Conwell-Egan Holiday Tournament
HARRY S TRUMAN 57, CONWELL-EGAN 46
Daisha Campbell was all but unstoppable for the Tigers in Saturday’s title game, willing her team to the tournament crown with a glittering 33-point effort that included a pair of three-pointers. She also had six assists and two steals and connected on 16-of-21 shots at the foul line.
“That was huge,” coach Collette Munford said.
Nai Nai Keys also came up big, posting a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers opened up an 18-10 lead after one quarter and took a 32-26 lead into halftime. They added to that lead in the third quarter and led 46-33 heading into the final frame.
“It was great,” Munford said. “We had a 15-point lead twice, but we let them get close – back to three or four points, but we pulled away to win by 11.”
“The girls played well. I said to them yesterday – ‘What better way to end our holiday season than winning Egan’s Christmas Tournament in their house against them.’”
Harry S Truman (3-6, 0-3 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West for a non-league game on Friday.

Title IX Classic
PENNSBURY 45, MONSIGNOR SCANLAN 33
After watching the Crusaders open up an 18-11 lead at the end of one quarter, the Falcons needed a lift. Makayla Bethea answered the call, burying three three-pointers off the bench to ignite a 14-4 second-quarter tear that sent Pennsbury into halftime with a 25-22 lead.
“Makayla Bethea gave us a big spark in the second quarter with nine points – she scored a career high 11,” coach Frank Sciolla said.
Sophomore Ava Sciolla also had a hand in the Falcons’ comeback, scoring 11 of her team-high 13 points in the first half. She also had 13 rebounds and four assists.
“Ava got out to a quick start and again did a great job setting up her teammates for open looks,” Sciolla said.
The Falcons limited the Crusaders to just 11 second-half points as they rolled to the win.
Also for the Falcons, Nicole Pompili added eight points, including a pair of three-pointers in a fourth quarter that saw the Falcons score 16 points. Mary Miller and Bella Arcuri both had four points in the quarter.
“Bella Arcuri and Nicole Pompili both made big shots down the stretch and also took charges in key spots,” Sciolla said. “Abbi Nassivera was very active and scored a big hoop to kill a Scanlan run.
“It was one of those games where every single girl was able to have a positive contribution, and we’ve been playing 10 girls, which I know is not usual but is certainly a good feeling.”

Robert Hopf Memorial Tournament
BENSALEM 55, SACRED HEART 54 (OT)
In a game with heroes galore, it was Chloe Munyon scoring the game-winning layup with five seconds remaining in overtime to give the Owls the dramatic win.
“We got the ball underneath our basket with 10 seconds left,” Bensalem coach Sheldon Per said. “Our girls executed an out-of-bounds play leading to Chloe scoring the game-winning layup.”
Down by four with a minute remaining in regulation, the Owls needed some late-game heroics to send the game into overtime. Munyon came up with a steal and layup to pull the Owls to within two.
“Delaney Bell went to the line down by two and hit two clutch free throws with eight seconds to go,” Per said. “It went into overtime and scored a handful back and forth.”
Bell’s clutch foul shots were her only points of the game, but they were big ones.
Haley Keenan fouled out in overtime but did plenty of damage while she was on the court. The senior – who was named to the all-tournament team – scored 27 points, which included five three-pointers.
Also for the Owls, Munyon and Pooja Singameni both added nine points.

