The Trojans suffered their first loss of the season in Thursday’s District One 3A second round game. They trailed by just two at halftime (6-4), but things went downhill in a hurry in the second half.
“Two players fouled out for Wissahickon,” coach Jamie Kane said. “One fouled out with over 23 minutes left in the game, leaving us down a player, so Great Valley basically had a power play the entire second half.
“That being said, their team was fast, and their goalie was unreal and saved more shots than we scored.”
Emma Baker scored three goals and also had one caused turnover, one ground ball and three draw controls. Sophia Chiodo Ortiz scored one goal and had a caused turnover. Abby DeGroat had one goal, two ground balls and seven draw controls. Lexi Hobson had one goal, one assist, three caused turnovers and one ground ball. Alena Doll had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Haley Reed had one caused turnover and two ground balls. Chloe Acuna had one ground ball.
Goalie Madeline Murphy had nine saves and two ground balls.
Wissahickon – winners of the SOL American Conference title – closed out its season with a 17-1 record (11-0 SOL).

Maggie Golder and Sarah Walcott provided most of the Falcons’ firepower with four goals each. Golder also had one assist, three draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Darrien Furiness added a goal and three assists, four draw controls and one ground ball. The Ghosts saw their eight-game winning streak as well as their season end at the hands of a talented Jaguar squad.
