Non-league
QUAKERTOWN 53, PENN ARGYL 44
Sparked by the 17-point effort of freshman Carolyn Sipprell, the visiting Panthers notched a hard fought non-league win, and as endings go, it was a good one for the Panthers.
“It was a great team effort by all,” coach Brittany Bamford said. “The girls adjusted after timeouts and played with an aggressive mindset.”
The Panthers led 9-2 after one quarter and took a 24-18 lead into halftime. Sipprell accounted for 14 of those points. They added to that lead in the third quarter and took a 38-29 advantage into the final quarter.
Sipprell connected on 3-of-4 from 3-point land and was a perfect 2-for-2 at the foul line. She also led the Panthers on the backboards, finishing with nine rebounds. Abigail Dickson added nine points – all in the fourth quarter, and Katie Catalano had seven. Kennedi Pellegrini chipped in with six points and also led the defense with six steals.
I’m especially happy for Abbie Dickson – she had a great game tonight with eight blocks,” Bamford said. “Carolyn Sipprell and Katie Catalano are developing each other’s game, and it wasn’t just these two freshmen. All the ladies proved themselves tonight. This was a perfect game to end on for us.”
Quakertown closed out its season with a 5-17 record.
