CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
It was another hard fought battle between the neighboring schools on Thursday.
“The matches between these two schools are always one for the ages,” East coach Scott Geller said. “Two top teams in the conference battling it out point after point. You know it’s going to be a great night.
“These girls – both East and West – left it all on the court. After battling point after point, East finally pulled it out in the third set with a clutch short serve on game point from Erin Lane.
“We have been playing with a lot of discipline and heart, and that has been something I’ve been preaching all season long. I’m glad our seniors got this win.”
Natalie Arm led a standout service game with 10 aces to go along with eight kills and nine digs. Jenn Krzeminski added seven kills, five aces and three digs, and Julia Gallagher had six kills. Krista Helveston added five kills and seven digs, and Erin Lane led the defense with 16 digs to go along with two kills. Madie D’Angelo added eight digs and two kills, and Kate Woolsey had eight digs.
For the Bucks, Sophia Videva (five kills, two aces, three blocks, nine digs) and Katie Hudson (five kills, five digs) led a balanced attack at the net. Setter Kayla King had 15 assists, one ace, two blocks and 12 digs. Kailey Prall led the defense with 17 digs, and Julia Schweinbenz had three kills and eight digs.
SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 2 (19-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-27, 15-13)
The Indians battled it out for a hard fought win over their neighboring rival in five sets.
Savannah Bostwick (16 digs) and Talia Watson (10 digs) led the way defensively. Setter Lauren Hamilton had 34 assists to go along with six aces. Haley Novak had six digs and four aces. Monica Miller had a big night at the net and also defensively, finishing with a double-double – 11 kills and 11 digs. She also had two blocks. Miranda Baronnett (nine kills), Melissa Gould (seven kills) and Megan Pirtle (seven kills) also contributed at the net.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, NORRISTOWN 1 (28-30, 25-10, 25-9, 25-8)
The Eagles earned a gutsy win in a marathon first set, but the Cardinals rolled to wins in the next three.
“What started as a very slow and flat first set turned into a dominant performance by the Lady Cardinals,” coach Paul Choi said. “The team really rallied together and started to bring a lot of energy and support after the first set and never looked back.”
Gabbi Johnson had two aces, nine kills and nine digs. Josie Barrett led the defense with 13 digs. Jenny McAneney had a huge offensive performance with 18 kills while adding two aces and nine digs. Bryn Stek had a strong serving performance with seven aces while also contributing nine digs and dishing out 41 assists. Offensively, UD received big contributions from Alison Gouveia, who had a season high 12 kills.
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-22)
Ashley Morris had a big game defensively for the Panthers, finishing with 14 digs. Lauren Kunkle added eight digs and two aces, and Lindsay Beck had five kills, 11 digs and one ace in an all-around effort. Setter Mackenzie Miller had 12 assists, one kill and nine digs, and Skylar Lee had three kills.
ABINGTON 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1 (26-24, 25-20, 14-25, 25-13)
Leah Simmons had a huge night for the Ghosts, contributing 20 kills, two aces, two blocks and four digs to lead the Ghosts to the important win. Claire Gassman had eight kills, four digs and one block. Setter Emma Garg dished out 33 assists, four digs and two kills. Jamie Kidd led the defense with 18 digs and four assists. Grace Whitney (two kills, five blocks), Hannah Dalton (five kills, two blocks) and Gwen Lockery (seven digs) also contributed.
PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-14)
Sophomore Julia Vreeswyk had another big night at the net, leading the Falcons with 13 kills and a .545 hitting percentage. She also had a pair of service aces. Elle Patterson added six kills, six digs and two aces. Setter Kate Foley dished out 26 assists and also had four kills. Dagny Gould led a balanced defense with seven digs to go along with two aces. Ali Zinnen had six digs, and Kayla Haddad had six kills.
