Central Bucks West 2, Central Bucks South 1
While CB West hasn’t played like a winless team this season, the Bucks record didn’t have any tallies in the win column either heading into Friday night’s showdown under the lights at War Memorial Field.
Coming off a challenging loss to Souderton on Wednesday where they were seemingly thwarted at every turn on the attack and facing a Titans team that’s played at a high level this season, it was an early test. Thanks to a teamwide commitment to each other, CB West turned in its best performance of the season and outlasted CB South in a classic clash of the rival schools.
Scoring Summary
1st half
CBW – Olivia Barrett

CBW – Alyssa Terry
2nd Half

CB West coach Bree Benedict on the win: “This was a total team win. After South answered our early goal, it turned into a back-and-forth battle, but I was very proud of how together we played tonight. There was a collective decision to rise to the occasion and compete for the person next to us, and everyone could feel it. Being back under the lights at War Memorial for a Friday night game brought out our best—our team defended the box with toughness and commitment. Avery Jones made one of the best saves you’ll see in high school soccer in the first half, taking one off the board for them and playing a pivotal role for us.”
–Winning goal: “Alyssa Terry came up big with the game-winner, showing once again her knack for finding a way to score in front of the net. I’m proud of her for converting it. And we’re blessed to have Janelle Blokker’s throw-ins as such a dangerous weapon—she’s really developed it into something special that constantly threatens the goal.”
–Props: “I’ve also got to shout out Sophie Borgmann, who stepped into a new position today and was fantastic. Her intensity, love for her teammates, and attitude were difference makers. Andy Friel gave us a lot going forward, and Addie Hermann was fast and aggressive. Our back line of Emily Van Why, Maura Duffy, Allie Pisch, Anna McGrath, and Lauren Overbeck was just clinical. Olivia Barrett set the tone from the start and raised her play to match her new captain’s band.
“South is a great squad—deep, well coached, and tough to play against. Credit to them for a fantastic game.”
West senior captain Janelle Blokker on the win: “I’m really proud of my teammates tonight. We didn’t start the season the way we wanted, but tonight we showed how good we can be when we play together.”

Ava Mignon is a gamer.
The CB East junior midfielder covers an absurd amount of ground through the course of a game, and it’s extremely rare for her to ever come off the field. Also a standout track athlete, her speed is a difference-maker even in the middle of the pitch, and she’s shown an ability to rise to the big moments.
The Patriots stepped into a key division game Friday coming off their first loss of the season and facing a Souderton squad riding in off a big win of its own last time out. Souderton’s attack caused some problems and goalkeeper Kahlan Hurley was on her game making nine saves but again, Mignon stepped up in a key spot for her team.
Mignon broke a scoreless tie with a superb strike for the difference in a tightly contested Friday afternoon match.

CBE – Ava Mignon (Taylor Roumy)
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk on the win: “This was a hard-earned win for our group on the bounce and especially proud of the clean sheet against such great attackers like Julia Purvy and Lily Heron. Souderton is well-coached, they’re well-organized and play with a bite, and they put us under a really tough opening 15 minutes where they were on the front foot of the game.
“We made some minor tweaks tactically, but our kids saw through that first half with Taylor Roumy giving us a couple really good moments and a really unlucky goal called off on a shot off the right post.”
–Second half efforts: “I thought we put our stamp on the game a bit more and we’re really happy with the efforts we got from Taylor and Mia Forney going forward in the attack with a bit of a change in shape. In the center of the park, Ava Mignon and Mattie Williams put in two really strong shifts and made a couple big plays on both sides of the ball, and I thought Mackenzie Peters came into this game and did an outstanding job for us.”
–Mignon’s goal: “Following a string of passes on the right flank, Taylor Roumy got on the ball, created a bit of separation and dropped the ball back to Ava. Ava took her space and just hit a ball cleanly from about 25 yards out. This kid has been so dependable for us since her freshman year and on a day where we needed a bit of brilliance to break the zeroes, she delivered.”
Souderton coach Melissa Lollar: “Souderton fought for a full 80 minutes with a strong defensive effort to fall short on Friday afternoon against a talented CB East team. The Indians struggled to find the back of the net against a solid defense from the Patriots. Kahlan Hurley had nine saves in the game. Standout defensive play by Lilly Fisher, Kylie Cummings, Maddie Moreland, and Kaitlyn Lanci.”

