“I’m just happy we finally won one of these close games,” said North Penn coach Heather Mellow, whose team has come out on the short end of several nailbiters thus far. “My defense did a nice job protecting the 8-meter, especially when we were player down a couple times. Maddie Brown did an excellent job helping us transition the ball from defense to offense all night.
“CB East never gave up. They worked hard and were tough to get the ball from off the draw.”

“North Penn came out hot and consistently had a 1- to 2-goal lead, but we fought,” said East coach Maggie Stella. “Savannah Jagoda had a standout game defending one of their top scorers. Abby DiAmico also made key saves for us throughout the game. Our defense was awesome, they worked together, communicated, and slid.
“The game came down to Ava Delfini getting a ground ball at the top of the 30. She threw the ball to Paige Keller, who was driving intensely to net, when suddenly the whistle blew, one of our attackers was called for a push. The ball went back to North Penn, and they handled the ball and won the game.
“I am so proud of my team, and I know they will continue to grow.”

Upper Dublin 9, Abington 7
Upper Dublin rallied from a 5-2 halftime deficit and a 6-2 hole early in the second half to pull out a thrilling 9-7 win over Abington on Monday to remain unbeaten in American Conference play.
Allie Gay scored a critical goal in the waning seconds of the first half as part of a 4-goal effort, pulling the Cardinals to within three after falling behind 5-1. Anna DiMartile added 2 goals, 1 assist, 1 DC, 4 GB, and 3 CTO.
“This team found a way to fight back,” said Upper Dublin coach Dee Cross. “Abington’s goalie, Jadyn Bagby, came to play and made save after save. She made us work for every goal and most times with 2 and 3 attempts at a time.
“The difference in the second half was we were able to get some draw controls. Abington did a nice job in the first half of getting the draw and taking advantage of each possession. Once our midfield of Allie Gay, Paige Dinkel, and Anna DiMartile got things going, the rest of the team followed.”
The Cardinals limited the Ghosts to just two second-half goals.
“The defense came up with big plays and we were able to get the ball up field and score some goals,” Cross said. “Abby O’Meara, Olivia Broome, Sophia Sirianni and Maeve Hogan worked together to cause turnovers and get the ball to the attack. Anna Biermaas was steady in goal and made some key saves when we needed it.”
Dinkel had 2 goals, 4 DC, 3 GB for the Cardinals. Ella Lyon had a goal and an assist, while Julie Zlotnikoff and Maeve Hogan each had 1 assist. Abby O’Meara came up with 2 GB, 2 CTO, and Ava Shohen had 2 DC, 2 GB, and 1 CTO. Anna Biermass made 6 saves.
“Kelly Senior, Ella Lyon and Julie Zlotnikoff and Ava Shohen helped to settle the offense down and make plays or back up shots to help us keep possession,” Cross said. “It is great to see the girls learn from every situation that is thrown at them and play together as a team.”
For Abington, Audrey Silverman had 2 goals and 1 assist. Katie Pennekamp and Piper McGinley each scored twice, Carly Hughes had 1 goal, Charlotte Lowery picked up 3 assists, and Katie Warner had 1 assist.

Olivia Meakim and Reagan Cummins each scored 3 for the Golden Bears, Willow Taylor scored 2, and Jenna Piantieri added 1 goal. Isabel Leiter and Allison LaRocco each recorded 1 assist.
“Annalise Messina is an amazing player,” said Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach. “We did everything we could to deny her the ball because it is almost impossible to stop her in the open field. She still was their leading scorer.”
Addi Hurley made 11 saves in the victory for the Bears (4-1 American Conference, 8-2 overall), who trailed 8-7 at halftime. Upper Moreland scored 3 consecutive goals early in the second half to begin to pull away, ending the game on a 5-goal run. The Golden Bears limited the Trojans to just one goal in the second half.
There was plenty of praise to go around on the winning side on this day.
“Addi Hurley remained composed and communicative throughout,” said UM coach Kim Frantz. “Charlotte James and Kellen Diestel have stepped up greatly this year as huge additions to our defense, who shined today. Avery Adamski had 5 caused turnovers acting as our defensive director, and Cambrie Richmond was crucial in transition.

Annalise, despite being face-guarded, was a huge contributor all over, playing with composure and hunger. Allison LaRocco is new at the middie position, and it has been incredible watching her play so maturely and with such intensity.
“Jenna Piantieri was solid in transition and on attack. Reagan Cummins was huge in pushing fast breaks, and our offense showed great composure especially in the second half. Olivia Meakim was a great finisher for us today, and Isabel Leiter was crucial in being a vocal leader and composed presence. Maggie Morrow and Ella Gould did a great job coming in as a sub and playing strong.”

Lex McCabe was able to find space to score early in the game. We couldn’t find the back of the net in the second half. Credit to the Upper Moreland defense.”
Upper Moreland will visit Cheltenham at 3:30 pm Wednesday, while Wissahickon travels to neighborhood rival Upper Dublin for a 4:45 pm Wednesday matchup.
