Maddy Murphy opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the first half, then capped it off in the second half as North Penn topped Faith Christian Academy 3-0 in Saturday’s nonleague game. Lily McGee scored the Knights’ second goal.
Scoring Summary
First Half
Maddy Murphy (NP), 8th minute (1-0)
Lily McGee (NP), 22nd minute (2-0)
Second Half
Maddy Murphy (NP), 46th minute (3-0)
North Penn coach Mike Rio: “This was a good performance by the girls today. We did a good job controlling possession and getting opportunities.”
–The goals: “Both of Maddy’s goals were from PKs after Lily McGee got in behind the defense and was taken down in the box after some good combination play. Really good effort by Lily to put herself into a position where the defenders really didn’t have much of an option other than to try and take her down. The other goal, Maddy set up after beating a defender to the end line and then playing a ball across the box that Lily was able to finish.”
–Momentum builder: “This was definitely a good team win for us as we look to make a push for a playoff position. The girls played a solid game defensively too and didn’t give up many chances. We are going to look to build on this and finish strong for the remainder of the season.”

Interboro 2, New Hope-Solebury 0
New Hope-Solebury had its chances, but could not capitalize in Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to nonleague opponent Interboro.
New Hope-Solebury coach Laura Motley “We kept possession for the majority of the game and were able to move the ball around nicely but we struggled to capitalize on our chances, which were many. Interboro had two great shots from around the 18-yard box that were fantastic shots and our keeper didn’t have much of a chance on either. Well-fought game for Interboro tonight.”
Props: “Ceci Capriotti had a great game. She led the determination on the field and created the majority of our chances. Devon McGuire, Mia Usatin, and Camryn Moran should also be mentioned for a well-fought game tonight.”
Next up: NH-S (1-11, 1-5 Freedom) will visit Upper Moreland at 3:30 pm Tuesday.