Neshaminy 3, Pennsbury 1
A Neshaminy-Pennsbury game is almost always going to be a battle, and the teams’ first meeting of the fall proved to be just that.
While Neshaminy never trailed, the Falcons were on their heels the entire afternoon. A strong effort by senior Bri Garyah, who scored a goal, assisted a goal and started the sequence leading to the third, helped pace Neshaminy, which also got a quality performance from Leah Kaczmarek and goalkeeper Alexis Barnes.
Scoring Summary
1st half
N – Cassidy Tweedie (Bri Garyah) 27:03
N – Grace D’Alfonso (Leah Kaczmarek) 19:46
2nd half
N – Bri Garyah (Leah Kaczmarek) 32:07
P – 30:07
Neshaminy coach Josh Van Reed on the win: “This was the third game of a short week against a Pennsbury team that was coming into the game with momentum. We had just come off a tough game against North and this game was going to be no different. I was real happy with the first half. We minimized opportunities and took advantage of transitions.”
Opening goal: “We earned a corner. After the ball was served in, it was deflected back toward the corner where Bri Garyah collected and played a ball back to Cassidy Tweedie who turned quickly and hit the ball up and in. There was a lot of good, hard work in the box today from everyone.”
Second goal: “It was a nice combination in transition where Bri collected the ball at midfield and played a ball down the sideline to Leah Kaczmarek. When she got to the end-line she quickly played a ball back post to Grace D’Alfonso, who was running up to put the ball in. We certainly knew that we needed to continue to press and score another, Pennsbury moved some girls up and had the wind at their back, which did help.”
Third goal: “It was all hustle, Leah Kaczmarek played a ball in behind the defense but Bri was able to get there first and got just enough to touch the ball past the keeper as she dove out.”
Finishing off the win: “Pennsbury didn’t stop. Two minutes later Pennsbury came down and got one back and continued to press the rest of the half it was a bit back and forth. But the defense and our keeper Alexis Barnes had a really good day today. It was a good win against a team that is always tough for us.”
Standouts: “Up top, Bri had a great day being involved in all the goals, in the midfield Cassidy Tweedie was really a strong winning balls, scoring and distributing today, and defensively Emma Harrison did a good job holding the attack up on their right side. Alexis Barnes made some nice saves and deflections on corners.”

Bensalem 7, Harry S Truman 0
After a game where not much went right on Wednesday, the Owls regrouped and responded on Friday afternoon.
Falyn Savage netted a hat trick, leading an offensive surge that saw five different players score and all but one of their goals assisted. It wasn’t just the attack that rebounded, with Bensalem’s midfield and back line also putting in a strong shift to pick up the shutout win.
Scoring Summary

Falyn Savage (Adrianna Posten)
2nd Half
Adrianna Posten (Falyn Savage)

Falyn Savage (Devorah Neves)
Deborah Neves
Olivia Cameron (Adrianna Posten)
Bensalem assistant coach Kat Rivera on the win: “After a tough game against Pennsbury (on Wednesday) the team didn’t let that game define us. We used it as an opportunity for growth. We talked about finding our energy and determination, focusing on controlling possession, creating scoring opportunities, and showing a renewed sense of confidence. That’s exactly what they did today, this was a full team commitment.
Standouts: “Falyn Savage led with three goals. Our midfield of Kylie O’Neil, Jordyn Bell, Mary Beck and defense of Sarah O’Neil, Grace McShane, Kaelyn Erb, and Marieh Chavez all played very well. Miranda Duncan had the shutout in goal. Deborah Neves, Paige Wheaton, Adrianna Posten and Gianna Nicoletti made it hard for the Truman backline and gave us those scoring opportunities. It wasn’t easy for us to do, Truman definitely made us work. There are still parts of our game that we need to focus on looking forward to playing Council Rock South.”

Springfield Twp 4, William Tennent 3
Saying it had been a hard-luck kind of week for the Spartans would have been an understatement.
With a double overtime loss to Archbishop Ryan on Monday followed up by Lower Moreland pulling off a comeback win on Wednesday, it would have been easy for Springfield to topple when William Tennent came back from a two-goal deficit in the first half Friday. Instead, the Spartans dug in and even after falling behind early in the second half, rallied with back-to-back goals to end the week on a high note with a gut-check win.
Karter Brady scored twice, including the equalizer while Ava Brnich played the role of hero with the game-winner.
Scoring Summary
1st Half

ST – Aubrey Hendrzak
WT – Grace Bochak (Leah Guzman)
WT – Lia Jabolownoski (Leila Santos)
2nd Half
WT – Grace Bochak

ST – Ava Brnich
Springfield Twp coach Chris Tomarelli on the win: “The offense came alive with goals from Karter Brady, Ava Brnich, and Aubrey Hendrzak, showcasing the team’s depth and attacking strength. Springfield played with energy and confidence from the opening whistle, putting pressure on Tennent and controlling possession throughout the match.
–Props: “Strong leadership from captains Murphy McGranaghan, Anna Hendrzak, and Caitlin Lewis helped set the tone, both on and off the field. Their composure and direction were key in keeping the team focused and unified after a challenging start to the week.”
William Tennent coach Elise Jara: “Credit to Springfield for coming out strong and keeping us on our heels for the majority of the first half and putting us down two. We finally possessed the ball and used our speed on the outside with sophomore Leah Guzman beating the defense and crossing a ball that junior Grace Bochak put in the back of the net in the 29th minute. Momentum seemed to sway our way as junior Lia Jablonowski tied the game off a cross by junior Leila Santos in the 30th minute. Our third goal came in the third minute of the second half from Grace Bochnak unassisted. Strong game by freshman Kaitlyn D’Ambra in midfield and junior Mia Rahn on defense.”

