North Penn 2, Central Bucks South 0
The Knights came through with their biggest result of the season Monday.
A strong defensive effort helped keep the Titans' potent attack quiet after North Penn built a halftime lead. Keeper Ashley Schmidt was terrific, saving a CB South penalty kick and a breakaway build-up between Brooke Steigerwalt and Aleksa Peev.
"It shows signs we are heading in the right direction and the ladies' character burned very bright," Knights coach Steve Whitby said. "It would have been easier to fold up the tents and not fight. Grace Sacchetti and Olivia Jerome both played a great match."
Whitby credited Schmidt and also the keeper's back line. Sacchetti, who scored in the first half, finished the game playing center back after an injury to Casey Cavanaugh at the close of the first half.
Emma Dickon, Emily Schurr and Megan Coulton also played well defensively for North Penn.
Jerome also scored for the Knights, who led 2-0 at the break.
"North Penn had a well-organized attack and was able to get behind our defenders," CB South coach Betsy Bullock said. "The second half saw the Titans with more offensive pressure from Aleksa Peev, Brooke Steigerwalt and Mackenzie Edwards. Keeper Maddie McShane kept us in the game with seven saves."
The Titans (9-4-3, 6-3-2 SOL) visit CB East on Wednesday at 3:30. North Penn (5-10-1, 2-8-1) hosts Pennridge at 3:45 on Wednesday, then concludes the regular season with a home match against Germantown Academy on Friday.
"I'm looking for more of the creativity and character I saw tonight," Whitby said.

Souderton 3, Central Bucks West 2 2OT
The Indians celebrated their Senior Night with an emotional and hard-fought win over a rejuvenated Bucks team.
Allie Trick gave Souderton the win when she scored with about three minutes left in the second overtime after Campbell Power stayed with the play and sent a great cross to a wide-open Trick on the far post.
"I try to give Campbell 90 percent of our crossing set plays. It just helps with consistency for that player," Souderton coach Chris Felber said. "She has a lot of power and control with both feet. She can whip in a really good ball."
The Bucks pushed Souderton to the limit as they make a late surge for a playoff spot. Defender Allie Walsh was fantastic for CB West, so much so that she almost had Felber seeing double.
"A big shout out to West, they look like a rejuvenated team and they all worked very hard and made it difficult
for us," Felber said. "Allie Walsh was incredible. I could swear there were two No. 10s on the field. I know playoffs were on the line for them and they did themselves proud."
Souderton took an early lead when senior Hannah Croll's corner kick found senior Tori Dowd for the finish, shockingly the first goal off a corner all season for the Indians. The Bucks were not deterred and scored twice to take a 2-1 lead to the half.
"I thought Trish Hauck and Allie Walsh played outstanding. I feel like we are playing very good soccer right now. Our last three league games were against East, Pennridge and Souderton and they were all one-goal games," West coach Mike Moyer said. "Those three teams are going to go far in the state tournament and we are right there with them. If we can get a win Friday against West Chester Henderson and sneak into districts, I think we can do some damage."
Hauck has been a catalyst to West's resurgence and she again proved a handful for an opposing defense.
"We just believe in her and she continues to dominate the final third," Moyer said. "Not too many girls can defend her 1-on-1."
Souderton ramped up its possession after the half, and its ball movement led to the equalizer. Trick started a passing sequence by finding Bre DiRenzi, getting it back, then feeding senior Cara McCausland for the finish about six minutes into the second half.
"Everybody chips in with possession, we are very comfortable all over the field," Felber said. "Sara Readinger, Bre, Aleia Kramer and Hannah Croll played in the middle of the park for us.
"Fullbacks Sam Harwick, Darby Kramer, Taylor Moritz and Campbell always provide an outlet on the ball."
Moyer wants nothing more than for his team, which has finished SOL play, to find its way into the postseason.
"It would mean everything. This group has been through so much and when I took over my promise to them was to make the postseason," Moyer said. "It was our goal and my seniors deserve it. We need to take care of our game on Friday and see if it's enough."
Souderton, which is still in contention for a Continental title, is poised for its third postseason bid in the last three years. Felber feels his group is back on form and playing good soccer, which is a credit to its senior leaders.
"When this group was freshmen, they learned a lot from their senior class. Learning what that class had gone through formed what they wanted to change. This group has learned from that and carried it through but also added their skill and desire to win," Felber said. "Every year this group has won more games than the year before and every year this group has left their shirt in a better place than they found it."
Souderton (11-4, 7-4 SOL) will travel to William Tennent for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday. Central Bucks West (8-9, 3-9) will close out its regular season Friday on the road at West Chester Henderson.

