Taylor Roumy had herself a week.
The dynamic CB East senior, a Richmond recruit, echoed her performance in Tuesday’s win over CB West with another two-goal, one-assist effort Thursday afternoon against Souderton. It was a huge game for both sides to begin the second half of division play, with East’s narrow 1-0 win over Big Red earlier in the month the only
separation between them in the table at opening tap.
With Roumy punching in an early goal, the Patriots were able to play on the front foot but only held a 1-0 lead at half thanks to another strong effort in goal by Souderton’s Cam Lobel. Roumy would pick up her brace early in the second half before setting up Rylie Leedy for her first goal of the season as a key insurance tally that sent the Patriots six points clear in the standings.
Defensively, the Patriots notched a third straight shutout as first-year starting keeper Maddie Thompson added another clean sheet to her register.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBE – Taylor Roumy 9th
2nd Half
CBE – Taylor Roumy 46th
CBE – Rylie Leedy (Taylor Roumy) 59th
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk: “Proud of the result we picked up this game despite being a bit up and down for most of this match. Coming into this one, we knew Souderton had earned some really good results and I think our kids made the right adjustments in order to create a few more opportunities today than we did in our first go around.”
Standouts: “I thought we got a really well played match from Taylor and a few others going
forward like Quinn Reilly, Liz Mooney, and Rylie Leedy. Thrilled for Rylie to pick up her first goal of the year. We’ve tasked her with taking on a different role for us this year and she’s done a bunch of the little things right, so it was great to see her get on the end of a cross in this one. On the defensive side, I thought Cece Hayes, Ella Roumy, Addie Langlois, and Mattie Williams were critical for us today. Great to have our keeper Maddie Thompson pick up her ninth clean sheet on the year.”
Souderton coach Melissa Lollar: “Unfortunately, today was just not our best at any level of the field. Cam Lobel stepped up in big moments to prevent the game from being more lopsided, however, CB East was clearly the better team today. We were able to cause some pressure in the attack, but we simply could not execute anything to get any strong chances. I am confident that our girls will use it and rebound well. We look forward to the opportunity to learn from today, adjust, and press forward against Phoenixville tomorrow.”

