CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 17, SOUDERTON 4
There are bounce-back wins, and this one would certainly fall in that category for a Titans’ squad that had lost five of its last six games. But Wednesday’s win over a Souderton squad that had not lost in conference play went beyond bounce-back for the Titans, and there was no mistaking coach Janique Craig’s immense pride in her team’s strong showing.
“The girls played as a total team unity – everyone contributed today,” the Titans’ coach said. “I am so proud of how everyone played today. Souderton is a great team.”
Credit this win at least in part to the inspired performances of captains Kate Victor and Grace Gannon. The duo was all but unstoppable. Victor had a hand in 11 goals, scoring eight and assisting on three. She also had five draw controls, and Gannon had a team high nine draw controls to go along with five goals and four assists.
“Kate Victor and Grace Gannon played amazing on the draw and on the attacking end,” Craig said. “The defense held Souderton to only four goals, which is incredible.”
Also for the Titans, Maddie Flynn had two goals, and Brooke Cenci had one goal. Emalee Day also had one goal to go along with two draw controls.
Gabby Mayo was credited with nine saves in a winning effort in goal for the Titans.
Central Bucks South (6-6, 3-2 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South on Friday, and Souderton (7-4, 4-1) will host Pennsbury on Monday.

“CR North refused to quit. After giving up three goals to start the second half, they went on to score seven straight goals. Pennridge finished the game on five-goal run.”

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 13, ABINGTON 6
Abington recognized seniors Emma Warner, Wren Castor, Caroline Hughes, Mei Mei Cheng and Marilynn Capps as well as managers Abbie Kelly and Kidist Dash.
“All of our fantastic seniors played like champs tonight,” Abington coach Amalie Kreitman said. “It was a tough loss but overall great game.”
For the Spartans, playing the Golden Bears on Senior Night was an opportunity to exact a degree of revenge.
“Last year, Abington came to our field and beat us on our Senior Night, so this was a neighborly rival that meant a lot – to be on their field for their Senior Night,” Springfield coach Marissa Conover said. “With an unruly Senior Night crowd, the entire second half was tense. I’m proud of the girls for their continued composure and hard work.”
The Spartans seized early control of the game, opening up a 4-0 lead and going into halftime with a 7-2 advantage.
“We were able to pressure and gain control of the game, especially during the transitions. Enough to get them to drop the ball or make a bad pass,” Conover said. “Middies Shannon Meder and Emma Yoder both had six draw controls which really gave us the opportunities on the field.”
Fiona Rizzo had a seven-point night to lead the Spartans, finishing with four goals and three assists. Emma Yoder also had four goals while Emily Smith had a hat trick. Sam McDevitt added a goal and assist, Shannon Silvius had one goal and Maddie McDevitt chipped in an assist.
Goalie Tess Talbot recorded eight saves in a winning effort.
For the Ghosts, Cheng and Castor both contributed two goals. Haley Hamsher and Caroline Hughes each had one goal.
“Harper McGinley and Joclyn Pollock were the ground ball queens,” Kreitman said. “Any time there was a ball on the ground they got it – played fantastic tonight. (Marilynn) Capps had three saves first half and jay (Jadyn Bagby) had six in the second half. They both played great. Our defense played a fantastic game and crashed beautifully.”
With the win, Springfield Township upped its record to 8-5 overall (5-2 SOL), and Abington is 5-6 overall and 3-3 in SOL play.

The Indians used a team effort to notch a convincing win over the visiting Bucks in conference play Monday. Lauren Hallman and Ava Shaw led a balanced attack with four goals each.
“Lauren Hallman scored her 100th goal – a great accomplishment for a great player with many more to come,” Souderton coach Claudia LaMarca said. “Seven different players recorded points, and almost half of our goals were assisted.
“Our defense is to credit for our offensive production. Without the turnovers they caused, we wouldn’t have the chance to convert those opportunities offensively. We played 50 minutes of solid lacrosse, and as coaches, that’s all we can ask for.”
Also for the Indians, Tatum Andrews contributed one goal and three assists and Yasmin Khatri had two goals and two assists. Angela Borisow had two goals and one assist, and Reiley Knize added two goals. Jess Burns had one goal and one assist.
