Germantown Academy 18, Upper Dublin 5
If nothing else, Upper Dublin’s 18-5 nonleague loss to Germantown Academy proved to be a learning experience.
“GA was a fast team and we have not faced that kind of speed this season, so it was a definite learning curve for us,” said Cardinals’ coach Dee Cross. “Ultimately, we were not able to slow down their transition and challenge their shots. It will help us moving forward with some tough league games coming up.”
The Cards kept it close through most of the first half, but a quick burst before halftime gave GA a 7-3 advantage at the break.
“We hung tough in the first half,” Cross said. “They scored three quick goals to end the half and get momentum.”
Anna DiMartile led Upper Dublin with 4 goals and 3 draw controls. Paige Dinkel had 1 goal, 1 assist, and 3 caused turnovers, Julie Zlotnikoff recorded 1 assist, Ava Shohen had 4 draw controls and 4 ground balls, and Olivia Broome and Allie Gay each recorded 3 CTOs.
Upper Dublin falls to 10-3 overall and remains 6-0 and tied atop the American Conference. Next up for the Cardinals is a visit to Lower Moreland at 3:30 pm Monday.
