COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, BENSALEM 1
The Owls celebrated their seniors, but it was the Indians who celebrated the win.
“We were happy to come away with a win this evening,” Rock North coach Gavin Flannigan said. “It was Bensalem’s senior night, and even with restrictions and protocol, they did a nice job of celebrating their seniors and their career.”
The Golden Hawks opened up a 3-0 halftime lead.
“We started pretty well and took the lead from a Sammy Judge free kick,” Flannigan said. “She also added a PK after Jayne Bogle was fouled in the box. The early lead allowed us to control the possession and some of our play was excellent. Taylor Brennan added a third goal from long range.”
The Owls came out strong in the second half, putting themselves on the scoreboard on a great finish off a cross. Rock North’s Christine Jablonsky closed out the scoring for the 4-1 final.
“We used a lot of players tonight as we are still trying to figure out our best combinations,” Flannigan said. “We were really impressed with Morgan McCaffery and Riley Hamilton in the back while Izzy Linus, DJ Lepore and Ell Needham did a good job in the middle.
“From the beginning of the game, our seniors set the tone with their determination and composure. Our younger players can definitely learn from their focus in these situations.”
Council Rock North (3-0, 2-0 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Thursday, and Bensalem (0-3, 0-2) will be on the road at Council Rock South Thursday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1
Katie Volans came off the bench to score the game-winner with 17 minutes remaining in regulation, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the visiting Patriots the hard-fought win over their sister school.
“The game was pretty back and forth at the point – both trading blows,” East coach Jake Nesteruk said of the game-winning sequence. “We’re trying to establish some possession, but South is really quick on the counter and putting a lot of pressure on us.
“We get a corner – the ball gets cleared by South, and Katie Volans coming in off the bench as the center mid ends up scoring a great goal off of a clearance from a corner kick. From there, it was just managing the game.”
For the Titans, Tuesday’s result came on the heels of a tough second-half loss to Souderton by an identical score.
“The girls were ready for a win,” South coach Amy Moriarty. “Both teams started off strong, and the game went scoreless for the first 20 minutes with several opportunities from both sides.”
Camryn Williams spotted the Patriots a 1-0 lead when she found the back of the net midway through the first half.
“It was a bit of a scramble in the box off a CB East corner kick – the ball bounced around a bit, and Camryn coming in ended up scoring her first varsity goal,” Nesteruk said. “Up to that point, we looked good in possession. The game was kind of played in their half.
“As soon as that goal was scored, South completely turned it up and put a lot of pressure on us. We survived that first half at 1-0.”
South knotted the score 15 minutes into the second half on a goal from freshman Brooke Edwards, using a Alison Sauers assist.
“Brooke received a long ball pass down the right side flank from sophomore defensive back Alison Sauers – Edwards sped past the East defense and carried the ball all the way into the net past the CB East goalie,” South coach Amy Moriarty said of the equalizer.
“It was a really quick transition,” Nesteruk said of Edwards’ goal. “Ball down on the left side of the field, served into the box and a good finish.
“If someone had to put a label on (the game), the first half was probably ours, and the second half they put a lot of pressure on us, and they were pretty dangerous in the second half.
“It was a really back and forth game. South was hustling everywhere – really well coached and organized. We weren’t at our best today, but we were really proud to pull out the result.”
The Patriots’ coach credited the strong showings of several players.
“Our goalkeeper, Skylar Gash, came up with a big clearance coming off of the line the last 30 seconds of the game – just makes the right play, judges it really well, comes off the line with a clearance with her feet,” Nesteruk said. “She organized us, she kept the game in front of her, she made big saves when we needed her. She played very well.
“Our back line also deserves credit – Gianna Marino, Bailey Schellhorn, Courtney Curry and Olivia Kallelis.”
Central Bucks East (2-1) will host Central Bucks West on Thursday, and Central Bucks South (0-2) will be on the road at North Penn Thursday.

WILLIAM TENNENT 6, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 1
Caroline Weir’s hat trick led the Panthers, and it was Weir setting the tone for the convincing win, scoring goals six and seven minutes into the game to spot Tennent an early 2-0 lead. By halftime, the Panthers led 4-0.
The Panthers also received single goals from Jacklyn Sowers (Ava DeGeorge assist), Brielle Langford and Emily Gehring (Gabby Sowers assist).
“Caroline Weir started off the scoring, and it was then a battle at the midfield with great efforts turned in by our midfield,” Tennent coach Bill Hontz said. “Caitlin Somerville, Jackie Sowers and the freshman duo of Ava DeGeorge and Brielle Langford controlled the game in the middle.
“Belle Meehan played her first varsity game in goal and did very well directing from the back.”
Junior Ciara McGuire accounted for the Lions’ goal, using an assist from junior Nicole Wilson.
“Tennent looked strong on a small bumpy field,” NHS coach Derek Antonini said. “NHS had trouble trying to keep the ball against a physical fast side.
“Ciara McGuire had the goal and best game for the Lions, and NIcole Wilson had the assist on a cross to an unmarked Ciara.”
William Tennent (2-1, 2-0 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Moreland on Thursday, and New Hope-Solebury (1-2) will host Upper Moreland on Tuesday.
