maintained that lead the rest of the way.
“Defense is always our number one priority, and tonight especially when you have a dynamic player like Maddie Burke, we just tried to limit her touches and keep her off the scoreboard as much as we could,” Mattern said. “I think tonight we played a pretty complete game.
“We got ourselves a lead, we maintained our lead, and we finished with that same lead. It would have been nice if we could have built it up a little bit more, but at the same time, I felt like we controlled the game. West plays really hard, so it was really physical. I thought my girls really battled hard, and I was proud of them.”
Also for the Titans, Ehresman contributed eight points while Alexa Brodie had seven.
With Thursday’s win and previously undefeated Spring-Ford’s loss to Perk Valley, South moved up to second in the latest District One 6A power rankings behind only Souderton.
“As we’re coming down the homestretch, it’s important to continue to play well and play as a team and also to get wins,” Mattern said. “When you’ve so hard in your season to get to a certain point, you just want to see your team continue to improve and finish games, and we did that tonight.”
Burke led the Bucks with 10 points while freshman Lilly Evans added eight.
Central Bucks South (16-2, 7-2 SOL) will host William Tennent on Tuesday, and Central Bucks West (10-8, 6-3) will host Central Bucks East on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Central Bucks West 10-8-10-3 31
Central Bucks South 14-14-10-5 43
Central Bucks West (31) – Abby Spratt 4, Maddie Burke 10, Kaili Carey 3, Izzy Treon 4, Lilly Evans 8, Jullia Kreider 2.

UPPER MORELAND 47, SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 36
The Golden Bears picked up their third win in as many outings, opening up a 14-11 lead after one quarter and extending that to 26-19 by halftime. Bean Hughes led the way with eight points.
It marked the beginning of a big night for Hughes, who collected an impressive double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds to go along with four steals, four blocks and three assists.
“Bean Hughes impacted the game in every way,” coach Matt Carroll said. “She’s an unbelievable athlete who’s really starting to figure out the game of basketball.”
UM outscored the Spartans 21-17 in the second half.
“Coming off a big win over Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday, we came out a little lethargic defensively tonight,” Carroll said. “We weren’t as active as we have been, and Springfield got into the bonus in both halves.
“Springfield has a couple of players who take the ball to the basket very well and put us on our heels defensively. Offensively, we wanted to look to get our points by getting the ball into the lane by either a post entry or dribble penetration.
“We’ve been settling for threes and floaters and we really wanted to put an emphasis on getting all the way to the basket. Our girls did a great job doing so.”
The Golden Bears took 40 shots from inside the arc and attempted just 12 threes. They also took 22 trips to the foul line.
“We had a lot of girls contribute tonight in a lot of ways,” Carroll said. “Phoebe Longstreth led the way with seven assists. Hannah Stainback hit two big threes off the bench to extend our second half lead.
“Abby Ellen Wood had seven rebounds off the bench.”
Longstreth and Hannah Stainback both finished with eight points. Cassidy Murphy had six – all in the first quarter.
For the Spartans, Rileigh Serroni had a big night, scoring a team-high 16 points, which included a 6-for-6 effort at the foul line. Grace Barraclough added eight points, and Mary Kate Smith had seven.
The Golden Bears and Spartans will do battle again on Tuesday night.
“We know we have to be better in order to beat them again,” Carroll said. “They will make adjustments, and we will have to as well.”
Upper Moreland (6-9, 3-6 SOL) will travel to Cheltenham on Friday, and Springfield 3-12, 1-8) will be on the road at Plymouth Whitemarsh Friday.
