SOL Patriot Division
PENNSBURY 32, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 22
Points did not come easily for either side in Tuesday’s SOL finale.
The Golden Hawks led 9-6 after one quarter, but the Falcons – sparked by seven points from Sammie Haws – held their hosts to just four points in the second quarter and took a 17-13 lead into halftime.
It was still a four-point game heading into the final quarter when the Falcons held the Hawks scoreless to earn the win.
Key players: Pennsbury’s Sammie Haws led all scorers with 16 points while Alyssa Thomas added nine.
Carly Conetta’s eight points led the Hawks.
Pennsbury coach Frank Sciolla:
–The game: “Tonight was not a game but would be put in a time capsule when it comes to shooting as both teams really struggled shooting the ball. Guarding South means guarding the perimeter and locating (Emerson) Gunther. She releases it so quickly and efficiently that to give her any space is criminal. Her feet get set, her elbow lines up and her follow thru is in line with her shoulder. If it wasn’t so terrifying, I’d enjoy it. We lost her twice tonight, and she made us pay both times. Otherwise. we were very solid overall chasing them on the perimeter
“The game can be funny sometimes. It confuses people who think it’s all about scoring or who get upset about how they play based on whether or not they’re making shots. But the real people who know don’t get confused, and they realize there’s so many parts of the game, and tonight while we didn’t shoot the ball well, we were able to do enough and get to the foul line and seal the game.
“It’s a team game and a team win, and we are happy to get on the road against another playoff team. There’s nothing more impressive to me than seeing young people celebrating each other on the sideline and in the locker room and on the bus as a collective. We’ve played the champions of the three other SOL divisions this year, and that’s made for a cool experience.”
–Props: “Grace Schaufler gave us a nice bump off the bench. Sammie added five rebounds and Joley/ Alyssa/ Milan were strong defensively and in keeping our offense moving.”
Up next: Pennsbury will return to action Friday in the SOL Tournament while Council Rock South – on the bubble in the District 1 6A Tournament – awaits its final ranking.

NESHAMINY 47, BENSALEM 33
The Redskins celebrated their lone senior – Camryn Rodriguez – with a big win over the visiting Owls. They opened up a 40-15 lead before the Owls staged a late rally.
The win avenged a mid-season one-point loss to the Owls.
By the numbers: Hayley Kolk’s 14 points – which included four 3s – led a balanced Redskin attack while Brynn Klukososki added 11 points. Nicole Trespalacios had eight points. Grace Weyler had a team-high nine rebounds to go along with four assists. Mia Raivitch had five points, five assists and four rebounds.
Grace McShane’s 12 points led the Owls.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher:
–Highlighting players: “There were several players who deserve to be highlighted.
“Brynn Klukososki came off the bench and ignited us in the third quarter. In our previous game with Bensalem, I thought she had some really good opportunities on the offensive end of the floor that didn’t show up in the scorebook. I even told her before the game I thought this would be her game.
“Grace Weyler had five assists and several big ones in the third quarter, finding Hayley Kolk for open three-point baskets. Grace finished with nine rebounds including five offensive rebounds. When you can get rebounding like that from the guard spot it typically helps result in a victory.
“Hayley Kolk led us with 14 points while netting four three-point baskets. I don’t have the official number of FG attempts taken, but Hayley accomplished this while shooting a high percentage from the field.
“Mia Raivitch had five points to go along with five assists. I tell our players when Mia has the ball in her hands you better be cutting hard and have your head on a swivel. Mia’s ability to see the floor and good scoring opportunities based upon her teammate’s skill set is at a high level. Her eyes tell her teammates to cut and be ready.
“Nicole Trespalacios was a force for us at both ends of the floor. I found myself watching the matchup with her and Grace McShane more so than watching the entire floor. I just followed them with my eyes when Bensalem had the ball, it was a great battle to watch. I could not have been more impressed with Nicole and her efforts against Grace.
Grace plays with a sense of calmness about herself that I really admire. Tonight, Nicole reached even a higher level in my eyes with her performance this evening while adding eight points and several deflections.
“Senior Camryn Rodriguez celebrated her senior night by scoring seven points and blocking four shots. Camryn got the start tonight when Ashlyn and Hayley pulled me aside to insist Cam get the start this evening. This speaks volumes for those girls and their respect for Camryn.
“Entering the fourth quarter we scored a basket to put us up 40-15 and then tried to coast to victory. To Bensalem’s credit they, were not going to allow us to coast. Camryn settled us down by scoring five points in the fourth quarter to seal this important victory.”
Up next: Neshaminy will host Villa Maria Academy in a non-league game Wednesday, and Bensalem – 16th in the latest District 1 6A rankings – will return to action in the SOL Tournament, barring any changes.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 55, HARRY S TRUMAN 25
The Indians – sparked by seven points from Ella Carroll – opened up a 17-1 lead after one quarter, and they never looked back on their way to the decisive win in their season finale.
Key players: Julia Koval and Alexa Bondra led the Indians with 12 points each while Ella Carroll added 11 and Lauren Smith, eight points.
For the Tigers, Brie Philemond’s seven points led the way.
Council Rock North coach Jack Kelly:
–The game: “Tonight was an emotional game for our team. It was our final game of the season, and we wanted to finish strong on our home floor. We are really happy to get our seniors a win in their final game. Julia Koval came out and had a stellar performance at both ends of the floor in the final game of her career. She has been a three-year starter for us, she has had a profound impact on the team, and it was great to see her end her career with a great game. We are also happy for senior Laney Duchnowski who gave us great minutes off the bench and finished with four points and one block.
“Overall, we just did a really good job of getting good ball movement offensively, limiting dribble penetration defensively, and rebounding the basketball. Alexa Bondra played a really efficient game, Brynn Rodgers and Lauren Smith helped facilitate really good ball movement, Haley Cruz had one of her best games of the season, and Ella Carroll and Tori Smith have both become catalysts for our defense. We are sad to see our season come to an end. Our seniors have really brought this team together, and we are proud of the improvement we showed and how we stuck together through the ups and downs of the season.”

