The Indians, who trailed 6-3 after one quarter, trailed 16-10 a halftime and then saw that deficit grow in the second half.
Ella Carroll’s 14 points led the Golden Hawks.

SOUDERTON 43, WISSAHICKON 35
Their goal was to defend a tournament title they owned, and while they did capture the tournament crown, it was anything but easy.
The Indians opened up a 14-4 lead after one quarter and still led 27-18 at halftime. Kiera Fadden’s eight points led the Indians in the half while the Trojans were led by Katelyn Thompson’s eight points.
Behind the hot hand of Thompson, the Trojans outscored the Indians 11-2 in the third quarter, and the two teams went into the final quarter deadlocked, 29-29. Thompson accounted for all 11 of her team’s points in the quarter.
The Indians answered with a 14-6 third quarter to earn the win. Maddie Nenstiel and Olivia Herron both had a clutch three in the quarter while Fadden had four points.
Key players: Kiera Fadden, whose 12 points led a balanced attack, was named tournament MVP while teammate Olivia Herron also earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Herron contributed nine points on three 3-pointers.
For the Trojans, Katelyn Thompson led the way with 23 points while Kia Potter had eight.
Souderton coach Eric Houston:
–The game: “We had a little mental lapse and put ourselves in a dogfight in the fourth quarter, but we figured it out – hit some shots, played some good defense and pulled it out at the end.
“The game of basketball is definitely a marathon. You can’t get all panicky when teams make runs on you. You just have to continue to weather the storm and play through it, so we figured it out.
“We were up the entire game, and they tied it up going into the fourth quarter. We were just chucking up shots that we usually don’t shoot. I’m looking at them and I’m like – ‘What are y’all doing? Why do you think one shot will give us a 25-point lead?’
“You give a team like that a little bit of confidence and they figure things out – you put yourself in a situation where you’ve got to take the momentum back from them. It’s a good thing we figured it out because I think the last couple of games we played were games where we were beating teams by a good margin, so they thought they were going to come out today and do the same thing. It doesn’t work that way every game, so we’ve got to go out there and compete, so we did. We got it done. That’s all I can say.”
Fadden is ‘blue collar’ player: “She’s like our Draymond Green of the basketball team. She just does everything. She hustles, she rebounds the ball. If we get her in double-figures in points, that’s a great thing, but she does so many things that aren’t on the stat sheet, and that’s so helpful. Every little thing we ask her to do – she does it. She anchors everything defensively, she communicates. She’s a sound player for us. She’s definitely going to be somebody that we’re going to rely on as the season starts to stretch on and we start going into the conference and things like that.”

Upper Merion Holiday Tournament
WILLIAM TENNENT 55, UPPER MERION 29
The Panthers raced out of the gate to a 24-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back on the way to their third straight tournament title. Leading the first quarter charge was Avery Kocur, who scored 12 of her team’s points. Megan Volz added six points in the frame.
Tennent led 32-9 at the half.
The two teams combined for 44 foul shots. The Panthers converted 11 of 19 while the Vikings were just 11-for-25.
Key players: Avery Kocur (20 points) and Halie Staub (16 points) accounted for 36 of the Panthers’ points. Included in Kocur’s 20 points was a 7-for-8 effort at the foul line. Staub scored 11 of her points in the second half. Megan Volz added eight.
William Tennent coach Laura Whitney:
–The game: “It wasn’t always pretty, but a win is a win, and we’re proud to complete the three-peat at the Upper Merion Holiday Tournament. We got off to a fast start and were able to take advantage of Upper Merion being without their best player. I thought we did a great job applying pressure early, which helped us generate some easy offense. We also had some strong offensive stretches where we shared the ball well and made the extra pass for quality looks. Overall, our defensive effort was excellent, and I loved the toughness we showed. As we head into the second half of the season, we need to clean a few things up to make sure we’re playing our best basketball down the stretch.”