Pennridge 5, William Tennent 1
The Rams honored their eight seniors with a much-needed offensive outburst Monday.
With the win and CB South's loss to North Penn, Pennridge finds itself atop the Continental with one match to play. Souderton is only two points back going into the final day of the conference season.
Three of the five goals came from seniors in a match that was tighter than the score might indicate.
"It was huge, we talked about it last week – just being more consistent in our scoring opportunities behind the defenders," Rams’ coach Audrey Anderson said. "Our midfield's been getting a little bit better, our defenders have been pretty consistent and for our forwards to finish the way we did, it's pretty encouraging going into the postseason."
Tennent had handed Pennridge its first loss of the year in their first meeting and the Rams were ready this time around. Anderson said her team keyed more on the Panthers' main players and did a much better job policing loose balls in the box.
Leading the Rams’ defensive effort was senior Courtney Supp, who's been not only terrific all season for the Rams but so consistent that it's become expected.
"Courtney Supp did a great job, she doesn't always get the recognition the goal-scorers get, but she's been so consistent the entire season," Anderson said. "She has a good head on her shoulders, and she's a forward playing a defensive position for us. She was calm and did her best to make sure we weren't going to make the same mistakes again. She learned from the first game and is a good leader to have back there."
Last season, the Rams had 11 seniors, and while this year's group wasn't as large, they've been part of a lot of wins with the program.
"They're such a nice group of kids, and most of them have played together since they were young so for them to be able to pull out a win together, it makes me feel good as a coach," Anderson said. "I was proud of how they worked together tonight."
Lauren Plezia got the Rams on the board late in the first half, and despite Tennent getting an early red card, it was just 1-0 at the break. Junior Abby Groff broke the game open with two goals in about a minute early in the second half.
"Abby puts a lot of pressure on herself so for her to get these goals this year, I think it's going to set the tone for her next year and in the postseason," Anderson said. "She needed this for herself because she's very hard on herself when she doesn't score. She gets herself into those spots on the field and it was good for her to get two."
Seniors Caroline Thomson (PK) and Liz Cardie added second-half goals for the final margin.
Pennridge (11-2-2, 7-2-2 SOL) visits North Penn on Wednesday while Tennent (9-6, 5-6) hosts Souderton to conclude the SOL season.

Upper Dublin 2, Hatboro-Horsham 1
Senior goalkeeper Devon Jones has been the quiet constant for the Cardinals this season.
When her teammates needed her on Monday, the senior came up huge by stuffing a penalty kick to keep the game tied. While Upper Dublin had already locked up the American title, the Cardinals are fighting for a first-round playoff bye and need every point they can get.
Seniors Tori Hoffner and Lindsey Schreiber provided the scores for Upper Dublin.
"It was good team win, playing at their place on their Senior Night, it was a hard-fought win," UD coach John Topper said. "It was really nice to see Tori and Lindsey step up as senior leaders and provide some timely goals."
With the game tied in the second half and the Hatters pressuring, the Cardinals committed a foul in the box to give up the PK.
"I think that was the turning point for us," Topper said. "For Devon (Jones) to come up so big and keep us from falling behind, it was huge for us. She stepped up and making such a big save, it began to tip things back in our favor."
Hoffner scored in the fourth minute with Emily Booth providing the assist. Schreiber, a three-sport athlete at UD, scored the winner in the 69th minute thanks to a helper from Molly Pappalardo. Topper said the senior is a natural athlete and her experience in basketball and lacrosse only make her a more dangerous soccer player.
"She did what she's been doing well all year and put their backs under pressure and created chances," Topper said. "She's had trouble finding the net in recent games but she tucked this one away confidently and that was a big goal for us."
Topper also noted the play of sophomore Laure Pendleton both at center back and in the midfield. With Lexi Moss out injured, the Cardinals needed Pendleton to cover a lot of ground and cover Hatboro-Horsham's Ally Eutermoser, who scored the lone goal for the Hatters.
"As she's been all year, she was steady and did a great job for us," Topper said.
Upper Dublin (14-1-1, 13-0 Sol) hosts Upper Moreland Wednesday night at 7. Hatboro-Horsham (8-8, 8-5) is at Cheltenham at 3:30.

