Check out the recaps for SOL girls’ soccer teams in action Thursday.

Non-league
Central Bucks East 6, Abington 1
Two games, two hat tricks for Mia Forney.
The Patriots sophomore was nearly unstoppable in every facet offensively on Thursday, not only bagging three goals but also putting the helping touch on two others with a pair of assists. East’s offense has come out firing as a collective, the Patriots posting 12 goals in two outings, a sign the entire unit is working well off each other.
SCORING SUMMARY
CBE-Mia Forney 34:56 1st half
CBE-Jessie Bernabe (Mia Forney) 31:57 1st half
CBE-Mia Forney 10:21 remaining 1st half
CBE-Mia Forney (Cece Hayes) 8:25 1st half
CBE-Magee Williamson 15:49 2nd half
CBE-Kiera Sleicher (Mia Forney) 6:50 2nd half
A – Alexis Whaley (Katie Egan) 3:00 2nd half
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk on the win: “Bit of an up and down game for us. We had a choppy first half – (there were) periods I thought we looked good and then others where we just seemed a bit disorganized. The production we are getting going forward is really strong, and Mia just had another incredible start which makes the game easier for us.”
Adjusting at halftime: “I’m proud of how our kids made adjustments and ended up controlling the game a bit better in the second half. It’s early -we’re still learning and building, but the girls are deserving of the results this week.”
Standouts: “Credit to our midfield – Stella Genin, Ava Mignon, Jessie Bernabe, Cece Hayess and Kiera Sleicher for getting us going again in the second half. The effort and energy Magee Williamson brought into this game to keep momentum going through the second half and also getting her first goal on the year was huge.”
Up next: CB East (2-0) hosts Central Bucks South on Sept 4 at 7pm to open SOL Colonial play. Abington (1-2) hosts Hatboro-Horsham at 3:30pm on Sept 4 to begin SOL Liberty play.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 4 2 – 6
ABINGTON 0 1 – 1
Quakertown 2, Central Bucks West 1
It’s still the end of August, but it felt like a playoff game.
At least that’s how Panthers coach Jon Gingrich felt about Thursday’s game under the lights at War Memorial Field. He had good reason to feel that way, thanks to a dramatic winner by senior Millersville recruit Ashlyn Calabria with just seconds left on the clock.
The Panthers knew it would take a special effort to down the Bucks, and thanks to a collective effort, it’s what they got.
Scoring summary
Q – Anna Greenday 29:00 2nd half
CBW – 17:00 2nd half
Q – Ashlyn Calabria (Rachel McMonigle) 00:18 2nd half
Quakertown coach Jon Gingrich on the win: “Our defense and our holding midfield played an unbelievable game. We knew we had to match CB West’s physicality, and we couldn’t let them win possession. CB West was strong all game – they are coached well and they are deep on their bench. With the score 0-0 at halftime, we felt really good, and our confidence grew stronger and stronger as the game went on.”
Standout performers: “Senior center back Maddie Taylor, junior center back Anna Greenday, freshman Maya James and freshman Brielle Bailey held strong all night. Senior midfielder Taylor Kletzing and freshman Anna Gingrich disrupted CB West all night as well. Honestly, the entire team played amazing, and we are happy to get the win.”
The winning goal: “Rachel put a through ball into space, and Ashlyn beat the keeper to the ball and finished for a 2-1 lead and eventual win.”
Up next: Quakertown (2-0) visits Plymouth Whitemarsh at 3:30pm on Sept 4 to start SOL Liberty play. CB West (2-1) hosts North Penn at 7pm on Sept 4 for the SOL Colonial opener.
QUAKERTOWN 0 2 – 2
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 1 – 1
Plymouth Whitemarsh 4, Cheltenham 0
Through two games, the Colonials are showing the benefits of a collective effort.
PW has scored eight goals this season, getting assists on five of them including three of their four tallies on Thursday. It’s not just that the Colonials are setting each other up, it’s that they’re looking to even make an extra pass to get someone else a better shot.