Kaiya Adelman certainly left an impact at War Memorial Field on Thursday.
After netting a brace in the JV contest, providing all the scoring in a 2-0 win, the junior took up her spot on the varsity bench. It didn’t take too long for her number to get called and much like she did earlier in the evening, Adelman came through with all the scoring the Titans needed.
The narrow scoring margin was indicative of the level of play between both teams. While they were short of a goal on the final tally, the Bucks put a few legit scares into the Titans and saw players all across the pitch step up and put a stamp on the game.
Scoring Summary
1st half
CBS – Kaiya Adelman (Emily Franklin)
2nd Half
No scoring
CB South coach Dana Cole: “Kaiya Adelman came off the bench and scored our only goal, assisted by Emily Franklin. She scored two goals in the JV game to give them a 2-0 win and then made it an overall personal hat trick to score the only three goals of the evening for either team. Her goals were all blasts to the net, giving the keepers no shot at stopping them.”
Split shutout: “Morgan Sowash and Siena Carone split the shutout. Siena made a stop in the upper corner in the last minute of the game, which was the save of her career so far, to help secure the win. Ella Parish played her heart out in the back and led our defense tonight with her amazing efforts.”
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “I thought Sophie Borgmann gave us a lot of really positive energy tonight and helped us stay consistent throughout the game. Whether it was tracking back to make sure we had coverage at the top of the 18 to deny shots, or getting forward in transition, connecting passes in their half and helping us work the ball wide to create crosses and services into the box, she did a little bit of everything. She did a great job of keeping us steady, and that was something we really needed from her tonight.”
Flankers flourish: “Abby Denicore brought incredible energy as an outside back. She did a fantastic job shutting down some really talented wide players from South. She was aggressive and had a perfectly timed slide tackle to stop a 1v1 in the box. When she won the ball, she looked to keep it, which was something we specifically asked of the group today. She just brought that West energy to the field all night. I thought Stella Wierzbowski did the same thing on the opposite side and did a really good job denying turns and making things difficult for South’s wide players.”
Senior standout: “Kacey Sohanic probably had our best individual play of the game. With about a minute left, she drove forward out of the back line, beat three or four players, fought through contact and ripped a shot that the keeper just got a touch on before it hit the bar. It was a fantastic individual effort and almost got us level late.”
Props: “Our freshmen also did a really great job stepping up in a tough game. Ella Barrett was all over the field and gave us incredible energy. Ellen Gorman did a good job up top keeping the ball and trying to connect passes, and Sienna Teufel did a nice job playing with her back to goal and finding her underneath options when she came in. Obviously, we would have liked a different result, but I’m really proud of the effort and the progress we’re making. I’m excited about where this group can continue to go.”
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 0 – 1
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 0 – 0
Pennridge 3, North Penn 2
The Rams got back in the win column, snapping a rare three-match losing streak, but it didn’t come easily against the Knights.
Pennridge, which held its annual Pink Out game, got a pair of goals from senior captain Natalie Walter – a tough defender bound for Bloomsburg – on her trademark set piece headers and the other from Kylie Manville, who has stepped up as a consistent attacking presence, on a direct free kick rocket. Manville also had the assist on the game winner, a crucial play to help offset a great game from North Penn’s Xienna Bachmann, who had a brace of her own.
Much like their first meeting, also a 3-2 Rams win, the pace was high and chances were plentiful for both teams. Thankfully for the hosts, goalkeeper Liv Buckman was dialed in, the senior – who played as a reserve forward last year – stopping a penalty kick and making a few more highlight reel stops to ensure her team got the three points and more importantly, stopped their losing streak.
Scoring Summary
1st half
P – Natalie Walter (Mikayla Loux)
NP – Xienna Bachmann
2nd half
P – Kylie Manville
NP – Xienna Bachmann (Annaliese Marnien)
P – Natalie Walter (Kylie Manville)
Pennridge coach Lucas Kriner: “Props to Natalie for the double on the night. Those goals lifted us. Glad to have both Kylie score and later assist Nat on the go-ahead goal. Great contributions from them showing quality in restart moments.”
Props: “I thought the midfield did a nice job of staying organized in key moments anchored by Kendra, G, Kylie and Voytko. We had specific instructions that we worked on this week that they all executed really well. Very important saves from Bucky, including a PK stop that did a lot to recapture momentum. Overall, an important three points for us as we wrap up the first leg of league play and transition to crossovers.”
North Penn coach Mike Rio: “Xienna Bachmann scored twice, one after Lani and Annaliese hit the post on back-to-back shots and she put in the third attempt. The second goal was a great through pass from Annaliese that Xienna finished. Their goalie made a couple of fantastic saves as well that would probably have beaten most keepers and saved a PK. I thought she was really great for them tonight. Thought we played a great game and controlled a lot of the time of possession and attack, but Pennridge is just really well disciplined, and when they get their chances they finish them.”
Takeaways: “It was just heck of a game by both teams and it hurts to come out on the short end of it but I’m really proud of how our team battled. We did a great job limiting chances in the run of play but Pennridge was able to convert a beautifully struck free kick and two fantastic headers off of corners.”

Upper Dublin 5, Quakertown 1
UD had a winning streak on the line, but there was even more at stake in Thursday’s home matchup with the Panthers.
Quakertown entered the day just two points off the lead in the SOL Liberty table, so if the Panthers were able to snap the Cardinals’ run of wins, they would have left the day in first place. The Panthers brought that energy down 309 with them, capturing an early lead and challenging the hosts to try and answer back.
Senior Bridget DiMartile had that answer, the three-sport standout netting a first half brace that turned the tables and led to a decisive 40 minutes after halftime.
Violet Sawka, who assisted the game-winner, added the first goal of her varsity career to help extend the Cardinals’ win streak to six straight.

