PENNRIDGE 6, SPRING-FORD 5
It was a sunny and competitive day for the Pennridge Rams versus Spring-Ford Rams. The Pennridge Rams improved their record to 2-0 after securing a win in a very tight battle.
First on the board for the Rams was Madigan Posey off an 8m. Meg Moylan was next for Pennridge with a drive taking the score to 2-2 after the first. Posey notched her second early in the second quarter followed by Colbie Landherr’s first and only of the day off a feed from Kayla Verespy. Defender Julia Lenox- in an incredible individual effort -went coast to coast to bring Pennridge up 5-3 at halftime.
Madigan Posey completed her hat trick with the lone goal for the Rams in the third. With Spring-Ford able to notch two, we went into the 4th quarter 6-5 in favor of the Pennridge rams.
Madigan Posey with an incredible showing today scored her fourth and final goal early in the fourth quarter. Emma Gall put the nail in the coffin for the Rams with the assist credited to Posey. It became a game of patience as we went the remainder of the game scoreless to insure a secured Win.
Pennridge coach Maddie Dachowski:
“Today was a hard-fought battle and Spring-Ford showed us a strong game. A win is a win, but there is a lot of learning that can come from today. I look forward to limiting turnovers and focusing on developing our decision making throughout close games. I’m always proud of this group and they pulled it out today.”
–Props: “We had a great showing today specifically from the Posey sisters. While Madigan fills our offensive stats, her younger sister Harper is all over for the defense and midfield unit. Harper had five caused turnovers and three ground balls which came at big moments throughout the game. Other standouts were Julia Lenox on our D unit (3GB, 2CTOs, 1G) and Megan Moylan on the draw (7DC, 1G). She adjusted well mid game and came up with big second half possessions.
Up next: Pennridge will travel to North Penn for Monday’s SOL opener (7pm).
