SOL Liberty/Freedom crossover
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 50, QUAKERTOWN 30
In the absence of leading scorer AJ Avery, three of her teammates picked up the slack, turning in double-digit scoring efforts to lead the Colonials to the win. Kenna Winland led the way with 17 points, Taylor Williams added 15, and Joslyn Perez had 13.
“It was a good team win tonight without our leading scorer,” PW coach Dan Dougherty said. “Taylor Williams was the ‘next girl up.’ She stepped up and scored a career high 15 points to go with five rebounds.”
Kenna Winland led all scorers with 17 points to go with five steals and four rebounds, and Joslyn Perez added 13 points, four steals and four rebounds.
The trio had a big first half. Williams and Winland each had 11 while Perez had nine, propelling the Colonials to a 31-19 halftime lead on their way to the win.
“I’m very proud with the energy and intensity our girl’s played with tonight.” Quakertown coach Brittany Bamford said. “The scoreboard does not reflect the level of poise and defensive execution that we displayed tonight which is what we focused on in practice. Our press break execution was also key in getting our points in transition as opposed to setting up our offense.
“It is nice to have our full squad back together after playing the last couple of weeks down various key players.”
Ava Pistone’s 11 points led the Panthers while Addyson Davis and Truly Heft both had six points. Carli Maha had five points and six rebounds.
“Our girls had a very balanced scoring attack,” Bamford said. “Ava Pistone was able to get a few fast break layups after executing our press break against a very talented and disciplined PW team.
“Paisley Heft and Mackenzie Clayton also had great defensive games with getting up in pressure, closing out with a high hand and boxing out- all things that don’t show up in the box score.”

UPPER DUBLIN 70, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 45
The visiting Cardinals turned a 34-26 halftime lead into a double-digit win, outscoring the Lions 36-19 in the second half.
“We did not shoot the ball as well as we have been recently, but I thought we did a great job forcing turnovers while taking care of the ball ourselves at the same time,” UD coach Morgan Funsten said. “We created 24 turnovers and only had five turnovers.
“New Hope has some shooters, and they did a good job shooting with eight 3s.”
For the Cardinals, senior Amy Ngo scored 12 points and freshman Tamia Clark had 10 in the opening half. Izzy Elizondo kept the Lions within striking distance, scoring 15 first-half points.
A 20-point third quarter for UD was highlighted by nine points from Clark.
Amy Ngo’s 23 points – which included four 3-pointers – led the Flying Cardinals. She also had four assists and four steals. Clark added 19 points and nine rebounds while sophomore Megan Ngo had 11 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals.
“Tamia Clark came close to a double-double, and the variety at which she scores continues to expand,” Funsten said. “Amy has another hot night shooting and continues to have a great senior year. We played again with high energy all night and it was a solid win.”
For the Lions, Elizondo had another productive night, finishing with 20 points that included four 3-pointers. Emily Wilson added eight points while Sam McAndrew and Isha Murkleije added six each.
“It was close in the beginning of the game, but they just wear you down,” Lions’ coach Steve Polinsky said. “UD is a well-coached and very talented team. The Ngo sisters just play the game the right way They both shot really well and were a handful. It’s impressive how they play together.
“I thought we played really hard, and I was happy how we handled their pressure for the most part. Izzy Elizondo had her third 20-point-plus game in a row. She is just shooting the ball so well and really has stepped up her scoring this year.”

Non-league
SPRINGFIELD TWP 58, SACRED HEART 48
The Spartans used a big third quarter to take control of a close game, turning a 25-20 halftime lead into a 45-30 advantage heading into the final quarter on their way to the non-league road win.
“We played some really, really sound defense,” Springfield Twp coach Dave Giordano said. “The score may not indicate it, but after the third quarter, we made some adjustments, and we got some easy baskets and good looks.
“A lot of girls – it may not show up in the scoring, but defensively and hustle-wise, they really played well tonight.”
The Spartans, who led 11-9 after one quarter, took a 25-20 lead into halftime. Then came the 20-point third quarter. Jayla Daniels scored eight points in the frame and Alana Decker had seven.
“We came out at halftime – it was 25-20, and we made some changes in the third quarter,” Giordano said. “We had really good looks, and we created some easy baskets with some of our defense, and I think that broke it open.
“We still need to do a better job of taking care of the ball at times and in situations, but they’re playing really well. Their confidence is growing, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Decker’s 19 points – 14 in the second half – led the Spartans. Daniels and Ava Culler both had 16 points.
“The three of them play well with each other and look for each other on the floor,” Giordano said. “They know where they’re going to be when we run certain things. Even when we fast break, they have their lanes that they like to stay in. Jayla again was directing traffic offensively as far as getting down the floor. She looks for other people, and she did a good job of controlling the game.”
Springfield Twp (9-6, 4-5 SOL) will host New Hope-Solebury on Friday.
