Central Bucks East 17, Bensalem 10
Central Bucks East sent off their seniors with a resounding victory, earning a 17-10 victory over Bensalem on Senior Day.
The Patriots’ elder stateswomen more than did their parts to go out in style.
“Our senior class really showed up today,” said East coach Maggie Stella. “They wanted a win for our team, and I think they deserved it more than anything. This class has worked so hard to make this team better, and they are constantly thinking of others before themselves.”
Highlighting the efforts of the Patriots’ seniors, Rylee Surovec led all scorers with five goals, while Courtney Curry scored a hat trick. Morgan Tait and Ericka Zimmer each netted a pair.
“Rylee Surovec was all over the field today,” Stella said. “Courtney Curry was a force to be reckoned with grabbing draw controls. Morgan Tait and Ericka Zimmer dominated the attacking end and running our attack.
“Aidenn O’Leary led our defense with her communication and tenacity. She has grown so much this year. Lastly, Grace Gidwani did great work in cage with
10 saves. She really stepped up this year for us, stepping in cage for us as a D1 field hockey recruit. I am so proud of all of them.”
In addition to the senior standouts, Sammy Kishel scored two for the Patriots, while Sierra Buesing and Maya Trichon each scored one. Tait, Paige Keller, and Curry each added one assist.
Keller was dominant on draw controls with 11. Surovec earned three DCs, Ava Delfini and Lauren Boylan each picked up two, and Curry and Savannah Jagoda each added one. Boylan scooped up three ground balls, while Olivia Samkavitz, Delfini, Aidenn O’Leary, Surovec, Keller, and Jagoda each had on.

Pennridge 15, Council Rock South 3
Pennridge came away with a resounding victory on Monday, rolling to a dominant 15-3 win over previously unbeaten Council Rock South.
“Scoring 15 goals certainly indicates the Pennridge attack was working well, but holding an undefeated opponent to three goals is the result of a solid performance by the defensive rotation of seniors Brynn Wenger, Lauren Rush, Nikki Machado, junior Lauren Moylan, and freshman Abby Keller,” said Pennridge coach William Rodzewich.
Freshman goalie Anjali Verma turned in a stellar effort, making 8 saves to earn the victory.
On the offensive end, Maddy Edinger’s eight-point game (3G, 5A) led the way, with Natalie Yilanjian added six points (4G, 2A). Kate Unzicker netted four goals for the Rams, who also got scoring from Amelia Loughery (2G, 1A), Kendall Posey (1G, 2A), Grace Rosica (1G), and Ava Fantaskey (2A)

Souderton 16, Central Bucks West 6
The Indians used a team effort to notch a convincing win over the visiting Bucks in conference play Monday. Lauren Hallman and Ava Shaw led a balanced attack with four goals each.
“Lauren Hallman scored her 100th goal – a great accomplishment for a great player with many more to come,” Souderton coach Claudia LaMarca said. “Seven different players recorded points, and almost half of our goals were assisted.
“Our defense is to credit for our offensive production. Without the turnovers they caused, we wouldn’t have the chance to convert those opportunities offensively. We played 50 minutes of solid lacrosse, and as coaches, that’s all we can ask for.”
Also for the Indians, Tatum Andrews contributed one goal and three assists and Yasmin Khatri had two goals and two assists. Angela Borisow had two goals and one assist, and Reiley Knize added two goals. Jess Burns had one goal and one assist.

American Conference
Upper Moreland 9, Plymouth Whitemarsh 8
In a battle of frontrunners in the American Conference, Upper Moreland fell behind 6-3 in the first quarter, but battled back to take a 9-7 lead late in the game, then held off a Plymouth Whitemarsh rally attempt to remain unbeaten in league play and earn a hard-fought 9-8 win over the visiting Colonials on Monday.
“We knew coming into this game it would be a battle until the very last minute and that is exactly how the game was,” said Upper Moreland coach Kim Frantz. “Our attack had a game plan that came together well, and they worked as a unit to find open players. PW definitely made us be patient when we settled on attack as their defense played well together.”
The Golden Bears have come to count on goalkeeper Emma Hurley to make the big stops when called upon, and she didn’t disappoint on this day. Hurley turned aside 17 PW shots on the day.
“Yet again we had some huge saves from Emma,” Frantz said. “She really came through for us in big moments throughout the game.”
Facing adversity has been nothing new to Upper Moreland, which has dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season by seeing other players step up and fill in admirably. Today was no different.
“We lost one of our starting defenders, Riley Mullen, early in the season to an ACL injury and we have been working so hard ever since that day to come together,” Frantz said. “We have freshmen stepping up and playing in new positions and we have made small changes that have helped our team become a unit.
“Today we were missing a second starting defender, and junior Allison LaRocco stepped in and played strong. Freshman Avery Adamski has been working on learning our defense and has really fit right in with our senior-led defense. Sophia Hopf and Bree Knox continue to be strong leading our defense.”
On attack, Olivia Meakim had a game-high four goals and one assist. Annalise Messina had three goals and one assist, Heidi Wittick added a goal and two assists, Reagan Cummins chipped in with one goal, and Molly Meakim dished out a pair of assists.
Messina picked up five draw controls for the Golden Bears, while Cummins, Willow Taylor, and Wittick each had one. Adamski, Taylor, and Wittick each forced turnovers in the win.
“We lost a lot of the draws in the beginning of the game,” Frantz said. “In the second half, we were able to make some adjustments and come up with the ball more off the draw. There were a lot of times today you could see us truly working together as a team, our chemistry and being able to adapt was the key.”
Meghan Wendler led PW in scoring (2G, 2A). The Colonials also got contributions from Brianna Austin (2G, 1A), Sophia Gartland (1G, 1A), Bri Reynolds (1G, 1A), Fiona Gooneratne (1G), and
“We had chances to tie and take the lead, but we couldn’t capitalize on the offensive end,” said PW coach Ellen Reilly, whose squad scored on 2 of 10 shots in the second half. The Colonials had converted on 6 of 9 shots in the first half.
The Colonials also had strong efforts from Lonna Buono, Ella Clark, Kaylin Smyth, and Katie Lukens.
Upper Moreland remains alone atop the American Conference at 6-0 (10-1 overall). The Golden Bears will hit the road to visit New Hope-Solebury at 3:30 pm Wednesday. PW drops to 5-1, 6-3, and will look to rebound at 3:30 pm Thursday when the Colonials play host to Upper Dublin.