Defensively, it’s been a group effort as well. Junior Olivia Bragg picked up her second clean sheet in as many tries, the team’s new-look back line giving her plenty of cover in front.
Scoring Summary
PW – Maddie McGuckien (Mia Baron) 35:00 1st half
Mia Baron (Keira Whelan) 33:00 1st half
Maddie McGuckien (PK), 25:00 2nd half
Liv Patete (Liv Reilly) 35:00 2nd half
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach TJ DeLucia on the win: “Strong team performance today against Cheltenham. We controlled possession, but Cheltenham played tough the entire game. Their goalkeeper was outstanding.”
Offensive standouts: “Maddie McGuckien continued her strong start to the season with two goals and she controlled play throughout the game. Junior Mia Baron was dangerous all game, so I was happy to see her get a goal and an assist. She’s been working really hard and really wants her work rate to start showing up on the stat sheet.”
Unselfish attackers: “Sophomore Liv Patete got her second goal in two games on a really unselfish play from senior captain midfielder, Liv Reilly. The play was started by freshman Harper Reilly who played her older sister through. We almost had a sister-to-sister goal, but Liv Reilly demonstrated why she is a captain along with senior defender Katie Lukens by making the unselfish pass.”
A 2-0 start: “Positive start to the season but league play awaits next week. We’re looking forward to the challenge.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh will host Quakertown on Wednesday, and Cheltenham will host Lower Moreland Wednesday.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 2 2 – 4
CHELTENHAM 0 0 – 0
Pennridge 4, Council Rock North 1
Last season’s SOL Colonial and SOL Patriot Division champions met in an early season crossover game Thursday.
Pennridge is just ramping up after starting its season earlier this week, but thanks to a hat trick from senior Caitlyn Peace, the Rams halted the Indians’ strong start to the fall. Peace, who has committed to High Point University, had a role in all four goals, adding an assist to Riley Williams on the team’s third tally.
The Rams’ defense was also up to task, limiting a CR North attack that had been averaging 2.6 goals per game.
Scoring summary
P – Caitlyn Peace (Riley Williams)

CRN
P – Riley Williams (Caitlyn Peace)
P – Caitlyn Peace (Emma Shaeffer)
Pennridge coach Audrey Anderson on Peace’s strong start: “Caitlyn is super focused and is enjoying the last couple months of her high school career. She’s been composed and comfortable in front of the goal. She’s not afraid to take players on and is also able to get really good crosses off. She helped us out a lot today defensively when we lost the ball.”
Defensive standout: “Gabby Herrmann was outstanding today in the back. She was able to win the 50/50 balls out of the air. That was important because if we let the ball bounce, Mia Cairone would be right there to take the ball away. Mia is a tremendous player, and I thought Gabby and Addy Mills were able to keep her in front of them for most of the game. Gabby was able to cover a lot of ground and help us out of tough situations.”
Up next: Pennridge (2-0) will visit Wilson at 6:30pm on Sept 3. CR North hosts Harry S Truman at 3:30pm on Sept 4 to start SOL Patriot play.
PENNRIDGE 2 2 – 4
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1 0 – 1
William Tennent 1, Council Rock South 0
Sometimes, it only takes one.
Earlier this week, the Panthers were on the wrong end of the one, losing a one-goal game against Wissahickon where the attack scuffled to generate quality chances. Thursday, facing a Golden Hawks team flying high off a solid season-opening win, it again came down to one opportunity.
A blast by Sofia Jakimoski in the second half put Tennent back on track.
Scoring Summary
WT – Sofia Jakimoski (Grace Bochnak) 24:48 2nd half
William Tennent coach Elisa Jara on the win: “We challenged the team at practice this week to see who would step up after a disappointing loss to Wissahickon. After today’s win, I would say they all accepted the challenge after a hard-fought win over a very tough CRS team.”
