PENNSBURY 20, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2
The Falcons opened their SOL season on a high note, ignoring the rain for the decisive win.
Olivia Graebner stole the spotlight on attack and had a hand in nine goals, scoring five goals and assisting on four. Also turning in a big day was Grace Holmes with four goals and two assists.
“We came out strong in our first league game, and while we came out on top, we still have things to work on,” Pennsbury coach Marguerite Piccolo said. “I was happy to see us finally play well together and connect both offensively and defensively throughout the whole game.
“Grace (Holmes), Mia (Popowich) and Liv (Graebner) won control of the draws which allowed us to keep the momentum going offensively. Kema Brown had some nice saves, and our defense did an excellent job at taking away opportunities from Council Rock North.”
The Falcons – who raced out of the gate to a 7-1 halftime lead – received a hat trick from Sasha Dobos while Mia Popowich had two goals and one assist. Adding two goals each were Lily Abraham and Rylie Borgman. Angelina Kenney and Jordan Ewart each contributed one goal for the Falcons.