The Golden Bears had to work a little overtime to find a goal against a defensively stout Panthers team on Friday.

UM coach Lisa Benvenuto on the win: “We had a difficult time finding our rhythm today. While there were stretches of strong ball movement, we weren’t able to capitalize on enough of those opportunities. Credit to Cheltenham’s goalkeeper, who had a standout performance with 20 saves, making it tough for us to finish. It was a gritty, hard-fought game with both teams battling from start to finish.”
Breaking through: “In overtime, we were finally able to break through. Moving the ball well through the midfield, Leah King found Keiley Hawk, who split two defenders, kept her composure, and closed out the game in the 84th minute with the decisive goal.”

Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill on the win: “It was a tale of two halves. We scored one goal late in the first half, but then were able to open things in the second half to add five more. New Hope made us work really hard in the first half. Also, they have some really fast attackers that put some pressure on us too. Going into halftime our girls were pretty frustrated. We adjusted some things we had been doing in the first half which really opened up the field for us and provided a lot more scoring opportunities. The girls really executed in the second half.”
–Props: “Evie O’Brien continues playing well, growing her confidence each game. Also, a quiet contributor today and each game is Freshman defender Ella Rossiter. Ella’s soccer instincts and IQ have earned her a majority of the minutes in the wingback position for the first 5 games of the season. Lastly, Junior center midfielder Quinn Rozanski continues to provide critical leadership in the middle of the field.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh 3, Hatboro-Horsham 0
The Colonials came out flying in the first half to cap a strong week atop the SOL Liberty standings.
While PW had a solid showing earlier in the week against Wissahickon, the team’s coaches felt the starts of matches could be stronger. So, the Colonials responded with their quickest tally of the season leading into a dominant first half.
Seniors Marleigh Burton and Maddie McGuckien continued to provide a major influence on the team’s play while freshman Molly McEvoy turned in another terrific outing in what was a strong week for the young midfielder.
Scoring Summary

PW – Marleigh Burton (Molly McEvoy) 3rd
PW – Molly McEvoy (Maddi Lazaroff) 10th
PW – Maddie McGuckien (Maddi Lazaroff) 33rd

PW coach TJ DeLucia on the fast start: “Extremely pleased with the performance today. To follow up the Wiss win with this performance is showing a level of consistency that we will need to reach our goals this season. As well as we played at Wiss, I felt that the first 20 minutes weren’t at the level we expect. That was discussed at Wiss, yesterday at practice, and pregame today. The team responded with a goal three minutes into today’s game. Keira Whelan received a throw-in, held up the ball for a second, which she does so well – and played a ball into freshman midfielder Molly McEvoy. Molly beat two defenders and got a poke in on goal, the goalkeeper deflected it and senior Marleigh Burton, extremely alert on the weakside, found the ball first and put it in the net for her first goal on the year. Marleigh is usually involved in the action on her side so to see her get a goal from the opposite side is a credit to her determination.”
–Adding a second: “Ten minutes later, senior Mia Baron – who put in an excellent shift at forward – won us a corner. Junior midfielder Maddi Lazaroff took the corner and put a great ball into the box. Hatboro attempted to clear and the ball rolled out to Molly McEvoy who struck it first time with her left foot in the side netting. The Hatboro keeper had no chance on that shot.”
–McEvoy’s impact: “Molly played 80 minutes at Wiss and 80 minutes today. This is a freshman, in midfield, with an unmatched work rate. Her defensive motor is nonstop. So, to see her get her first goal today was great.”
–Third goal: “With about seven minutes left in the first half, Maddie McGuckien wins us a corner. Maddi Lazaroff takes the corner, which rolls out to McGuckien at the 18. Maddie rips a shot to the far post, hits the post and right in. It was Maddie’s team-leading third goal of the young season. Maddie was dominant again in defense. She continues to establish herself as a force on our backline.”

We’ve had a tough week with some tough competition, unfortunately we didn’t get the results in those games. This gave the varsity team the motivation to push and get back on track. This was another game where they came out the gate strong. Payton Ward converted two quick chances to put us up by two just 15 minutes in. Quakertown fought back and tied the game.
