UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 2 OT
Sizzy Lawton scored 39 seconds into overtime, handing Upper Dublin a win in the latest chapter of this backyard rivalry.
The goal was a bit of redemption for the sophomore striker, who saw two late opportunities in the second half stopped by Wissahickon keeper Nicole Hastings. In OT, Lawton's sister Paige got her free on a breakaway and the sophomore hit a volley off one touch.
"All I said to her is you have to wipe that out of your brain," UD coach John Topper said. "A good striker has a short memory. She certainly showed that she is a good striker, she was obviously not happy with herself because that was a big moment but the next one she put away and that's all you can ask for."
Wissahickon's Alexis Smith started the scoring at the 13:20 mark of the first half when she hit a Jasmine Bishop cross into the net. The Cardinals came back with two quick goals to take the lead. The first saw Sizzy Lawton play set-up, sending Paige Lawton in for a finish.
A few moments later, Lindsey Schreiber put the Cards on top when a corner kick got knocked out to her and she volleyed it back into the net.
Wissahickon knotted the score at 2-2 early in the second half when Emily Vervlied ripped a laser of a shot from outside the 18-yard box.
After that, Upper Dublin's defense was resolute. Topper noted the play of backs Shannon Haig, Erin O'Brien, Sascha Keitz and Katelyn King in front of keeper Devon Jones. Jones, who shut out league leader Quakertown on Wednesday, has been playing well as of late.
"It's a very tough position but now she's got a dozen games of varsity ball under her belt and every single game we're seeing the confidence increase," Topper said. "She's willing to talk and organize her backs, she's making little improvements every game and becoming a nice keeper. It's nice she's only a junior and we have her another year."
Jones and Hastings both played well with Jones stopping seven shots and Hastings repelling nine attempts on goal.
“Nicole Hastings had a stellar game with an unforgettable second-half diving save, fully extended to pull the ball back with her fingertips,” Trojan coach Shannon Franke said. “She kept her Trojans in the game with a flurry of brilliant saves denying UD the go-ahead goal in regular time.
“Credit to Upper Dublin for a well-fought match, and credit to Devon Jones, who also had a few great saves to keep the game level.”
The Trojans generated nine corner kicks and several other free kicks but couldn't convert the opportunities. Upper Dublin's defense was much the reason, able to clear the ball and block some shots.
Also, the Cardinals were able to hold Wissahickon senior Maddie Elwell without a goal, paying careful attention to where Elwell was on the field.
"Maddie Elwell is one of the best players we've seen in this league in a long time, and we wanted to make sure she wasn't getting anything easy," Topper said. "We had coverage and if she was going to beat us, it was going to be beating three or four players. Our girls, without man-marking her, did a good job of making that happen."
Upper Dublin (8-4-1, 6-3-1 SOL) will be on the road at Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday, and Wissahickon (7-3-1, 6-3-1) will travel to Hatboro-Horsham Monday.

QUAKERTOWN 0, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0 (2OT)
The Panthers played to their second scoreless draw of the week on Friday.
Quakertown was a bit unlucky on Friday, two days after being held without a goal at Upper Dublin.
"Upper Dublin defended us very well on Wednesday, today we got a bit unlucky," Panthers coach Mike Koch said. "We had one shot hit the crossbar, one ball hit both posts and did not go in and two potential PKs weren't called."
Koch also noted the play of Hatters keeper Miranda Royds. The senior proved why she's been one of the best keepers in the entire league with her effort on Friday.
"She wasn't super busy in terms of quantity of shots but the quality of her saves was very high," Hatters coach Ike Onyeador said. "She's a bit of a security blanket in net. You always expect your goalkeeper to make two or three quality saves to keep your team in the game and Miranda did that for us today; as she has for most of the season."
There's a difference between not finishing chances and not getting chances. Quakertown has had chances, the ball just hasn't gone its way this week. Koch said his message was pretty simple.
"Just to stay the course, we practice finishing every day and will continue to do so," Koch said. "We emphasize keeping our shape and not getting frustrated or vulnerable to counterattacks, we have good finishers. The goals will come."
Quakertown (9-0-3, 7-0-3 SOL) will host Cheltenham on Monday night, and Hatboro-Horsham (5-5-3, 5-2-3) will host Wissahickon.
QUAKERTOWN 0 0 0 0 – 0
HATBORO-HORSHAM 0 0 0 0 – 0
PLYMOUTH-WHITEMARSH 3, SPRINGFIELD 1
The Colonials controlled the game as they kept themselves right where they want to be.
P-W, which led 2-0 at the half, received goals from Alyse Caffery, Lauren Fortescue and Ragan Ebersole.
"It keeps us in the playoff hunt, which is what you want this late in the season," P-W coach Ryan Zehren said. "Even though they didn't show up in the stat sheet, junior Victoria Betterly and freshman Ani Shula had great games. Both had assists and Shula had one of her best games of the year."
Caffery's tally was her 12th of the season while the all-around efforts of Fortescue and Ebersole were rewarded with their goals.
"Lauren Fortescue was all over the field for us and ended up on the end of a nice goal," Zehren said. "As always, Ragan Ebersole had a dominant presence in the midfield."
Plymouth Whitemarsh (7-6, 6-4 SOL) will host Upper Dublin on Monday, and Springfield (2-9-1, 1-7-1) will travel to Upper Moreland Monday.
SPRINGFIELD 0 1 – 1
PLYMOUTH-WHITEMARSH 2 1 – 3
UPPER MORELAND 2, CHELTENHAM 1 (OT)
Upper Moreland gutted out an extra time win on Friday to wrap up a rough week.
Sydney Bachmayer keyed the effort for the Golden Bears with a pair of assists, the first coming at the 50:12 mark.
"The game was very competitive for both teams, a great match," Bears coach Lisa Benvenuto said. "Bears got on the scoreboard first. Sydney Bachmayer headed the ball to Maggie Finn, who was able to beat Cheltenham's goalie."
Ruby Tomasic knotted the game on a free kick at the 78:30 mark to bring up the extra session but with time winding down in the first overtime, Upper Moreland got the breakthrough.
"In the overtime both teams had chances, the Bears were able to get the win, as Sydney Bachmayer broke free and carried the ball down the left flank and found Sarah Veneziale at the far post," Benvenuto said.
Upper Moreland (3-8-2, 3-6-1 SOL) will host Springfield on Monday, and Cheltenham (0-10, 0-9) will be on the road at Quakertown.

