Nonleague
Pennsbury 14, Plymouth Whitemarsh 10
Darrien Furiness added a true milestone to her stellar high school lacrosse career. The Pennsbury senior scored her 100th career goal as part of a three-goal game as the host Falcons earned the non-league victory.
“The coaches and team are so happy for Darrien,” coach Shannon McPherson said. “She has been a leader on the field and shows up every day and gives her all. We are all very proud of Darrien and excited to celebrate this milestone for her.”
Furniess does a whole lot more than just put the ball in the net, though. The Ohio State-bound senior also scooped up seven ground balls, racked up eight DC, and added one assist.
Lily Abraham, Caroline Mellon, and Grace Holmes joined Furiness with three goals each. Olivia Graebner added a pair of goals along with seven ground balls, two caused turnovers, and eight draw controls for the Falcons, who led 7-4 at halftime.
“Olivia did excellent on the draw today and continues to be a strong force on the field,” McPherson said. “As an attack, we contributed as a whole on goals. Lily made her presence felt on attack today. Grace Holmes had a great game on the draw today and also contributed with three goals.”
Abraham also recorded two ground balls for the Falcons. Mia Popovitch (1GB, 1 DC), Mellon (1 GB), and Rylie Borgman (2 DC, 1 CTO) also contributed. Holmes added two ground balls, one caused turnover and four draw controls to her three-goal game. Sophia Curtis had 1 ground ball and 2 caused turnovers, and Angela Kenney had one ground ball and one caused turnover. Kema Brown recorded eight saves to earn the victory in goal.
For the Colonials, Bri Austin poured in a game-high four goals. Rhianna Gooneratne and Meghan each scored two goals, Sophia Gartland had one goal and one assist, Olivia Reilly chipped in with one goal, and Fiona Gooneratne dished out two assists. Goalie Aniya Bond made 10 saves.
Pennsbury (7-2 overall, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Souderton, and PW (6-5, 5-2 SOL) will visit Abington for a 7 pm Monday matchup.

North Penn 12, West Chester Henderson 10
Kiera Holt turned aside 14 shots in a tightly contested game to help lift North Penn to a 12-10 victory over West Chester Henderson in Friday’s nonleague matchup.
“Our defense was led by Kiera Holt in the cage,” said North Penn coach Heather Mellow. “With every save she made, she boosted our confidence as a team.
“Tonight was a great team effort. From the starters to the players off the bench, everyone stepped up and played well together.”
Kerry O’Donnell scored a team-leading four goals and added five draw controls for the Knights.
“Kerry O’Donnell had a big game for us on the draw, attack, and all over the field,” Mellow said. “Kerry, Emily Varilla, and Dani Preston have been working so hard for us in the midfield this year and continued to do a great job tonight creating turnovers or transitioning the ball to the attack.”
Jordan Baily had two goals and one assist for the Knights. Kayla Stressman scored twice and had three DCs, Riley O’Donnell scored two goals, Varilla netted one goal and added two DCs, Olivia Caputo chipped in with one goal, and Preston had one assist and two caused turnovers.
North Penn improves to 9-3 overall (6-0 SOL) and returns to league play when it visits Central Bucks East at 5 pm Monday.

West Chester Henderson 4-6 10

NP senior Emily Varilla is coach Heather Mellow’s go-to player when she is looking for a lockdown defender. According to the Knights’ coach, the offensive part of her game is a bonus of sorts. In the Knights’ win over Council Rock South on Wednesday, Varilla was recognized for reaching the 100-point milestone.
“Honestly, she’s more of a defensive player for me than she is even as an offensive player,” Mellow said. “She a huge offensive threat for us, but her defensive presence is probably the most intimidating. That’s what we use her for. She directs the defense.
“She does everything – she does the draws, she sets plays up on offense. She’s my go-to girl and has been for a long time. I’m excited for her that’s she gotten 100 points, but that’s just a small piece of who she is. She’s much more than that to us. Every aspect of the field – that’s what she is. She’s a selfless player. On draw controls, you’ll see Kayla Stressman getting credit or Kerry O’Donnell getting credit, but it’s really Emily putting the ball to them. It’s going to be hard to let that kid go. She’s a very intelligent player, and she understands the sport really, really well.”
American Conference
Wissahickon 15, Abington 5
The Trojans remained perfect in conference play with Friday’s win.
For the Ghosts, Mei Mei Cheng scored her 50th career goal as part of a 3-goal effort. Caroline Hughes had a goal and assisted on Emma Warner’s goal. Jadyn Bagby made nine saves in goal for Abington.
“Overall, the girls had a fantastic game and I couldn’t be prouder of them,” said Abington coach Amalie Kreitman.
Wissahickon (9-2, 6-0 SOL) will host Upper Moreland in a key conference battle on Monday, and Abington (5-7, 3-4) will host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday.
National Conference
Central Bucks South 6, Council Rock South 5
The Titans edged the Golden Hawks in a tightly contested defensive battle on Friday.
“CB South played a terrific defensive game and transitioned the ball up the field well,” CB South coach Janique Craig said. “We also had a controlled poised offense and made every offensive possession count. We are coming together nicely after our field adjustments due to four injuries. Council Rock South had a solid defensive unit – the close game should be credited to both teams’ defenses.”
Grace Gannon was a force all over the field, contributing two goals, four caused turnovers and four draw controls. Madeline Flynn also had a pair of goals. Kate Victor added one goal, one assist and two draw controls, and Brooke Cenci had one goal and one assist.
Defensively for the Titans, goalie Gabby Mayo was credited with 10 saves in a strong outing. Erin Smith had four ground balls and one caused turnover, and Emalee Day had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Central Bucks South (7-6, 4-2 SOL) will host Great Valley in a non-league game Monday, and Council Rock South (7-3, 3-3) will be on the road at Central Bucks West on Monday.