The Ghosts served early notice that they meant business, putting 30 points on the board in the opening quarter to take a lead they would not lose. Aniyah Williams led the charge, scoring nine points in a quarter that saw six Abington layers contribute points.
Abington took a. 40-24 lead into halftime on the way to their second win in as many days in the Audenried Tournament.
Key players: Aniyah Williams had another big day, leading all scorers with 22 points, which included 15 in the first half. Shya Crafton had a huge day under the backboards with 11 rebounds to go along with eight points and seven assists. Caleigh Fitzgerald added nine points (3 3-pointers) and seven rebounds. Asaliya Ortz also had nine points on three 3s.
Abington coach Allison Lawson:
–The game: “It was a great team effort and great way to close out the year with a win. All seven players put points up.
“Shya (Crafton) had a great rebounding day with 11 rebounds, eight points and seven assists. Caleigh (Fitzgerald) had nine points and seven rebounds.”
–New faces: “Having a lot of new faces can benefit our team because it brings fresh energy, new skill sets, and different perspectives. It also creates healthy competition, which pushes everyone to work harder and improve.”

QUAKERTOWN 56, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY 47
The Panthers had reason to celebrate.
Quakertown ended 2025 with a win over Dock Mennonite Academy in a competitive matchup marked by balanced scoring and strong defensive stretches on both sides.
Quakertown set the tone early, using steady offensive execution to build a 17–15 lead after the first quarter. The momentum continued into the second quarter, where Quakertown outscored Dock 12–10, taking a 29–25 advantage into halftime.
Dock came out strong after the break, pushing the pace and winning the third quarter 16–13, cutting into its deficit and keeping the game within reach heading into the final period. However, Quakertown responded defensively in the fourth quarter, limiting Dock to just 6 points while adding 14 of their own to seal the win.
Key players: Alexa Seneca had herself a day, leading all scorers with 26 points. Alexa Reich also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Quakertown coach Dan Cymerman:
–The game: “We discussed before the game the importance of continuing to play aggressive defense and finding quality shots on offense. Today, we were able to put it all together. The girls found their rhythm today. This was the definition of a team win. We had some players get into foul trouble early, and we had to go to our bench. Those girls did a great job when their number was called. It’s great to end 2025 with a win, but we know there is still a lot of work to be done in 2026.”
–Props: “Alexa Seneca played her best game of the season, having 26 points in the game. She continues to practice hard and watch film. Her hard work is paying off.
“Freshman Alexa Reich played really well in the tournament defensively. She made some key baskets for us in this game, finishing with 10 points. She has worked hard on her offensive game, and it came together today. We will take this momentum into our game on Saturday against Daniel Boone.”

Things looked promising when the Golden Hawks – sparked by four 3-pointers – put 18 points on the board in the opening quarter and led by three.
Chester came back to even the score by halftime, 26-26, and after scoring 26 in the first half, the Hawks managed just 15 in the second half while Chester scored 22 to earn the win in Tuesday’s title game.
Gillian Martin had the hot hand from beyond the arc, burying five-three pointers and scoring a team-high 19. Emerson Gunther added 13 points, which included three 3-pointers.
Council Rock South coach Steve Polinsky:
–The game: “It was a really well-played game tonight. We played really well, and hats off to Chester for winning the tournament. They play hard and are well coached.
“I liked how we responded to their pressure and physicality. Rudy Bross, Emerson Gunther and Gillian Martin did a nice job handling the basketball against their press. Bella Hettler played great defense the whole games and had over ten rebounds.”
Props: “Gillian Martin scored 19 points tonight for us. That was Gillian’s career high. She had a fantastic game. Emerson Gunther added 13 points tonight.”

The Knights, who led 11-4 after one quarter, blew Tuesday’s game wide open with a 21-point second quarter to go into halftime with a commanding 32-13 lead. They never looked back.
In the first half, the Knights were sparked by nine points on three 3-pointers from Saniah Hammond, eight points from Lily Brown and seven from Paityn Debro.
Key players: Saniah Hammond led a balanced attack with 14 points, which included four 3s. Lily Brown added 12 points, and Paityn Debro had 10.