Upper Dublin coach Darius Gbunblee: “Good win by the girls tonight. Quakertown came out strong and took an early lead off a corner, but we kept pushing and responded with two goals from Bridget DiMartile to finish the first half with the lead. In the second half, we were able to settle in and find our footing, and the offense really started to click, leading to another three goals. Overall, I thought this was our best offensive performance as a team so far this year. A special shout-out to Violet Sawka on scoring her first varsity goal. Great job by the entire team tonight.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh 2, Hatboro-Horsham 1
The Colonials had gotten tired of ties.
PW had played to a draw in its last four fixtures, three of them scoreless, so the team’s focus and efforts have been largely devoted to production around the offensive end. It wasn’t for lack of trying and sometimes teams just hit slumps, but the Colonials knew they needed to start putting some balls in the back of the net if they wanted to start the second half of divisional play on the right note.
The Hatters didn’t make it easy, rallying back to level the score 1-1 midway through the second half, but PW got a big lift from its trio of co-captains to break its streak of draws and put one back in the win column.

PW – Molly McEvoy (Maddi Lazaroff) 21:33
2nd Half
HH – Lexi Cohen (Payton Skutches) 22:05
HH – Liv Patete (Maddi Lazaroff) 19:44
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach TJ DeLucia: “I think everyone was relieved to score a couple goals tonight. We spent a lot of time (Wednesday) at practice on finishing, and our three captains got it done today. Sophomore Molly McEvoy scored the first and after Hatboro tied it in the second, senior Liv Patete answered right back less than two minutes later. Senior Maddi Lazaroff had both assists.”
Props: “Outstanding effort all around. Keeper Jules Rex had a big save. Junior Sarai Salmons in her first start was outstanding defensively, along with Bella Zeoli and JJ Lafferty. Hatboro’s front line is speedy and dangerous so credit to all who played – it was a team effort.”
Hatboro-Horsham coach Nick Bellizzie: “Abby Marino and Gabby Colletto each had a strong defensive game for HH.”

Abington 2, Wissahickon 1
After a rough start to the season, the Ghosts have seemingly found some footing.
Thanks to a pair of first half goals, Abington was able to avenge a loss to Wissahickon from earlier in the month and pick up its first SOL Liberty win of the fall. The victory made it two wins in the last four fixtures, with the Ghosts pulling a result in a draw with Plymouth Whitemarsh in that span after dropping their first four games.
Freshman Sam Waterfall came up big late to pick up her second win in goal of the season.
Scoring Summary

Abington coach Rick Tompkins: “Lia D’Arcangelo opened the scoring with a long shot from the right flank. Addy Doyle crushed a ball from distance for the second goal to make it 2-0 at halftime. Wissahickon tallied with about 12 minutes to play, and we hung on against their pressure. Sam Waterfall made a very good save right at the end of the game to preserve the win.”

William Tennent 7, Springfield Twp. 2
Senior Night games are unpredictable.
Sometimes, teams celebrating the night come out over-energized, out or sorts or a little emotionally charged and start slow. William Tennent’s start on Thursday was certainly the latter, the Panthers falling behind by two goals early as the Spartans tried to make a season sweep and get a leg up in the division race.
Then, the Tennent seniors absolutely locked in and led a remarkable turnaround. The Panthers scored a staggering seven unanswered goals – five of them scored by seniors – to flip the script and end the night with a celebration along with a tie atop the division standings.
Seniors Grace Bochnak and Lia Jablonowski each scored twice, as did sophomore Kaitlyn D’Ambra while senior Bailey Kasner scored and assisted on a goal as part of the comeback. Tennent scored its first goal midway through the opening half and had a 4-2 halftime lead before putting things away in the second half.

Mia Rahn, Sami Roby, Margo Vant Hoenderdaal, Grace Bochnak, Lia Jablonowski, Olivia Jakimoski, Leila Santos and Bailey Kasner put on an inspiring performance tonight. We were down 2-0 to a talented Springfield team that had beaten us earlier in the season. We knew the mistakes we made the first time and made some adjustments going into this matchup. To come back and score 7 unanswered goals shows the determination and grit of this team.”

Lower Moreland 6, New Hope-Solebury 0
Coming off their first loss of the season, Lower Moreland rebounded with a solid team performance to start the second half of their division slate.
The win keeps LM even with William Tennent atop the division but first had to take care of business against a New Hope-Solebury team that always comes ready to play. Senior Jordyn Fox, a defender by trade, brought some offensive punch to the day by assisting senior Shannon Mahon’s early goal before adding one of her own before halftime. Izzy O’Brien tallied two assists while freshman Arlee Kerrigan also had a productive day by scoring and assisting a goal.

