Upper Moreland coach Lisa Benvenuto on the game: “Following yesterday’s loss to William Tennent, we challenged the girls to bounce back–we needed to possess the ball, we needed to finish our opportunities, and we needed to move up and down the field as a cohesive unit.
“Today, we were able to do that, and I was proud of the girls for bouncing back.”
–The scoring: “We were able to get on the scoreboard first today, with a strong sequence of passing that led to the ball finding Leah King, who found Keiley Hawk on a far side run. Hawk showed composure in front of the net and placed the ball in the side netting away from the goalie.
“We went into halftime with the lead and talked about what we needed to do to extend that lead. Coming into the second half, we were given a corner, where Lizzie Walker was able to find Keiley Hawk far post. For our final goal, Walker once again found herself out for a corner, the ball made its way back to her and she placed it far post – spectacular finish.”
Props: “Great team effort today, solid minutes and contributions from Lizzie Walker, Maggie Brophy, Stefanie Jones, Keiley Hawk and Madeline Cox.”