Boyertown Holiday Tournament
PENNRIDGE 46, BOYERTOWN 37
Led by the 17-point effort of Evelyn Loughery, the Rams rebounded from Friday’s loss to Delone Catholic, the defending PIAA 3A champion, to defeat the host Bears.
“We needed this,” coach Mike Elton said of the win. “Delone Catholic was a tough game, but we hung in there and played them pretty decent. We needed something like that just to challenge us.
“Coming off a game like that where we played pretty well, it’s nice to get a win out of Boyertown. I can’t imagine when the last time Pennridge beat Boyertown in girls’ basketball.”
The two teams were deadlocked 11-11 after one quarter, and the Rams took a 24-21 lead into halftime. They limited the Bears to just eight points in the third quarter and took a 36-29 lead into the final frame.
“It was pretty tight through the first two quarters – we got up five, and at one point, they were up one or two,” Elton said. “Towards the end of the third quarter, Evelyn (Loughery) hit a couple of threes, and Sophie Cweiber hit a three, and that got us up seven.
“That stretched into the fourth quarter, and then we got a three from Emma Pyne and another three from Evelyn to stretch it out to 12. Then it was just a matter of hanging on to the end. It’s always tough being in somebody else’s gym.”
Included in Loughery’s 17-point effort were three three-pointers.
“She had six points in the second quarter, six in the third and five in the fourth, so she had a nice game,” Elton said.
The Rams’ coach lauded the defensive effort of several players.
“Ashley Gordon and Evelyn Loughery really locked down Ashley Kapp,” Elton said. “Ashley didn’t have a big scoring night, but she really did a great job.”
Also for the Rams, Sophie Cweiber and Julia Kreider both added nine points.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 52, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 43
The Patriots led 10-7 after one quarter and took a 20-12 lead into halftime. They outscored Ryan in all four quarters on their way to the consolation game win.
Both teams had 13 field goals, but the Patriots won it at the foul line, connecting on 24-of-30 shots.
“We really slowed the game down with four minutes to go because they were in foul trouble, so we got to the foul line and were able to convert,” East coach Liz Potash said.
Emily Barry and Mia Salvatti shared scoring honors for East with 12 points each. Salvatti – who had eight first-half points – buried a pair of threes. Barry was 10-of-14 at the foul line. Devon Burns added 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Sydney Ives led the Patriots under the backboards with eight rebounds to go along with two steals.
“Sydney Ives did a nice job off the bench, and Devon Burns had an all-around solid game,” said Potash, whose team was once again without Emily Chmiel. “For the second night in a row, Emily Barry did a great job defending the opposing team’s point guards, the top scorers for both teams.
“It was a great team effort. We got contributions from many players.”

Lancaster Catholic Holiday Tournament
LANCASTER CATHOLIC 64, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 62 (OT)
Senior Maddie Burke and sophomore Emily Spratt combined to score 47 points, turning in the kind of dazzling offensive efforts that on most nights will result in a win for the Bucks.
This was not most nights.
The Crusaders fought off every West charge, rallying from a 51-45 deficit with 4:33 remaining to knot the score 55-55 at the end of regulation. They outscored the Bucks 9-7 in OT.
“It was a tough loss to a really athletic and tough Lancaster Catholic team,” West coach Zach Sibel said. “We handled adversity and gave ourselves a chance to win it.
“Emily Spratt really stepped up offensively and Maddie Burke really got us going, playing her best game yet this season. There’s a lot of leadership on this team, and this loss will only make us better.”
The Bucks – behind 11 points from Burke, including three three-pointers – led 21-13 after one quarter. The Crusaders answered with a 19-11 second quarter to knot the score 32-32 at the intermission.
“A Lancaster Catholic buzzer beater from half court tied the game at the half,” Sibel said. “I told the girls at halftime – a calm sea never made for a skilled sailor.
“We wanted this game because we knew the talent we were going to face.”
The Crusaders led 40-36 with under four minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the Bucks rallied to take a 42-41 lead into the final frame.
Burke led all scorers with 28 points, which included six three-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the foul line. Spratt added 19 points, which included one three and a 6-for-6 showing at the charity stripe. Jess Broskey also finished in double figures with 11.
“Jess Broskey stepped up and had a double-double tonight,” Sibel said. “Across the board, our team has really stepped up, and it’s different girls every night.
“It makes it a fun team to coach. We will learn and get better. Our goals still stay the same.”
Sommer Reeser, who buried four threes, and Bryanna Hicks, who had two treys, both scored 18 points to lead the Crusaders.