The Colonials picked up a crucial win as they attempt to lock up a District I playoff bid.
Alyse Caffrey netted a hat-trick, Victoria Betterly scored twice and Natalie Lannie and Emily Rosenberger each had a goal for PW, which led 5-0 at half of its Senior Night.
"Our girls came out ready to go, scoring 30 seconds into the game. They know that every game is a playoff game from here on out," PW coach Ryan Zehren said. "We control our own destiny and know we needed to win to go to the playoffs. All around, just a great effort moving into what is by far our most important game of the year."

Wissahickon 1, Upper Moreland 1 2OT
The Golden Bears honored their seniors with maximum effort against the Trojans.
"Carly Wasson, Shannon Moore and Jen Storbrauck wanted the best from their teammates tonight and that is exactly what they got," UM coach Lisa Benvenuto said. “It was a 100-minute battle. Neither team was willing to record the loss. It was a incredible game to coach and be a part of, two teams leaving it all on the field for the love of the game.”
Lieke Black scored in the 65th minute for Wissahickon, which was otherwise stifled by the play of Storbrauck in the net. UM had a quick answer.
"When Wissahickon took the lead, we stepped up and within four minutes put in an equalizer off of a set play. Sarah Veneziale put a perfect ball on frame and Kathryn Morrow was there for the finish," Benvenuto said.
Aiding Upper Moreland was a stout defensive effort.
"Defensively, Carly Wasson, Emma Meakim and Maddie Gerlach had strong games. Standing out in the back field though, was Chloe Leiter who guarded Alexis Smith," Benvenuto said. "Alexis a dynamic player, she is quick and athletic. Chloe played tremendously, she mentally knew what her role was tonight and played it perfectly."
Upper Moreland (5-11-1, 3-9-1 SOL) visits Upper Dublin Wednesday night at 7 while Wissahickon (4-11-1, 4-8-1) is at Springfield Township on its new turf field.

Council Rock South 5, Bensalem 0
Julie Rebh scored two goals and assisted a third to continue a stellar offensive season for the Golden Hawks.
"If she's not the one with an assist or goal, she was involved in the play somehow," South coach Nick Heim said. "She's a senior who has started for the majority of her career. She isn't flashy, but she's consistent. She is a workhorse and her teammates respect her immensely. She made sure this offseason was one the girls took seriously and really is to credit for much of the team's success this year."
Rebh isn't just a scoring leader on the field either.
"She's a very cerebral player as well," Heim said. "It's why she has been unanimously voted team captain for two straight years."
Paige Mikula also netted a brace and Kiera Flanagan scored one and assisted two as the Hawks stayed atop the SOL National standings.
"Sammy Jones was terrific creating opportunities all evening," Heim said. "Emily Kavash and Carley Hickey handled Bensalem's offensive threats well, as did Grace O'Kane and Callie Deola."
Emily Helmich picked up the shutout in goal.

Council Rock North 1, Haverford 1
The Indians weren't able to find a winning goal as they try to slip into the District I playoffs.
Becca Margolis scored off a Mia Scalamandre assist, Abby Schroeder made 12 saves and the defense played strong in windy conditions as North battled for 100 minutes. Margolis, a senior midfielder, continued to be a rock for the team.
"We've been asking a lot from her all year and she continues to respond," North coach Gavin Flannigan said.
The Indians essentially face two must-win games to conclude the final week of the season. While North had a couple chances late in extra time, Flannigan conceded the game was pretty balanced.
"I thought the game was even. The wind seemed to have an affect on play," Flannigan said. "Both teams had more pressure playing with the wind."
North also called on its back line plenty.
"Our defense of Mia (Scalamandre), Brooke (Strobel), Meredith (Hill) and Lily (Ries) played well today," Flannigan said. "There wasn't any big specific moment. They just covered well for each other and really read the game well. They limited Haverford's chances overall.
"I also thought Caroline Erlandsen did well."
The Indians (8-6-2, 5-5-1 SOL) host New Hope-Solebury on Wednesday for Senior Night.
"We know we need results in these two games," Flannigan said. "Hopefully we can celebrate the seniors with a good performance and a win."
