HATBORO-HORSHAM 50, BRISTOL 14
The Hatters – behind seven points from Leah Harrington – took a 9-1 lead over the visiting Warriors after one quarter. They erupted for 26 points in the second quarter to blow their home opener wide open.
“We started off a little slow in the first quarter but had a much better second and third,” HH assistant Nicole Miletto said. “Big offensive performances from seniors Alli Hewish and Leah Harrington helped spark our offense.
“Senior guard Caroline Shegogue was back at point for us, and that gave us more balance and control. Bristol has a young team, but they played hard until the end. Coach (Eric) Glemser said he’s been on both sides of this kind of game before and knows how rough it can be, but Bristol didn’t make it easy – they hung in there until the final buzzer.”
Harrington’s 15 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers, led the Hatters. She scored all of her points in the first half. Alli Hewish added 11 points while Caroline Shegogue had eight. Kitty Randa and Madalyn Patel each contributed six points.”
“It was nice to open up with a win, but we have plenty to work on,” Miletto said. “We struggled at the line tonight and missed some easy shots. We’ll be back at it against Wissahickon on Friday.”
The Hatters connected on just 7 of 21 from the foul line.
Hatboro-Horsham (2-1) will travel to Wissahickon for Friday’s SOL opener.
