Non-league
NESHAMINY 43, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 24
Freshman Nicole Trespalacios is wasting little time before leaving her mark, following a strong performance in the Redskins’ season opener with a game-high 20 point-effort in Wednesday’s non-league win.
It was anyone’s game through three quarters.
The two teams battled to a 6-6 tie after one quarter. Neshaminy took a 15-12 lead into halftime, and they still led by just three points heading into the final quarter, 23-20.
Sparked by the nine-point effort of Trespalacios in the fourth quarter, the Redskins outscored their hosts 20-4 to notch their second win in as many days.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher:
–The game: “Our offense sputtered in the first half due largely in part to the efforts of CB South. Their effort along with our inability to finish around the rim and our indifference to running offense limited us to 15 first half points. The indifference started with my poor preparation of the players and created a disappointing mindset across the roster. We were able to use the halftime intermission to reset the team mindset and executed much better for the last eight minutes. Jule
s Tropea was a huge problem for our team throughout the contest. Jules already has a college body and Coach Pearson at Rowan is getting a ready to step in player along with her twin sister Gabby.”
–Key players: “Nicole Trespalacios and Mia Raivitch both played a complete game for us tonight. Mia led the Redskins with six assists and four steals despite some foul trouble throughout.
“Our most consistent player through the first eight quarters of the year has been freshman Nicole Trespalacios. Her ability to disrupt passing lanes, rebound the ball and maintain an even keel has impressed me. Nicole may have had the most success covering Jules Tropea as we rotated people taking turns to defend her.”
Up next: Neshaminy will travel to Council Rock North Friday, and Central Bucks South will host North Penn Friday.

Hatboro-Horsham associate head coach Nicole Miletto:
–On the game: “The score doesn’t show it. but Bristol played tough tonight. They were ready to play, and it took us a good half to get into our game. Snyder and Gonzalez were knocking down outside shots for them and their team played great defense. We were sloppy with the ball and made way too many turnovers in the first three quarters, but luckily, we were hitting some big shots.
“While it was a little sloppy for us, we had consistent scoring each quarter and some younger players were able to get some good minutes.
–Props: “Junior Ang Visceglia continues to be a workhouse for us and has been consistent each game. She had a game high 13 points for us. Junior Madison Siegfried, who had missed some time, came out tonight with some good energy and contributed right away. Senior Izzie Allen hit a big 3 for us in the first quarter and ended the game with five points. Freshman Mary Conaway got some good looks, and she took advantage and ended the night with 10. Everyone was able to contribute to our scoring tonight. We needed this win after a tough loss last night.
