NESHAMINY 4, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3 (OT)
Brooke Mullin scored two minutes into overtime, turning a Brianna Tobin corner kick into a goal to propel the Redskins to the electrifying overtime win in a classic non-league battle with the visiting Titans.
“This win was huge for us,” coach Chelsea Lovelace said. “This is what the playoffs are going to be like, so it’s nice to see our girls battle back and come out with a win.”
The win capped a difficult four-game stretch for the Redskins against four district-bound squads. The Redskins – the top-seeded team in the latest power rankings – began their remarkable run with a 1-0 win over ninth-seeded Downingtown West and followed that with a 1-0 win over second-seeded Pennsbury. A 4-1 win over 22nd-seeded Council Rock North was followed by Monday’s gutsy win.
“Honestly, it was a complete team effort, but Brooke Mullin battled back from a head to nose injury she got going up for a header on a corner about 20 minutes earlier and then scored our winning goal off of another corner, so it meant a lot to see her persevere and find the goal,” Lovelace said.
Interestingly, the two teams battled to a scoreless halftime tie, but things changed in a hurry in the second half. In the 41st minute, Jackie Ziegler found the net to cap a play that began with a cross from Hannah Stonkus that Mullin flicked and Ziegler finished.
South came back to knot the score when Courtney Taylor, who was fouled in the box, converted a penalty kick. Ziegler put the Redskins on top 2-1 when she found the net with her second goal during a scramble in the box after a Genna Obringer throw in.
The Titans scored the equalizer on a corner in the 55th minute when Taylor scored, using a feed from outside mid Morgan Hilton. Fifteen minutes later, Alyssa Tobin finished after a misclear on a corner to give the ‘Skins a 3-2 lead, but the Titans kept pressing and knotted the scored in the 79th minute with a composed finish in front of the net by Aleksa Peev, setting the stage for overtime and Mullin’s heroics.
“It was an all-out battle,” Lovelace said. “We came out flat in the first half, which I was afraid of coming into a Monday night game.
“The second half we started to pick it up, scoring in the first minute of the half, and from there, we just kept building momentum. We had a few unfortunate calls that dictated a few goals, but our girls didn’t give up the fight and knew they had to put the game away quickly in the first overtime period.”
The Redskins held a 13-8 advantage in shots. Neshaminy goalkeeper Riley Spingler recorded 10 saves.
Neshaminy (14-1-1, 8-1-1 SOL) will be on the road at Harry S Truman on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest. Central Bucks South (13-3, 8-2) will travel to North Penn on Tuesday.

SOUDERTON 3, METHACTON 0
The Indians earned a hard-fought win over the Warriors.
“The girls were fired up, and we started the game with high energy and came out technically strong,” coach Chris Felber said. “Our passes were connecting, and we had great build up for several shots on goal. Every player saw the field tonight, and everyone played well.”
The first goal came 12 minutes into the contest off a beautiful corner from senior Ellie Andrade, which gave way to a “killer head ball” by senior Meredith Moore. The Indians took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
Midway through the second half, the Indians scored on another corner kick from Andrade, and this time it was senior center back Sara Cassel finishing it off with a header. Shortly thereafter, Bre DiRenzi was in the perfect spot to finish off a great cutback cross by Tori Dowd, giving the Indians their final margin of victory.
Souderton (8-4-3, 6-2-2 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

UPPER MORELAND 6, NORRISTOWN 1
The Golden Bears opened up a 3-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game and never looked back on their way to the no-doubt-about-it win.
“Upper Moreland took the field with confidence today after falling to Quakertown on Friday,” coach Lisa Benvenuto said. “The Bears have been playing well in their last four games.
“We have been working on generating our offense and finishing our chances, and it worked for us today.”
Brianna Byard (Sydney Bachmayer assist) put the Bears on the board six minutes into the game. A Norristown own goal off a UM corner by Sam Cancel put the Bears up 2-0. Then it was Bachmayer turning a pass by Cancel into a goal before Norristown got on the board with a goal by Gabby Castenova.
In the second half, the Bears received a pair of goals from Bachmayer – who finished with the hat trick – and a single goal from Madison Pisut (Byard assist).
Upper Moreland (5-9-2, 4-7-1 SOL) will travel to Wissahickon on Tuesday.

PENNRIDGE 2, WISSAHICKON 1 (OT)
The Rams earned the dramatic win when Ashley Groeber scored with an assist from Kennedy Peace two minutes into the first overtime.
“It was a great matchup,” Wissahickon coach Shannon Creamer-Franke said. “Our style of play was in line with Pennridge, enabling an exciting hard-fought 80 minutes of play.”
The Rams got on the scoreboard in the 38th minute when Rachel Velez turned a Dani Meenan corner into a goal. Maddie Elwell evened the score in the closing moments of the opening half.
“Maddie Elwell leveled the score with an unbelievable shot from at least 35 yards out, sailing far side over the outstretched Pennridge keeper,” Creamer-Franke said.
That 1-1 tie stood until Groeber’s game winner.
Despite the outcome, Creamer-Franke had high praise for her team against a Ram squad seeded fourth in the latest district rankings.
“Center backs Mary Matthews and Anna Wilde played the best game that I have seen to date,” the Trojans’ coach said. “The Trojans played the best game I have seen to date.
“In the first half, Matthews read the field, stepping forward and falling back flawlessly and limiting Pennridge’s attack and allowing her to gain possession building from the back forward. Wilde stepped up in the second half to shut down Pennridge advances, holding them to six shots with no reward.”
The Rams held a 14-1 advantage in shots. Wissahickon keeper Nicole Hastings recorded eight saves.
Pennridge (14-1-1, 8-1-1 SOL) will travel to William Tennent on Tuesday, and Wissahickon (10-4-1, 8-3-1) will host Upper Moreland in its Senior Night game Tuesday.
ABINGTON 1, BENSALEM 0
Lily Campoli banged home a rebound of a headed ball by Isabelle Bautista to earn a hard-fought win in its conference finale. Lindsay Baer started the attack with a nice run down the left flank. She brought the ball across the defender and rifled a shot that the keeper parried off the crossbar where it caromed to Bautista.
Ashley Harper had the clean sheet in goal for the Ghosts.
Abington (5-11, 4-8 SOL) will travel to Cheltenham for a non-league contest on Wednesday, and Bensalem (5-10-2, 3-8) will be on the road at Council Rock South on Tuesday.