It was raining 3s when Pennridge travelled to CB West Tuesday.
The Rams – sparked by five 3-pointers from Megan Moylan – buried 12 shots from beyond the arc while the Bucks had eight 3-pointers.
In a preview of things to come, the Lady Rams sank four 3-pointers in the opening quarter and led 14-10. They took a 26-18 lead into halftime (connecting on seven 3s in the first half)) and then put some distance between themselves and the Bucks with a 20-point third quarter – which included four 3s – to go into the final frame with a 46-30 advantage on their way to the win.

Pennridge assistant coach Mike Decaro:
–The game: “The third quarter was the turning point in this one as the Rams scored 20 points to take a 46-30 lead after three.
“This win was a true credit to the character of the Lady Rams. At the end of a tough season, the girls played incredibly hard, supported one another and were able to reap the rewards of that effort. As a staff, we couldn’t be prouder of the type of kids they are and the consistent effort we got all season.”
–-Props: “Megan Moylan and Sam Murphy combined for eight three pointers to help open up the court and Madison Lapp was terrific in the second half scoring 13 of her 22 going to the basket often while running the show for the Lady Rams.
“It is always difficult playing at another team’s senior night, and tonight was no different. Coach Ott and the Bucks were celebrating a number of seniors who have been terrific for them, particularly Scarlett Baumgardner who had been a difficult player to guard for us for years.
“However, all of the girls really committed to playing team defense tonight, helping each other to limit their best players. This was as connected of a team defensive effort as we have had this season. All six girls worked to limit easy baskets and went after the rebounds with max effort.”

“Maya, Paige, and Izzy controlled the game on the offensive and defensive ends. They put constant pressure on Springfield’s guards, including forcing seven turnovers in a third quarter run that opened up a 12-point margin.
“When the 3s weren’t falling in the first half, Maya, Izzy, and Paige constantly attacked the middle, hitting pull ups and floaters in the lane.
“Maya and Paige have been so steady all season, hitting clutch shots and defending the other team’s best offensive weapons. Maya defended Ava Culler all night, and while Culler had an incredible game, Maya’s physical defense wore her down, and Maya held her to only four points in the second half.”

LOWER MORELAND 47, UPPER MORELAND 38
The Lions, who led 11-9 after one quarter, found themselves locked in a 19-19 halftime tie. Lower Moreland led by one heading into the final quarter when they outscored the Lions 15-7 to earn the win. The Lions connected on 8 of 10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Upper Moreland was led by the 12-point effort of Hailey Kramer while Hailey Milks added nine points.
Lower Moreland coach Andy Krasna:
“Josh Adelman and his coaching staff have done a tremendous job with his young varsity team. In both games with Upper Moreland, I feel very fortunate to be able to exit the gym with a win.
“Tonight, our three 12th graders shined brightly on senior recognition night. I’ve known our seniors for only 14 weeks and have come to admire their character in such a short period. All three prioritize our team’s success first.’
–Props: “Tonight was a significant win for our team as we hope to lock up a spot to extend our season into the district tournament. Sofia Fey, Mady Rossiter, and Haylee Huber were electric tonight. Sofia knocked down some big shots for us, scoring nine points and helped us to spread the floor as Upper Moreland could not leave her open on the wings. Her composure has been evident all season. What I love most is Sofia’s huge smile when she competes.
“Mady Rossiter, our senior captain, is loved by her teammates. She has invested time in getting to know every player on our JV team and varsity teams, building bonds and helping to make sure no player feels isolated. Tonight, she had to defend and box out Hailey Milks and came up with some big boards in key moments.
“The one senior player who redefined her role in my short time as the head coach is Haylee Huber. Haylee is a high energy teammate that has transformed herself into a positive leader. She is using her energy as an example, showing our younger players how to be vocal and how to communicate. Haylee was huge for us tonight, scoring six points and hitting a big 3 early which got the crowd fired up.
“We received some nice contributions from our entire roster. Emma Dijoseph came in off the bench tonight for the first time this season and was a spark plug nailing some big 3-point shots when we really needed a lift.”
–Coach Becker in the house: “It was also great to see former varsity Coach Rich Becker at the game supporting our three seniors who he coached for most of their careers. Coach Becker is one of the most respected coaches I have crossed paths with, and Lower Moreland is very fortunate to have had him at the helm for 20 years.”
Up next: Lower Moreland will travel to Villa Joseph Marie for a non-league game Thursday, and Upper Moreland will travel to the Academy of the New Church for a non-league game Friday.
