Maggie Golder, Darrien Furiness and Maddy Spratt stuffed the stat sheet in Monday’s win. The trio combined for 11 goals and six assists, but that was just the beginning. They also combined for 13 draw controls, giving the Falcons the all-important advantage in possessions, and they capitalized.
“If you don’t come up with the draw, you can’t score goals,” Golder said. “That’s definitely a strength on our team.
“Me Darrien and Maddy work so well together. We just know how each other plays. I can make a nod, and Darrien will know exactly where it’s going to go. We control what we can control, and we ended up on top.”
Golder’s dazzling stat line included five goals, two assists, four draw controls, seven ground balls and five turnovers. Furiness added four goals, two assists, six draw controls and five ground balls while Spratt added two goals, three assists, three draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
They had plenty of help. Sarah Walcott added a hat trick and one assist while Lexie Snyder had two goals and an assist. Jaclyn Gorgo chipped in with one goal.
It all added up to a big win for the Falcons, who led wire to wire. Furiness put the Falcons on the board with a goal in the opening minute, and that was followed by goals from Golder and Sarah Walcott (Spratt assist), spotting the Falcons a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest. They went on to open up a 6-0 lead before senior Abby Durr put the Patriots on the scoreboard midway through the half.
By halftime, the Falcons had extended their lead to 13-3 on their way to the big win.
Pennsbury coach Shannon MacPherson had plenty of praise to go around after this one.
“We had some great caused turnovers in the midfield,” the Falcons’ coach said. “Olivia Walcott and Lexie Snyder caused awesome turnovers to get the ball back for attack.
“Defensively, Olivia Graebner, who’s a sophomore, didn’t have much of a season last year, and this year, she’s just come out on fire. She had a couple of good caused turnovers defensively. Ava Ricciardi on defense has been such a leader. She stepped up this year.”
Ricciardi had four ground balls and one caused turnover and Graebner had three ground balls.
Pennsbury goalie Ella Galati was credited with five saves.
Durr and Paige Keller both scored two goals for the Patriots.
Pennsbury (2-1, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Thursday, and Central Bucks East (2-4, 0-2) will host Pennridge on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.

Not a whole lot separated the Titans and Rams on Monday night. The two teams went into halftime deadlocked 4-4 and then again at 5-5, 6-6 and 7-7 before the Titans opened up a 9-7 lead and held on for the win.
“We played as a team and did all the little things, which led to the win,” South coach Janique Craig said. “Our defense crashed well, and we came up with most of the 50-50 balls and draw controls.”
The Titans took an 8-7 lead on a goal by junior Kate Victor and – with just under eight minutes remaining – upped that lead to 9-7 after a goal by Bridget Curtis. The Rams cut the lead to one but could not come up with the equalizer.
Craig lauded the efforts of several players in the win.
“Senior captain Janessa Watson had a great game and led the team with 11 draw controls and two assists,” the Titans’ coach said. “Captain Bridget Curtis played a fantastic defensive game and contributed two goals and four ground balls.
“Sophomore midfielder Grace Cannon had three draw controls, five ground balls and one assist, and junior Tegan Mullen led the team on attack with four goals and one assist.”
Victor added a pair of goals and junior Maddy Flynn had a single goal.
South goalie Gabby Mayo was credited with eight saves in a winning effort.”
Central Bucks South (2-4, 2-0 SOL) will travel to North Penn on Wednesday, and Pennridge (2-3, 1-1) will be on the road at Central Bucks East Wednesday.

Lily Szilagyi was a one-woman wrecking crew on offense, scoring eight goals to lead the Knights. North Penn seized control of the game in the second half when the Knights turned a 6-6 tie into a 13-7 win, outscoring their visitors 7-1 after the intermission.
“West did a good job of showing up today with lots of energy and ready to play,” NP coach Heather Mellow said. “They definitely outplayed us for the first 10 minutes of the game.
“We struggled in transition again today. Once we settled down on offense, goals started going in, and we started playing tougher defense. Lily Szilagyi had a huge game today with eight goals, and Kiera Holt gave us a boost every time she made a save. It was not our best game, but we are happy to have the win.”
Holt was credited with 10 saves in goal in a winning effort.
In addition to Szilagyi, Kayla Stressman added two goals and five draw controls while Emily Varilla had two goals, one assist and two draw controls. Danielle Preston added a goal and an assist, and Riley O’Donnell had a pair of assists.
Laynie Doran sparked the defense with three caused turnovers.
North Penn (3-1, 2-0 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Wednesday, and Central Bucks West (0-4, 0-2) will host Neshaminy on Wednesday.

Maddie Yoder had herself a day, contributing to 10 of her team’s 18 goals. The senior – who surpassed the 100-goal mark three days earlier – scored eight goals and assisted on two others. Ella Marino also had a stellar offensive outing, scoring five goals and assisting on three others.
“Maddie Yoder, Ella Marino and Emma Yoder quickly gained control of the midfield yet again, a credit to their agility, perseverance and teamwork,” Springfield coach Marissa Conover said. “Within the first three minutes, the score was 4-0. Transitions up the field were made possible by Fiona Rizzo and Lauren Corrado, working hard to connect one side of the field to the other.”
Emma Yoder added a pair of goals while Rizzo, Stella Nelson and Raya Davis each had one goal. Shannon Meder and Molly McGoldrick both added an assist.
Tess Talbot was credited with 12 saves in a strong outing in goal for the Spartans.
“Tess Talbot stopped incredible shots and held her own until the last minute,” Conover said. “With Molly McGoldrick taking the lead, the defense was able to work together seamlessly and shut down any drive or any play that was being implemented. I am happy with our teamwork that was displayed today.”
PW coach Ellen Reilly also had high praise for the performance of Talbot.
“Springfield’s goalie, Tess (Talbot), played an amazing game,” the Colonials’ coach said. “She held us to 12 goals on 28 shots. Plus Springfield controlled the majority of draw controls.”
For the Colonials, Fiona Gooneratne’s five-goal effort led the attack. Max Leszczynski added a hat trick while Raya Gauntlett and Meghan Wendler both added two goals.
“PW had a good game on the defensive end, led by Brianna Reynolds and Molly Schmeltzer,” Reilly said. “Fiona Gooneratne had a good game defensively.”
Springfield Township (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will travel to New Hope-Solebury on Wednesday, and Plymouth Whitemarsh (1-4, 1-1) will celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday when the Colonials host Quakertown.
