Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ lacrosse teams in action Friday.

National Conference
Pennridge 9, Council Rock North 4
It was a perfect Kendall Posey play.
The Pennridge senior attacker cradled the ball in her stick as she roamed around the 8-meter circle just waiting for the right moment. With defenders watching her, she spotted Taylor Burkett cutting down the middle and delivered a perfect pass that Burkett put away for a goal.
On an offense full of capable scorers, Posey prefers the pass, and her dish to Burkett was the 200th point of her career.
“It feels really good,” Posey said. “I’ve worked really hard these past four years, and it makes me feel really validated because I know the work I’m putting in outside the field is paying off on it.”
Posey, a co-captain, can score, and the senior is nearing 100 goals for her career. However, she’ll take the pass first if it’s there, having already netted more than 100 helpers in her time with the Rams.
“I always pride myself on my selflessness,” Posey said. “I really think that my ability to play both sides of the field, not just taking it 1v1, but seeing the cutters adds a lot.”
As Pennridge coach Karen Feher describes it, Posey’s the one who makes the other attackers fit together.
“She is the girl that sets everyone up,” Feher said. “She’s a phenomenal kid. Kate (Unzicker) and Ava (Fantasky), Cayla (Wurz) and Taylor, they can’t be who they are without Kendall.”
Burkett also seemed a perfect recipient. The junior had set up Posey for a goal in the first quarter, the senior’s 199th point, and got the favor repaid during a 4-0 run to open the third quarter.
“I run cross country with Taylor, so we get a lot of time together in the fall and again in the spring,” Posey said. “We’re really close, I know I can trust that Taylor’s going to make it.”
Pennridge had nine goals on Friday, but they did not come easily. The Rams had a lot of shots, 23 on goal, but most never found their way in thanks to the efforts of CR North’s Lucy Carney.
The Indians goalie made all kinds of saves: high, low, in close, on eight-meters, to finish with 14 stops and quite a few caused frustrations from the home team’s attackers.
“Their goalie is phenomenal,” Feher said. “Hands down, she kept them in the game today. I just give mad props to that goalie.”
Cat McBride also had a strong effort for CR North, scoring all four goals, winning four draw controls, adding three ground balls and causing a turnover. Maddy Mela added two assists.
Fantasky netted a hat trick for the Rams, with Burkett tallying two goals and two assists. Madigan Posey had a goal and an assist, Unzicker scored and Wurz also found the back of the net.
Makenna Charles, Aubrey Bailey, Norah Herbst and Abigail Keller led a determined Pennridge defense in front of goalies Anjali Verma and Molly Hawkins. The two juniors each played a half in goal, sharing 10 saves.
Both goalies have split time throughout the year and it’s an extremely supportive relationship.
“They are each other’s biggest fans, they’re each other’s biggest supporters, the one on the sideline is cheering the other on, I could not ask for a better situation,” Feher said.
The win leaves Pennridge as the sole unbeaten team in the SOL National, with a one game lead over CB West and a head-to-head win against the Bucks and now two games clear of CR North.
“Our plan all along was possess the ball, be smart with the ball, make the best decisions possible, and I think we did not always made the best decisions, but at the end of the day, we worked as a team,” Feher said. “We united each other and brought each other up.”
Extra shots: In addition to scoring three goals, Fantaskey also had one caused turnover and three draw controls. Madigan Posey, who had a goal and an assist, had two caused turnovers, one ground ball, and four draw controls. Unzicker, who scored once, had three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Also contributing were Aubrey Bailey (3 GB), Leah Verespy (1 CTO, 2 GB, 2 DC), Makena Charles (2 CTO), Norah Herbst (1 GB), and Gianna Leuthe (1 DC).
Pennridge (12-3, 8-0 SOL) will visit Springfield-Delco at 4 pm Friday for a nonleague game, then will host Pennsbury at 7 pm Monday. North (6-2, 9-3) will host Central Bucks South at 6 pm Monday.

Wissahickon 16, North Penn 6
Emma Greenberg scored a game-high five goals to reach the 100-goal milestone for her Wissahickon career. Greenberg’s offensive efforts sparked the Trojans to a decisive 16-6 victory over North Penn in Friday’s SOL crossover game.
“I am extremely proud of Emma,” said Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach. “She is a hard worker day in and day out since the first day she put on the Wissahickon jersey. The whole team loves to play with her, so when I told them she had reached 100 goals, the genuine excitement and happiness for her was humbling.”
Greenberg didn’t do it alone, though. She had plenty of help from her teammates. Most notably, Sophia Stehlik came through with three goals, three assists, seven draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover.
“Sophia Stehlik had a great game,” Wurzbach said. “When Emma started to struggle taking the draw, Sophia took over and dominated it for the rest of the game. If she wasn’t self-drawing, she was getting it to Lila Marciniak. Phia was making hustle plays all over the field.”
Sam Farno scored four goals, while Marciniak posted three goals and one assist to go along with five draw controls and one ground ball. Maddie Radell added one goal.
Tatum Ruhren made 1 save to earn the win in the cage for Wissahickon (13-3-1 overall, 8-2 in American Conference play).
Maddie Brown scored three goals and added one assist to lead North Penn’s scoring. Katie Harkins scored twice and Morgan Rodoff chipped in with one goal.
The Trojans visit William Tennent at 3:30 pm Monday. North Penn (3-13, 3-5 National Conference) will host Souderton at 7 pm Monday.

Bishop Shanahan 6, Springfield Twp 5
Losing in the final minute can be a deflating experience for a team. Losing in the final second is simply devastating.
Springfield Twp battled back to forge a 5-5 tie with Bishop Shanahan with less than two minutes left in Friday’s nonleague contest, but Shanahan netted the game-winner with less than one tick left on the clock to pull out the 6-5 victory.
“The game could have gone either way and it was a heartbreaker,” said Springfield coach Marissa Conover. “We tied it up 5-5 with 1:46 left in the game It was 5-5 to the very last second. With 0.2 seconds on the clock, Bishop Shanahan calls a timeout after a foul outside the 12. They shoot it and score.”
Despite the mark in the loss column, Conover had nothing but positives to say about her team’s effort.
“Tess Talbot had 11 saves, really good, game-altering saves, stepping out of the crease to intercept, defending shots right up on her,” Conover said of her goalkeeper. “Amazing work from her today.
“We had huge plays from Adrianna Demers, Julia Guicheteau, Jess Shapley, and Natalie Rittler on defense. Our defense was great, our middies Emma Yoder, Maddie McDevitt, and Shannon Silvius were winning the draw, facilitating transition, and overall being the heartbeat of the team by winning the 50/50 balls and keeping us on it.”
Yoder led the Spartans’ scoring with three goals. Frankie Rizzo and Sam McDevitt each chipped in with one goal, and Fiona Rizzo dished out two assists.
The Spartans move to 10-5 overall, 8-1 in American Conference play. The Spartans will host Abington at 7 pm Monday.
