“CB South played a great team game today and had nine different goal scorers,” South coach Janique Craig said. “We also celebrated senior captain Tegan Mullan’s 100th goal. Tegan just came back from an injury, and we are so happy to have her back.”

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 11, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 8
Tess Talbot celebrated a milestone in Thursday’s impressive non-league win, recording 13 saves which include the 300th save of the sophomore goalie’s career.
“Tess Talbot had 13 amazing game-winning saves – shots that would have gone in if she wasn’t Tess Talbot,” Springfield coach Marissa Conover said. “This game was such a great matchup, and it was close the whole game.”
The two teams were deadlocked 6-6 at halftime, and the Spartans’ defense held the visiting Golden Hawks to just two second half goals.
“Our defense caused a lot of turnovers,” Conover said. “The defense on both teams played high pressure. It’s high risk high reward, and this one worked in our favor.”
Emily Smith scored five goals and added two assists, and Emma Yoder had four goals. Sam McDevitt contributed a goal and an assist while Shannon Meder had one goal. Maddie McDevitt had a pair of assists, and Fiona Rizzo had one helper.
“Emily Smith was so strong on attack,” Conover said. “Our middies had great connections with our attackers in transition, especially Emma Yoder and Maddie McDevitt having a hand in almost every play.
“I think after such a tough loss yesterday (a 12-11 overtime loss to Hatboro-Horsham), we just wanted to have some fun and bring the love back. They talked, they worked hard, they fought, and they came away with the win. We celebrated Tess’s 300th save as only a sophomore, and we are blessed to have her for another two years.”
Springfield Township (10-6, 6-3 SOL) will travel to Upper Moreland on Monday, and Council Rock South (8-4, 3-3) will be on the road at Central Bucks East on Friday.
