Non-league crossover
Neshaminy 5, William Tennent 2
A little rain during the day wasn’t going to dampen Neshaminy’s Senior Night.
The seniors, many of them key contributors two years ago on a District 1 4A championship and PIAA 4A semifinalist team, fittingly led the way on Wednesday. Kylie Maxwell did Kylie Maxwell things, the senior bound for Wake Forest netting a first half hat trick, then adding a second-half helper to her twin sister Taylor, the Syracuse-bound senior netting two after the break.
Seniors Abby Collins and Allie Ortman combined for three assists.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
N – Kylie Maxwell 25:51
N – Kylie Maxwell (Allie Ortman) 21:31
WT – Grace Bochnak 16:27
N – Kylie Maxwell (Abby Collins) 10:19
2nd Half
WT – Lia Jablonowski (Paige Marek) 38:17
N -Taylor Maxwell (Kylie Maxwell) 32:22
N – Taylor Maxwell (Abby Collins) 31:53
Neshaminy coach Josh van Reed on the win: “Going into the game, we knew we had to take advantage of opportunities when they come. Tennent was coming off a close game with Pennridge and crossover games are always tough. Tonight was also our senior night, and the support from the crowd we had was amazing. Right from the start, the girls were all ready to play.”
–Early offense: “We had some good scoring opportunities, but Tennent was holding tight. Fifteen minutes in, Kylie collected a ball and broke for the goal, beat two girls and hammered home the goal. A couple minutes later, Allie Ortman cut inside and hit a real nice ball on frame that the keeper made a great save on but could only knock it down and Kylie was there for the putback to make it 2-0. Tennent kept working hard and got a goal back with 16 minutes left in the half. But our girls came right back and got one back before half when Abby slid a ball through to Kylie, who turned and quickly made it 3-1 going into half.”
–Second half offense: “The second half Tennent was on the front foot and took a nice shot that tucked in under the bar to make it 3-2. Again, the girls came right back, and this time Taylor responded with two goals. The first was a ball played off from Kylie, and Taylor made sure she wasn’t going to miss. The second was a cross from the right side from Abby from way out that Taylor hit hard and low to get under the keeper, a really good-looking, nice pass and well-timed strike.”
–Senior standouts: “Tonight I was so happy with everyone’s performance especially our seniors, Keira Siwinski, Allie Ortman, Abby Collins, Kylie Maxwell, Taylor Maxwell, Natalie Cimochowski, Emma Murphy and Mia Ocasio, who have given so much of their time and energy to continue to make the program what it is.”
William Tennent coach Elise Jara on the match: “Looking at our schedule in the beginning of the season, we knew this would be a tough week with two formidable opponents. I am very proud of the way the team competed this week. They never gave up and gave it their all until the end of the game. Our back line had their hands full with the twins all night long. We had some chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net. This was a good test for us mid-season.”
Up next: William Tennent resumes SOL Freedom play at Upper Moreland on Oct. 1. Neshaminy hosts Bensalem at 3:30 on Friday to resume SOL Patriot play.

Pennridge 4, Abington 0
The Rams bolted to a fast start thanks to three first half goals, two of them coming off the foot of High Point-bound senior Caitlyn Peace after an opener scored by Richmond-bound senior Jessie Moylan.
Pennridge’s 10th win of the season was also its sixth in a row. Addy Mills, Kaylie Thran and Gabby Herrmann added first half assists while Emma Shaeffer wrapped up the scoring with a solo effort after halftime.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
P – Jessie Moylan (Addy Millls)
P – Caitlyn Peace (Kaylie Thran)
P – Caitlyn Peace (Gabby Herrmann)
2nd Half
P – Emma Shaeffer
Pennridge coach Audrey Anderson on the win: “I thought we played well tonight. We were dangerous in the attack. Caitlyn Peace had two goals and kept putting their backs under pressure. Her second goal was a hard-earned goal, she put the keeper under pressure, the keeper went to clear the ball and Caitlyn took the ball off herself and ran the ball into the goal. Emma Shaeffer and Kaylie Thran were also very dangerous in the attack.”
–Standouts: “Riley Williams and Madalyn Buchanan did a really good job of distributing the ball to our wide players. Jessie Moylan started us off with a goal off a corner that was bouncing around in the box. Aside from her goal, she was incredible in the air again tonight.”
Defensive effort: “Our backs came up big tonight, didn’t give Abington many opportunities at goal. Our goal was to keep the shutout, we were able to stay focused and not give up too many set pieces in our half. Addy Mills, Gabby Herrmann, Avery Runk, Natalie Walter, and Mia Pultorak were really good in the back against their attacking players.”
Up next: Pennridge visits Souderton at 6:30 pm on Friday to resume SOL Colonial play. Abington visits Hatboro-Horsham at 3:45 on Friday to resume SOL Liberty play.

