Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ basketball teams in action Friday.

UPPER MORELAND 71, HARRY S TRUMAN 27
The Golden Bears received double-figure scoring efforts from three players in Friday’s opener, propelling UM to a win that was the 150th win of coach Josh Adelman’s career.
Mikel Lancit’s 24 points led all scorers and included a 6-for-8 effort from the foul line.
Key stretch: The Golden Bears seized early control, scoring 24 points in the first quarter. They outscored the Tigers 19-5 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 43-15 lead.
Players of the game: Mikel Lancit set the tone, scoring 20 of her game-high 24 points in the opening half. Lianna Adames and Marie Meyers also finished in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.
Upper Moreland coach Josh Adelman: “Mikel and Lianna played great games. They created problems with their abilities to drive to the basket and to hit the three-pointer. Marie Meyers also did a nice job scoring but also grabbing key rebounds. Our other starters Charlie and Hailey were solid defensively, winning the fifty-fifty balls on the ground and rebounded well.
“Ten different girls scored for us today. We really limited Truman to one shot and done. We played together as a team, looked for each other, and got out and ran the court very well.”
Up next: Upper Moreland (1-0) will host Central Bucks West in a non-league game Monday.

West Chester Henderson Tournament
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 46, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 35
CB South lost veteran floor general Yoyo Samayoa to graduation, and in her absence senior Ella Wheeler and junior Anna Granito split most of the ball handling duties in Friday’s season opener that saw the Titans accumulate 15 assists on 19 baskets.
“Everyone has to take a little more ownership of protecting the basketball and moving it up the court,” CB South coach Beth Mattern said. “The ball was in Ella and Anna’s hands a lot today.”
Jules Tropea posted a double-double that included 15 points and 11 assists.
Turning point: The Titans took a tenuous 18-16 lead into halftime and then blew the game open with a 17-5 third quarter tear. Six players contributed scoring in the quarter with Jules Tropea’s six points leading the way.
Players of the game: Jules Tropea’s double-double led the Titans and included 15 points and 11 assists. Ella Wheeler added nine points and Morgan McKeever had eight.
Central Bucks South coach Beth Mattern on the game: “This team is very selfless, and they’re always trying to make the next right pass. Today was just an example of them doing that and finding the open girl and being able to take advantage of that opening and opportunity. That was fun to see at the end how many assists as a team that we had.”
–On Jules Tropea’s big game: “Jules was just very active today. Of her 11 rebounds, I think four of them were offensive rebounds, and that’s huge when you can get those. She was dialed in and executed quite well today.”
Up Next: Central Bucks South (1-0) will face Bishop Shanahan in Saturday’s title game at 11 am.

Oreland Lions Tournament
SPRINGFIELD TWP 32, JENKINTOWN 31
Jenkintown scored the go-ahead basket with 20 seconds remaining, but six seconds later, Chloe Kaczor buried a shot that turned a 31-30 deficit into a 32-31 win.
Ava Culler owned the paint, scoring 17 points – 12 in the first half. She also had double-digit rebounds.
Players of the game: Junior Ava Culler led the Spartans with 17 points and 24 rebounds. Junior Chloe Kaczor had just five points but buried the game-winner with 15 seconds remaining
Springfield Twp coach Dave Giordano on the game: “Jenkintown led 9-4 after the first quarter. Neither team was shooting the ball very well – first game jitters and stuff, but the defenses were pretty solid. Then we woke up in the second quarter and started to put the ball in the basket.
“I knew that Jenktown has some pretty good athletes. I don’t think either team was prepared to run away from the other one. Basically, they made a run at the start of the third quarter. It was a two- or three-point game from midway through the third quarter right to the end.
“It was a pretty good basketball game from the defensive end from both teams, but I think Jamal (Elliott) would agree – I don’t think either team was happy with how they shot. We stuck with it and kept our composure – both teams did. It came down to the end. We eked one out that could have gone either way. I was happy with our performance.”
–The game-winner: “Jenkintown took a 31-30 lead with about 20 seconds left. We got the ball. We had a wide open jump shot by Chloe Kaczor (to go ahead 32-31). They called a timeout, and we played some pretty solid defense over the last 14 seconds or so, we got a couple of key rebounds and basically ran the clock out. Chloe played very well.”
–Props: “Ava Culler was all over the floor, and then they made some good adjustments, and they started to double team her, and a couple of the girls stepped up when we needed them to, making some good plays and dropping some baskets. Especially in the fourth quarter, we didn’t score a lot, and none of the points came from Ava, so I’m happy with how the team stepped up. It wasn’t an offensive juggernaut game, but it was a good team win.”
Up next: Springfield Twp (1-0) will face New Foundations Charter in Saturday’s title game at 5 p.m.

Conwell Egan Tipoff Tournament
LANSDALE CATHOLIC 45, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 23
The Crusaders limited the Golden Hawks to just five points in the first half, opening up a 24-5 halftime lead on their way to the non-league win.
Lil Metrick’s 10 points – which included a pair of 3s – led the Golden Hawks attack.
Council Rock South coach Steve Polinsky on the game: “I thought we played with a lot of energy and effort, but we did not shoot the ball very well tonight. We had a number of open shots early in the game, and they didn’t fall. I did like the looks we were getting, and we ran our sets well.
“I really liked our defense on Grace McDonough, and we did get her in foul trouble. LC scored 45 points, and I thought for the most part we were connected on defense. I love that we play tomorrow afternoon and get back on the court. We will do better as a team on Saturday.”
Up next: Council Rock South (0-1) will face Conwell Egan on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

CONWELL EGAN 29, PENNSBURY 27
The Falcons lost seven seniors to graduation, including 1,000-point scorer Sofia Vitucci. They suffered a major loss before the season began when promising sophomore Joley Hohman was lost for the season to a torn ACL.
The Falcons – with a new lineup – battled in Friday’s opener but saw a close game slip away in the fourth quarter.
Ava Jordan and Sammie Haws both scored eight points to lead the Falcons. Alyssa Thomas added seven points, which included a 4-for-6 effort at the foul line.
Turning point: The Falcons took a 25-23 lead into the fourth quarter but managed just two points – both from the foul line – in the final frame.
Pennsbury assistant coach Kaitlin Kelly on the game: “It was quite a first game of the season for us, coming down to the wire. It was great to get so many new faces on the floor tonight for the Falcons.
“Conwell Egan did a nice job executing tonight. They had a couple players who knocked down big shots for them tonight.
“For us, we need to be better at the free throw line and on the backboard. Hopefully, we learned from tonight and will work on getting better tomorrow.”
–A nice debut: “Freshman Alyssa Thomas did a great job handling the ball with four assists and one turnover in her first varsity game.”
