WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0
The Panthers celebrated Senior Night with a sweep of the Owls, and for a squad that has been decimated by injuries, it was anything but your typical Senior Night. Tri-captains Jaime Bonner, Amber Wood and Maddie Richard – all sidelined with injuries – each served in the opening set, but they were not allowed to enter the court, so the Panthers, according to coach Brian Bassler, played five against six on those points.
“The girls just rallied around them and wanted to see them out there one last time,” the Panthers’ coach said. “It was nice hearing their names announced before they served.”
Richard had four aces, Wood had one, and Bonner served the game-winning point.
“In a season where a lot has gone wrong, there was something special about seeing those three do that,” Bassler said.
Cassie McCarney had four aces and a team-leading seven kills. Senior Julia Hasiak had four aces while senior Catherin Zhushma had three aces and seven digs.