After a quick start to Wednesday’s crossover tilt, the Patriots’ attack stalled for about 20 minutes. Then sophomore Taylor Roumy found her stride, and East was on its way to its second win of the week.
Roumy, a fixture in the starting lineup along with her twin sister Ella, netted a goal on each side of halftime and added an assist to senior Stella Genin to repay an earlier assist on her first goal.
Magee Williamson added a goal and an assist after halftime for East, which secured its 11th win and heads back into SOL Colonial play with a one-game lead in the table.
Scoring Summary

CBE – Madelyn Hill (Mia Forney) 35:55
CBE – Taylor Roumy (Stella Genin) 13:25

2nd Half
CBE – Taylor Roumy (Jessie Bernabe) 36:51
CBE – Addie Langlois (Magee Williamson) 8:04 remaining
CBE – Magee Williamson (Jessie Bernabe) 2:12 remaining
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk: “Great team effort today. Happy with how we played in our second half after a bit of a stop and start first 40 minutes and for keeping a clean sheet. Madelyn Hill got us started early with finishing off a rebound from a shot from Mia which is something we preach heavily. From there, we just weren’t sharp enough in the final third to create solid chances, and in the last 15 minutes, we found ourselves moving the ball a bit better, and Taylor Roumy and Stella finished off two really well-worked opportunities.”
Standouts: “I thought Cece Hayes gave us a great game today next to Ava Mignon which made that second half easier for us. To close out that game, just thrilled to see Addie Langlois and Magee get on the score sheet.”
Up next: CB East visits Central Bucks South at 7pm on Friday to resume SOL Colonial play. Hatboro-Horsham hosts Abington at 3:45 on Friday to resume SOL Liberty play.

BENSALEM – 2
SPRINGFIELD TWP – 1

Central Bucks South 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0
The Titans back line has been locked in this week.
South’s defensive unit hasn’t allowed a goal in 160 minutes of play in its two wins, but that didn’t mean it was easy going against the Colonials on Wednesday. PW’s defensive group was equally keyed in, playing the first half to a scoreless draw, and it took a special effort from Kelly Donnelly to finally put one away.
South’s fourth win in a row sends it back into SOL Colonial play on a roll, hosting division leader CB East on Friday night.
Scoring Summary
2nd Half
CBS – Kelly Donnelly (Olivia Wade) 33:47
CBS – Camilla Wright (Olivia Daniele) 13:47
CB South coach Pat Lordi: “Unlike Monday’s game, goals were a little difficult to come by in the first half. The second half was different thanks to Kelly Donnelly, who hit a great ball far post that beat the goalkeeper of PW. It was the first goal of the game and came at a perfect time. Oliva Wade picked up her third assist in two games. Camilla Wright scored the second off a corner kick. She fought for a ball that was bouncing around in the box.”
Defensive standouts: “Props to the defenders again for a great defensive effort. Tenley Rogers, Monika Daly, Delaney Roe and Grace Keane were outstanding, limiting the shots on goal to only one. Brooke Rosica and Morgan Sowash combined for the shutout in goal.”
Props: “The midfield and forwards generated the attack mentality all over the field today. One-touch passing allowed us to move the ball well and change the point of attack. Olivia Wade, Kelly Donnelly, Morgan Hughes, Olivia Daniele, Payton Mum and Hayden McGovern worked really hard up and down the field. The had some fast defenders that challenged us today. We responded and competed extremely hard for the majority of the game.”
Up next: CB South hosts Central Bucks East at 7pm on Friday to resume SOL Colonial play. PW visits Quakertown at 3:30 on Friday to resume SOL Liberty play.