Standouts: “Aubrie Maldonado made several key saves and had an exceptional game in net. Lia Jablonowski and Sami Roby kept their attack in check, and both had strong games on defense. Paige Marek and goal scorer Sofia Jakimoski played well in the midfield and helped stave off a push from CRS in the last 15 of the game.”
Up next: William Tennent (2-1) hosts Upper Moreland at 3:30pm on Sept 4 to start SOL Freedom play. CR South (1-1) visits Pennsbury at 7pm on Sept 4 for the stat of SOL Patriot play.
WILLIAM TENNENT 0 1 – 1
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 0 – 0
Neshaminy 3, Villa Joseph Marie 1
This time next year, Kylie and Taylor Maxwell won’t be teammates.
The senior twins have committed to play at Wake Forest and Syracuse respectively, so this fall is truly their last go-around in the same uniform. No surprise, they’ve picked up where they left off as sophomores at Neshaminy by having an impact almost every time out.
The twins combined for all three goals Thursday as Neshaminy picked up a win over an always solid Jems program.
Scoring summary
N – Kylie Maxwell (Abby Collins) 34:18 1st half
VJM – 16:23 1st half
N – Taylor Maxwell 1:09 1st half
N – Kylie Maxwell 00:54 2nd half
Neshaminy coach Josh van Reed on the win: “Going into the game I knew Rich Finneyfrock was going to have his girls prepared to play. It was a tough, physical game overall and neither team was going to give in a bit. I was happy to get on the board early from a quick turn over, through ball from Abby Collins and goal from Kylie. Villa pushed hard and was rewarded with goal from a free kick that dropped in the box ,and they finished.”
Re-taking the lead: “The rest of the half we had a couple more chances, a goal called back and a couple more offside balls that were called back. So, we knew we were getting chances but couldn’t seem to finish one until Taylor Maxwell scored before half. She took a shot that rebounded off a defender and came right back to her and she followed it up with a bullet to put us up before half.”
Adjusting at the break: “Second half was about adjusting, keeping composure, and the girls did great about keeping calm when fouls starting coming. Again, we had some great chances, a couple close offsides and another goal called back, but Villa really was playing tight solid defense.”
Finishing strong: “Just before the end of the game Ava Hood slid a nice ball in through the defense and Kylie finished for the brace. It was a good win against a good team. Still have things to work on but there’s lots of positives too.”
Up next: Neshaminy (3-0) visits West Chester Rustin at 3:30pm on Friday.
NESHAMINY 2 1 – 3
VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 1 0 – 1
Pennsbury 2, Conwell-Egan 0
The Falcons had to postpone their game with their next-door neighbors from the PCL a day due to Wednesday’s high temperatures.
Instead of chalking it up as a lost day, they used the opportunity to come together as a group. Pennsbury spent Wednesday bonding as a team, then brought that continuity with them on Thursday. A second half breakthrough, with the team’s young core again playing a pivotal role on both ends of the pitch, lifted the Falcons to their third straight win.
Scoring summary
P – Corinne Russo (Willa Corbitt) 24:00 2nd half
P – Willa Corbitt (Ashlyn McEwing) 35:00 2nd half
Pennsbury coach Jenna Peters on the win: “Pennsbury girls soccer faced a challenging match against Conwell-Egan, starting with a slow first half. Our sophomore goalie Madison Ferroni, who has been stepping up tremendously, made several crucial saves to keep the score 0-0. During halftime, I had to make some adjustments to our play ,and we emphasized capitalizing on our opportunities and building stronger team play. The girls responded well, which led to a victory.”
First goal: “Freshman Willa Corbitt played a through ball to our junior Corinne Russo who ran onto it and beat the goalie to score.”
Second goal: “Junior captain Ashlyn McEwing played a through ball to freshman Willa Corbitt, who went in to score.”
Up next: Pennsbury (2-0-1) hosts Council Rock South at 7pm on Sept 4 to start SOL Patriot play.
PENNSBURY 0 2 – 2
