Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ soccer teams in action Wednesday.

Council Rock South 3, Central Bucks South 1
The Golden Hawks finally got their season underway on Wednesday, although the last-gasp summer heat pushed it back a few more hours, and they did so jumping right into the mixer.
CR South faced a CB South team that had picked up two impressive wins on the opening weekend and was looking to keep up its production, playing its first home game of the fall.
CR South nabbed a first half lead and increased it to 2-0 early in the second half, only for the host Titans to quickly trim the lead to 2-1. The Hawks, who have an experienced roster headlined by quite a few seniors and juniors with multiple years as varsity contributors, added a goal and held their ground late.
SCORING SUMMARY
First half
CRS – Riley O’Halloran (Krissy Philip) 26:00 1-0
Second half
CRS – Teagan Shay (Juliette Salvi) 28:15 2-0
CBS Goal 2-1
CRS -Macy Laidlaw 15:00 3-1
Council Rock South coach Nick Heim on the win: “We knew they had two good results already on the season and were in form while we were waiting for our first game. We stressed handling early pressure and settling in sticking to our game plan. They have a lot of talent going forward and we stressed staying calm against the press and being efficient offensively. Overall, it was a very solid test early on that our girls responded to. Definitely the type of game the SOL always brings, especially in a crossover.”
–CR South’s first goal: “Krissy Philip did a great job of doing what we discussed, picking off a pass and starting a sequence switching play and back across the defense to Riley O’Halloran.”
–Going ahead 2-0: “Teagan Shay got on the end of a Juliette Salvi set piece. Juliette was fantastic with them all night and we finally capitalized.”
–Third goal and ending: “Macy Laidlaw gave us the insurance goal when she picked off a pass, using what we were able to discuss at halftime and took it in alone to make it 3-1 with 15 minutes left. We saw out a frantic ending with Ella Mayberry coming up big in spots for us in goal.”
–Standout efforts: “I thought Kate Deal and Kathryn O’Kane were fantastic tracking CB South’s midfield trio, and Maggie Kane and Fiona Reckner had some crucial break-ups in the back end that limited their chances on goal.”
Up next: Council Rock South (1-0) hosts William Tennent at 3:30pm on Thursday. CB South (2-1) hosts Villa Joseph Marie at 3:30pm on Friday.
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 2 – 3
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 1 – 1
Wissahickon 3, Springfield Twp 2
Two games into the season, the Trojans have faced two different tests and found a way through both. After a defensively-oriented game earlier in the week, Wissahickon found itself having to fend off a young Spartans team that’s starting to put its pieces together.
Lila Marciniak scored a pair of goals for Wissahickon, including the eventual game-winner in the second half while Emma Greenberg made it two goals in two games for Wiss, which got another strong effort in goal from Olivia Lore. The Spartans answered quickly after going down early and didn’t quit late, making the visiting Trojans work to the final whistle to earn the result.
SCORING SUMMARY
First half
W – Lila Marciniak (Baliey Cohen) 1-0
ST – Karly Hartman 1-1
Second half
W – Emma Greenberg 2-1
W – Lila Marciniak 3-1
ST – Julia Guicheteau 3-2
Wissahickon coach Chris McDaniels on the win: “We came out really strong but then I think kind of tailed off. I felt we could have built from that first goal, but we let them back in it quickly and it became a tough game, Springfield played really hard.”
Marciniak’s second goal: “Lila scored off a corner kick, she got on the end of a ball and hit a bullet into the top of the net. It was a really nice shot with a lot of power.”
Olivia Lore’s crucial late save: “We got caught on a ball at the back, gave the girl a breakaway with a couple minutes left where they could have tied it up. Olivia Lore came at the perfect time, just made herself big and had a beautiful kick save then jumped right on the ball to kind of save the result.”
Standout up top: “Emma Greenberg continues to be a real issue to deal with up top due to her strength and her size, plus the fact she’s as fast as can be. Whenever there’s a 50-50 ball, she’s on it a lot faster than most people may think she’s going to be on it, and it causes a lot of turnovers at the back. When she’s up front working hard for us, we muscle our way to goals.”
Up next: Wissahickon (2-0) hosts Methacton at 3pm on Friday. Springfield Twp (0-2) visits New Hope-Solebury at 3:30 pm on Sept. 4 to start SOL Freedom play.
WISSAHICKON 2 1 – 3
SPRINGFIELD TWP 1 1 – 2
Spring-Ford 2, North Penn 1
A second half goal by the visiting Rams spoiled the Knights’ second game under the lights this week. Maddy Murphy connected on a first-half goal from Katie Harkins to send the teams into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
“The girls played a strong game against a solid Spring-Ford team,” NP coach Mike Rio said. “I thought our team fought hard all night.
“Three games into the season I like why we are seeing from the players, and for a still very young team, we have shown a good ability to compete with some really strong opponents. We know it doesn’t get easier in our division as we prepare for league play next week, but we’ve taken a lot of positives out of these first three games.”
Up next: North Penn (1-2) visits Central Bucks West on Sept. 4 at 7pm to begin SOL Colonial play.
