ABINGTON 65, PENNSBURY 29
As league openers go, this was a very good one for Abington.
The Ghosts raced out of the gate to a 26-6 lead after one quarter and took a 46-10 lead into halftime on their way to the decisive win in the conference opener for both squads.
“We played very well,” coach Dan Marsh said. “The first half we were firing on all cylinders.
“I thought we passed the ball well, I thought we played good defense. We executed offensively very well. We got the shots we wanted, and I think that’s why we shot a pretty high percentage. It was a great team effort again. This team is working hard and not taking anyone for granted. They just wanted to come in and play hard and play well.”
Junior Sam Brusha led the Ghosts with 20 points, and Lizzie O’Leary added 12. Kassondra Brown added nine points while Jordyn Allen had eight.
For the Falcons, Sydney Buell led the way with nine points, and Mary Miller added six.
Abington (3-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Episcopal Academy on Monday in a non-league contest, and Pennsbury (1-2, 0-1) will be on the road at Conwell Egan on Monday.

The Redskins received scoring from 11 different players with four freshmen stepping up to make important contributions in the second half. Brooke Mullin led a balanced attack with nine –points – all in the first half, and Thyra Tuttle added eight, including a pair of treys.
Freshman Emily Tantala also had eight points – all in the second half. Freshman Olivia Scotti added two points, five rebounds and three steals. Kelly Kowalick added four points and four rebounds, and freshman Alex Ziegler also added four points.
The Redskins led 10-4 after one quarter and took a 26-5 lead into halftime.
Haley Keenan led the Owls with six points while Sydney Buwuah added five.
Neshaminy (1-2, 1-0 SOL) will be on the road at Abington for a key conference battle on Tuesday, and Bensalem (1-3, 0-1) will travel to Council Rock North on Tuesday.

SACRED HEART 43, UPPER MORELAND 38
The Golden Bears came up just short in Thursday’s non-league contest. They fell behind early, trailing 11-4 after one quarter, but they battled back to make it a 20-18 game at halftime. They benefitted from 14 trips to the foul line in the second quarter, connecting on eight of those shots. Noelle Woodman scored six points to lead the way in the frame.
In the third quarter, the Golden Bears edged their visitors 8-7 and trailed by just one heading into the final quarter (27-26) when Sacred Heart outscored the Bears 16-12 to hold on for the non-league win.
Brianna Hughes led the Bears with 11 points while Woodman and Phoebe Longstreth each added eight.
Upper Moreland (0-3) will host Hatboro-Horsham in the conference opener for both squads on Friday.