CB SOUTH 2, CB WEST 1
The Titans bounced back from Wednesday's loss with a hard-fought win Friday.
Two goals late in the first half managed to hold up for the Titans, even as West cut the score in half midway through the second half. CB South was inspired all match and just needed some time to break down the Bucks' defense.
"There was a great deal of offensive pressure from our side with 12 shots on goal, but we didn't find the back of the net until the 36th minute," Titans coach Betsy Bullock said. "Courtney Taylor, one of our defenders who had pushed up, took a long shot. It was an own goal after deflecting off on one of their defenders."
South struck again just three minutes later.
"Aleksa Peev intercepted a throw in and scored unassisted," Bullock said. "We had a lot of offensive pressure, but West bunkered in defensively.
"It's always a competitive game with the sister schools."
Allison Logue scored a 60th minute goal for West off a corner kick with Sam Lubin getting the assist. However, CB South's defense held firm and got the team back on track with a win.
"I think the girls very badly wanted to win after the setback against Pennridge," Bullock said. "We went back to the style of play that we are most successful with, which is possession soccer and playing to feet."
Central Bucks South (11-2, 7-2 SOL) will host West Chester East in a non-league game Monday, and Central Bucks West (5-10, 0-9) will host Central Bucks East on Monday.
CB SOUTH 2 0 – 2

PENNRIDGE 1, CB EAST 0
A late goal gave the Rams another tight win on Friday afternoon.
Recently returned senior Katie Fischer provided the winner on a close-range finish in the 74th minute.
"Dani Meenan took a corner, the ball hit Rachel Velez and bounced around where Katie Fischer poked it in," Rams coach Audrey Anderson said.
Anderson felt it was another effort that involved the entire team.
"I thought our keepers and defenders did a great job winning the ball out of the air," Anderson said. "Our midfield did a good job connecting with the outside backs.
The road win kept the Rams atop the Continental standings.
"The crazy thing about this conference, every game is tough and prepares you for the postseason," Anderson said.
Pennridge (11-1-1, 7-1-1 SOL) will host Quakertown in a non-league game on Tuesday (7 p.m.), and Central Bucks East (6-6-1, 4-4-1) will travel to Central Bucks West on Monday.

Hannah Lambert made eight saves for the Knights while Lauriel Krouse had a big afternoon, stopping 15 North Penn shots in the Panthers' net.
“Kat Stevenson, Grace Sacchetti and Ava Lehrman all had complete games to help secure the win," Knights coach Jim Dehner said.

NESHAMINY 4, ABINGTON 2
Neshaminy overcame a slow start, scoring four times in the second half to erase a two-goal deficit.
The Galloping Ghosts, led by a goal and assist from Cam Lexow, took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Lexow scored 9:49 into the game, then set up Lindsey Baer with 31:10 gone by. Neshaminy got its mojo going after the break.
"Coming back from being down 2-0 to win the game was a total team effort," Neshaminy coach Chelsea Lovelace said. "It was good to see our girls dig deep and find the win."
Maggie Daeche got Neshaminy on the board off Brianna Tobin's corner at the 45:25 mark. Jackie Ziegler put away Kristen Curley's through ball at the 49:24 mark to tie the game.
"Once we pushed and got the first goal, we quickly pushed for the second and started to play our game," Lovelace said.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, BENSALEM 0
Midfield play keyed the Indians to a needed bounce-back win on Friday.
Abbey Koller, assisted by Sydney Allen, got North on the board fast, striking in the fourth minute. With the defense and keeper Carly Riggs on their game, it was the only goal North would need.
Despite that, the Indians added two more, with Meredith Hill assisting Emily Mackin's 46th minute tally and Kayla Robinson finishing off an assist from Kollar in the 69th minute.
Mackin was part of the midfield unit that impacted the game so much.
"The central midfield trio of Emily Mackin, Caitlin Duffy and Becca Margolis bounced back well," North coach Wendell Beres said. "We lost the CM battle Wednesday night (against CR South) and today was quite the opposite. I'm not sure any of them lost a single battle in the midfield."
Council Rock North (9-4, 5-4 SOL) will host Abington on Monday, and Bensalem (3-9-2, 2-7) will host Harry S Truman on Monday.