Central Bucks West 2, Wissahickon 0
CB West junior Emery Sterling always brings max effort to the pitch, and the recent NJIT commit put it to good work as part of a fast start on Wednesday.
The Bucks won all three of their crossover games, collecting shutouts in the last two as they round back into SOL Colonial play to end the week.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBW – Emery Sterling (Reegan Moran)
CBW – Emery Sterling (Eva Wierzbowski)
CB West coach Bree Benedict on the win: “The girls did a great job of starting strong today. I felt we moved the ball really well. We created a lot of opportunities through our midfield play of Maura Duffy, Eva Wierzbowski, and Mackenzie Gausch. Mackenzie had a big day in the air for us too, winning punts and 50/50 balls with her head. Emery Sterling scored both of our goals in the first ten minutes, her finishes were really clinical today.”
Bucks senior captain Eva Wierzbowski: “In the first half, I thought we did a great job, winning every 50/50 ball and going forward every play. I think our attacking mindset today helped us score our goals early, and to not let up any goals is a great improvement with our team”
Bucks junior Emery Sterling “It was great to be able to help the team get on the board early! On the first goal Reegan Moran had a great throw-in that allowed me to turn and volley it. The second goal was from a great through ball from Eva Wierzbowski. I was able to find her out of the air, and she set me up perfectly to place the ball. It was a real team effort out of the gate starting off strong and I just was able to put them away.”
Up next: CB West visits North Penn at 3:30 on Friday to resume SOL Patriot play. Wissahickon hosts Upper Dublin at 3:30 on Friday to resume SOL Liberty play.

Council Rock North 4, Lower Moreland 0
The Indians’ 10 seniors got a chance to celebrate their Senior Night with a victory.
A first half brace by junior Audrey Rogan broke open a close game, the hosts then sparked by Bella Lanza in the second half. Lanza assisted senior Mia Cairone’s goal, then added one herself finishing off a corner kick by Addison Martin to cap the scoring
The win was CR North’s 10th of the season, which gave the senior class an impressive milestone as they look to secure another down the stretch going through the division again.
Lower Moreland faced some tough challenges in its crossover slate, but the Lions return to SOL Freedom play with some good experience and a lead in the division.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CRN – Audrey Rogan
CRN – Audrey Rogan
2nd Half
CRN – Mia Cairone (Bella Lanza)
CRN – Bella Lanza (Addison Martin)
CR North coach Gavin Flannigan: “A really solid result against a good in form LM team. Tonight was our senior night, and we are delighted that we could celebrate with them with the performance and result that we had.
“We have 10 seniors that have all played in the program for all four years: Abby Steadman, Audrey Thomson, Amanda Gardner, Eliza Schaal, Olivia Ralston, Mia Cairone, Sydney Linus, Sara Tyler, Tavi Copestick and Zoey Passanante.”
Senior salute: “Tonight’s win means that they have achieved double-digit victories in all four years as well as the playoffs every season so far. More importantly, the girls have shown great teamwork throughout their time and a willingness to be unselfish for the benefit of the team. Their actions, hard work and leadership skills have impacted the players behind them, and it was very noticeable tonight how badly our group wanted to win for them. They are highly respected and liked by their peers and it was great to see everyone’s enjoyment this evening.”
Rogan’s first half offense: “Having so many seniors could have lead to a slow start tonight, but we came out quickly and Mia Cairone was unlucky to hit the crossbar in the first few minutes, soon after LM had a great opportunity too but couldn’t quite take advantage. We began to settle down and create more moments, but it took us a while until finally Audrey Rogan was able to combine into a breakaway and finish well. That seemed to take a little of the pressure off, and we added a second soon after when Mia went through on goal and a clearance fell to Audrey Rogan again, she was able to compose herself and finish from 25 yards.”
Finishing strong: “We’ve been struggling a little to close out games when we have a lead and at half time we stressed the need to do that, and early in the second half we really started to play well. We added two quick goals in three minutes when Bella Lanza crossed for Mia Cairone to finish and then Lanza scored off a great corner kick from Addison Martin.
“Tonight was all about our seniors and they performed very well. In goal Reese Ludwig and Ellie Beldowicz were able to combine to keep the clean sheet too.”
LM coach Todd Hill: “Another tough crossover loss to Council Rock tonight. They are a talented team with a lot of depth. Our girls fought really hard but ran out of steam along the way. Another standout performance for center back Agnes Kroll and attacker Shannon Mahon was putting a lot of pressure on CR’s back line before leaving the game with an injury.
“We are looking forward to learning from this week’s games and growing as a team from the adversity. When given the option of canceling practice tomorrow, the girls were unanimous that they want to get back out on the pitch to keep improving. I believe the best is yet to come.”