Props: “I thought sophomore defender Camlin Cowley, junior midfielder Gabbie Sellecchia, sophomore midfielder Ella Fey and senior defender Jordyn Fox did a good job spreading out the field and requiring a lot from New Hope’s attack. And freshman attacker Arlee Kerrigan put a lot of pressure on their defense and created a lot of offense for us throughout.”

Council Rock South 2, Council Rock North 0
Just five days after their first meeting ended with a scoreless draw, the crosstown rivals met again with a first-place spot in the division at stake.
This time, there was some offense to be found, and it was the Golden Hawks taking charge of the table. A brilliant goal by Brooke Pavlow, who bent in a corner kick directly for an Olimpico, gave CR South a lead at the half.
Council Rock North, which lost for the first time this fall, came back with plenty of energy. The Indians have gotten some exceptional play from their front line all season, so CR South had its hands full trying to keep the North attack in check.
Lylah Day, who has been a clutch force in attack for the Hawks, would add on an important tally in the second half to help secure a Unity Cup win for CR South.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CRS – Brooke Pavlow
2nd Half
CRS – Lylah Day (Claire Vizza)
CR South coach Nick Heim: “It was the second meeting in five days between sister schools, certainly not ideal in a rivalry game as intense as this. The night game also featured the 25th rendition of the Unity Cup – a trophy awarded to the winner of the second game between the two. (When the schools split in 2002, they were in separate conferences and only played each other once).”
Cup history: “It has historically been a battle, with the previous 24 renditions seeing 12 South wins, 10 North wins, and 2 draws. The only nice thing about playing with such a short turnaround is any scout or game plan is fresh in our heads. Both teams had chances in the 0-0 draw Saturday, so we knew it would be another battle.”
First half forays: “I thought both teams were executing well early in the game, exchanging strings of possession and being creative, but limited chances on goal in the opening 20 or so. We were able to strike first when Brooke Pavlow put in an Olimpico that got us on the board to give us a 1-0 halftime lead.”
Second Half: “At half we stressed sticking to the game plan and keeping our heads through adversity since North would surely respond. They did just that, having the better of play in the opening parts of the second half. On the sidelines, we were debating formation changes and personnel swaps, but eventually, we settled back in. With a few under 20 remaining, we were able to gain possession in the midfield and find Claire Vizza. Vizza made a great cut inside and slipped Lylah Day into the box, and Day was able to extend our lead to 2-0.”
Ball Hawks defense: “North continued to fight but ultimately our defense, led by Krissy Philip, Lianna Shikhvarger, Maddie Mohr, Kate Hickey, and Carly Conetta closed out the clean sheet in front of Maddie Hyams. We got great effort throughout- Ruby Bross was terrific going up against Isabella Diaz, who is a handful in her own right. Anna Horn created well for us, and our forward rotation that included Guilianna Conetta and Riley O’Halloran executed our game plan well. It’s a good win against a very dangerous team. Gavin (Flannigan) always had them organized, and they are strong in possession and players like Sarina Igval can take a counterattack against multiple defenders herself.”
Moving forward: “We hit crossovers now so it will be exciting to see some teams we haven’t played in quite a few years.”

Bensalem 2, Harry S Truman 1
The Owls soared to their first win of the season in a back-and-forth game with the Tigers.
Bensalem, which has been better than some of its scores might indicate, showed plenty of grit and tenacity in scoring its goals. The Tigers showed an equal amount of the same in battling back to halve the lead and still had a few late opportunities to try and salvage a point.
There were plenty of standouts on both sides and while the teams won’t meet again this fall, their series ends with a 3-3 aggregate in scoring showing just how closely matched they were.
Scoring Summary

