CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 (25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20)
The Patriots defeated their neighboring rival in another epic match on a night that was about much more than just volleyball as the two teams combined forces for the “Showdown vs. Cancer” event to promote breast cancer awareness.
“(We received) great play from the entire team,” East coach Scott Geller said.
Bridget Terrel had 10 kills while Kelly Guillen and Julia Gallagher each had seven kills. Kate Woolsey had six kills, and Natalie Arm had four kills and four digs.
“Hannah Lamond and Krista Helveston contributed at the net as well,” Geller said.
Madie D’Angelo had five digs, and Erin Lane had a huge night in the back row with 14 digs and five aces. Lauren Helveston had a big night with 23 assists, five aces and seven digs.
For the Bucks, Sophia Videva had 11 kills to go along with three aces and 5.5 blocks. Julia Schweibenz had four kills, one ace and 19 digs. Kelly McKinstry led the defense with 27 digs to go along with three kills and two aces. Katie Hudson had four kills, one ace and six digs. Deanna Mattioli had three kills and 1.5 block while Ashley Juliano had two kills, one ace and six digs.
NESHAMINY 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 1
The Tigers celebrated Senior Night on Monday, and despite the outcome, there were some memorable moments for the home team.
Highlights, according to coach Oleksandra Rysak, included Jasmyn Wilson hitting the ball over two blockers and down the line two times and Sarah Sek swinging at every set and playing the court very smart.
"We had great sets from Ashley Foley and Kristina Leo and had some awesome sneak shots fromo Yamara Cofield," Rysak said.
Seniors that were recognized were Jasmyn Wilson, who hopes to continue on to Princeton University to pursue a degree in engineering, Ashley Foley, who hopes to continue to Penn State Abington to pursue a degree in psycholgy, and Skylar Ritorto, who hopes to go to Holy Family to pursue a career as a midwife.
"Briana Cliney sang the National Anthem for us and absolutely took the crowd's breath away with her voice," Rysak said. "It was overall a beautiful night. Thanks to the rest of the teammates for organizing all of the decorations and gifts for the seniors."
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-19)
The Indians rolled to a sweep over their neighboring rival. Megan Freed collected a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Monica Miller added five kills, and Stef Kluka had four. Alexa Spause and Terry Wilcox both had three kills. Liana Reinford had three aces. Savannah Bostwick led the Indian’s defense with 13 digs. Setter Cori Watson had 22 assists and three aces.
The Indians (5-11) will travel to Central Bucks East Wednesday to close out their season.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, NORRISTOWN 0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-18)
Taylor Stek had 10 kills to go along with two aces, one block and one dig to lead the Flying Cardinals while Alison Gouveia had four kills and 1.5 blocks. Setter Bryn Stek had four aces, two kills, 16 assists and one dig, and Jenny Mcaneney added four kills. Sarah Dennin had two aces, four kills and 1.5 blocks.
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH, QUAKERTOWN (25-14, 25-17, 25-20)
The Titans celebrated the accomplishments of seniors Taylor Danilowicz and Larissa Keer.
Setter Eryn Cleary had 30 assists while Danilowicz had 12 kills. Sarah Poli had 10 kills. Megan Manderson had three kills while Sarah Ecklemeyer, Meghan Dunn and Breana Jackson had two kills each.
“We served well with Megan Manderson, Larissa Keer and Taylor Danilowicz with four aces,” coach Ulana Keer said.
Cleary, Poli and Sydney Hauser each had two assists. Anchoring the back row were Keer (10 digs), Brianna Bannach (four digs), Kara Muro (two digs) and Larysa Wozniak (one dig).
“Our blocking was strong today with Breanna Jackson with four huge blocks,” Keer said.
Ecklemeyer had three blocks and Manderson, one block.
For the Panthers, Amanda Pursel had eight kills and four digs. Katelyn Spieker had four kills and three digs. Lindsay Beck led the defense with 19 digs. Setter Jen Sterner had 12 assists, five digs, two aces and two kills.
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, ABINGTON 0 (32-30, 25-11, 25-10)
The Hatters earned a hard-fought 32-30 win in a marathon opening set on their way to a sweep of the Ghosts on Senior Night at Hatboro-Horsham. Every senior contributed to the win. Sam Jones had 15 kills, five aces and 14 digs. Candyce Riley dished out 30 assists, served four aces, added eight digs and three kills. Alexa Kennedy had eight kills. Kate Hollenbeck had three kills and three aces. Dymond Black had five kills and two blocks. Rachel DeMarco had four kills and 13 digs. The Hatters also paid tribute to their three senior managers, Haley Brennan, Kate Waeltz and Alexis Wescott.
For the Ghosts, Jamie Kidd led the defense with nine digs while Kate Ryan had five blocks to go with two digs. Setter Sarah Donahue had 11 assists and two digs. Carley Cooper (six digs, four kills), Leah Simmons (six kills, three digs, two blocks) and Claire Gassman (four digs, three kills, two aces) also contributed.
UPPER MERION 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-10)