Council Rock South 2, Upper Moreland 0
The Golden Hawks have been met with a couple outstanding opposing goalkeeping performances this week, but have been able to find a way to the result both times.
Wednesday, it was Upper Moreland’s Gracie Costello – who made 15 stops – turning away look after look, but CR South kept its composure and managed a goal on each side of the break to head back to SOL Patriot play on a two-match winning streak
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CRS – Kate Deal (PK) 27′
2nd Half
CRS – Gianna Kirllin 51′
CR South coach Nick Heim: “We stressed our quality of crosses at practice yesterday, and we were dangerous in them all day. Hats off to their goalie- she was tremendous with an easy double-digit save performance. We took a 1-0 halftime lead on a Kate Deal kick from the spot. We stressed putting the game away at half, and ten minutes into the second half, Gianna Kirlin had a tidy finish past the incoming keeper. We were very pleased with our depth today and got some excellent minutes from everyone in the roster. We head into a tough stretch coming up so pleased to be able to go deep in the rotation today. Ella Mayberry with back-to-back shutouts.”
Props: “Macy Laidlaw was dangerous today- we’ve been working at practice on how minor changes to her game can make a big difference, and I think it’s starting to show. She’s gaining confidence at the right time and can be one of the most dangerous players in the league with her skill set.”
Upper Moreland coach Lisa Benvenuto: “The crossover games have been a grind for us. We knew that this week was going to be tough, and I am really proud of how our girls continue to show up for each other. We played defensively today and really never got into an offensive flow. Stefanie Jones played great for us in the middle of the field, holding the center and generating ball movement. Gracie Costello had another great game, tallying 15 saves.”

Pennsbury coach Jenna Peters: “It was a great team win. The girls had high energy from the start. We talked about being creative and keeping the ball on the ground. We always set three goals before every half, and both halves they achieved their goals. It was a true team win and I am happy the girls rallied together and played for each other.”
New Hope-Solebury coach Laura Motley: “We got outplayed tonight, Pennsbury fought hard and were able to capitalize on the majority of their chances. Our back line fought hard, but we were unable to get any momentum moving forward. Hayden Tumminello, and Rebecca Peterson both had great games tonight.”

North Penn 4, Quakertown 1
Crossover play certainly gave the Knights a jolt, North Penn sweeping through the three games with three wins and a 12-3 aggregate in scoring.
Last season, the group used a second half surge to play its way into a playoff berth and North Penn is again in bubble territory as the second half of division play begins. A hat trick from senior captain and University of Buffalo recruit Maddy Murphy helped put away a solid Quakertown team, capping a Knights comeback started by Lily McGee and Paula Fernandez combining to tie the game after an early Panthers goal.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
Q – 8th minute
NP – Lily McGee (Paula Fernandez) 13th minute
NP – Maddy Murphy (Jadyn Sperling) 29th minute
2nd Half
NP – Maddy Murphy 50th minute
NP – Maddy Murphy 58th minute
North Penn coach Mike Rio: “Solid win, I thought our girls played really well and responded well to giving up the first goal. We controlled a lot of the play and created some good chances throughout the game. The back line had a strong game, and the outside backs Alyssa Chartrand and Allison Schall really did a good job keeping pace with some of the speed Quakertown has up top. I thought our central midfielders really did a great job controlling play in the midfield and were able to distribute the ball into dangerous positions.”
Murphy’s hat trick: “Maddy scored her first on a through ball from Jadyn to put us in front. In the second half, Maddy capitalized on some opportunities and was able to beat the goalie on a breakaway and then a solid individual effort along the goal line where she beat a defender and was able to cut it back into the 18 and play it by the goalie near post.”
Building momentum: “Quakertown has had a really good season, and we knew it was going to be a hard fought game, so I am really happy with how the girls stepped up today. We know we have some challenging games ahead of us as we return back to our divisional play, but the girls have really been gelling and playing well together and are getting confidence that they can play and compete with anyone.”
Up next: Quakertown hosts Plymouth Whitemarsh at 3:30 on Friday to resume SOL Liberty play. North Penn hosts Central Bucks West to resume SOL Colonial play at 3:30 on Friday.

Upper Dublin 2, Souderton 0
The Flying Cardinals extended their strong run of form to nine wins in a row with a methodical win over visiting Souderton.
Bridget DiMartile’s strike off the right side in the first half proved enough, thanks to a stout defensive effort keyed by senior keeper Jordyn Levine. UD coach John Topper: “Jordyn Levine had a standout game in net, and our back four of Charlotte Marlowe, Shannon Connaughton, Brooke Ellner, and Olivia Broome were stellar in keeping a shutout against a dangerous Souderton attack. Erin Seabrook dictated the tempo in the midfield and dominated the aerial game, making crucial plays on both ends of the field. It was a complete team effort and a win our girls should be proud of.”