B – Adrianna Posten (Kylie O’Neil)
B – Kylie O’Neil (Maggie Robson)
HST – Harley Palencik (Brennan Gilbert, Lily Hadfield)
Bensalem coach Kathleen Rivera: “Over the last couple of games ,there’s been glimpses of the team we knew we can be, and tonight that team showed up. The score lines of those past games didn’t match our team’s effort and intensity. Even today, we must’ve had at least 15 shots on net and only two found the back of it. Today’s win was proof to the girls that they can do it.”
Fighting for the finish: “The two goals might not have been the best-looking goals, but they were gritty goals. Our first goal was scored by Adrianna Posten, following a cross from Kylie O’Neil that was bobbled around. Our second goal was scored by Kylie O’Neil from another bobbled cross from Maggie Robson. Truman didn’t make it easy for us. It’s been great seeing the growth Truman’s program had over the last four years. We have to hand it to Coach Brian and his team.”
Props: “Everyone played great, from our back four Tessa Raymond, Aubrey Quinlan, Chloe Brophy, and Kaelyn Erb, to our midfielders Kerry Castro and Peyton D’Andrea. Even freshman Madison Robison and Arianna Saunders who came on and got varsity minutes played great.”
Harry S Truman coach Brian Gilbert: “I’m proud of the girls’ effort today. We knew getting the first goal would be huge. Bensalem scored first, then went up 2-0. With 15 minutes left, our leading scorer got knocked out of the game with an injury. But the girls never gave up, kept grinding it out, scored a late goal and despite the loss, still came off the field with pride. Last year we dropped games against Bensalem 4-1 and 7-0. To come out and win a game at home and play another tight one-goal game on the road, the team’s progression is starting to show not just on the field, but also on the scoreboard. Over the home and home series, Truman held Bensalem scoreless for three straight halves, but it wasn’t for a lack of shots. Truman keeper Dani Gilbert made 13 first half saves before conceding a goal about 16 minutes into the second half. On the play, Gilbert made the initial save off of a hard low shot and appeared to have both hands on the rebound, however the ref deemed that she did not maintain full possession, and the Bensalem forward followed the shot and was able to jar the ball loose and come up with the big and much needed first goal of the game. On the second Bensalem goal, there was a hard shot that Truman defender Natalie Klimowicz blocked, however the rebound came right back to the shooter. The Truman keeper was off balance, having moved to her right to block the initial shot. The Bensalem forward struck the shot hard enough to the keeper’s left that despite getting a glove on it, the ball still found the back of the net.”
Working for a rally: “Truman battled back, generating multiple scoring chances in the last 10 minutes and were able to pull within a goal and a big goal by sophomore fullback Harley Palencik. Freshman Brennan Gilbert lofted a great kick into the center of the box. Fellow freshman, Lily Hadfield won the ball out of the air, however it caromed backwards. Left fullback Harley Palencik timed her run from the top of the 18 and blasted a one timer into the back of the net. Both teams battled back and forth to the final whistle with Bensalem prevailing with the 2-1 win.”
Coach’s take: “The home and home series between Truman and Bensalem reminds me of an NHL playoff hockey series: Fun to watch and you’re gonna need a few ice packs. We knew Bensalem was going to come out firing and that this was going to be a tight and physical game and they didn’t disappoint on either end. They really fought hard to get their goals.”
Tigers props: “Our keeper made a lot of great saves, but our defensive combination of juniors Natalie Klimowicz, Gwen Marston, and Bella Romer alongside sophomore Harley Palencik also blocked a lot of shots today. After a few late injuries, seniors Monica Almanza and Julianna Romer had to step in and fill the defensive void and were able to keep Bensalem off the board to give Truman the opportunity to mount a comeback. Jack of all trades, freshman Payton Morris played forward, midfield and fullback and senior Lila Giuntas, less than a year removed from a torn ACL, played her most physical and defensive game of the season at center mid, blocking many shots and putting her body on the line. Outside midfielders Madison Egan and Hadley Rizzo moved the ball well down the sidelines. We had a lot of good chances, but none better than a play freshman Brennan Gilbert made. Using her speed, she beat the defender down the left sideline, dribbling the ball from 50 to inside the 18. She cut in from left to right and ripped a shot that looked like a sure upper corner goal, however the ball struck the point where the crossbar meets the goal post and it took a weird bounce away from the attacker following the shot.”
