Abington, Neshaminy, CB South and Hatboro-Horsham were winners in SOL girls’ basketball action Thursday.

Prior to Wednesday night’s SOL contest against Abington, the Council Rock South girls’ basketball team took time to pay tribute to former assistant coach Scott Mills, who passed away suddenly on July 2, 2017. An assistant with the girls’ basketball program the past two seasons, Mills – a teacher assistant at Holland Middle School – was planning to assume the position of head coach at HMS this year. He also coached field hockey and softball and tutored many students.
“He coached a lot of our girls in middle school prior to them coming up to the high school,” coach Blair Klumpp said. “I thought it was important to do it for Scott and for his parents just to let them know the impact he had not only on our program and the girls and families in our program but for the Council Rock community as a whole.
“A lot of the people he worked with at the middle school were in attendance the
night of the game and a lot of former players he coached in different sports. He really came in contact with a lot of kids and families in the district and really had a lasting impact on them. I just thought it was important to pay tribute to that.”
Mills’ mother and father were presented with memorial bracelets, and his mother was presented a bouquet of roses. His father was given a t-shirt with Mills’ initials on the side. Typed memories of Mills were also presented to his parents.
